I remember seeing the 30 second teaser a while back. You guys made a pretty good film. I would go on to say more about it but i was reading your response you left MBBarnette on how your main concern was to shoot the shots in a way that be connected in editing. As a filmmaker that is usually my main concern too :P and im use to a sort of "guerilla" style of film making were ou just go and shoot. But for me submission this year i made a storyboard. Storyboards work! Anyways 5/5 I enjoyed yourmovie
Gues i should eloborate on the storyboard bit alil more. Basically what it allowed u to do is visualize the film before shooting it, and more importantly, it helps a great deal with editing because once you draw out ur shots in the sequence you want them too, you can figure out what works and what doesnt. I will point out however, aside from lack of close ups ur film didnt have any major editing problems and ur shots did flow well,.
With the time limitation, you told a pretty good story. I think it may benefit you in the future to focus a bit more on close-up shots; will help audiences relate to your characters more, understand emotion and context on an entirely new level.
Thanks much for the advice. I think the closest I get is on russell during the line 'what now'. That should have been much closer in hindsight, not even thinking about the rest of it. My biggest concern was just to shoot it in a way that the takes could be connected in editing. Next time I will put more attention to that. I really like your entry too, the first one I have seen so far in this contest which clearly stands tall. I think you will make the list for sure.
No worries; like I said. The film works wonderfully already. The close-up thing is just a device that can be planned for in future projects. Give yourself a pat on the back...you did well :)
This was a ton of fun to act in. Its a great first time out. Its got drama, its got comedy, more important it has its own soundtract that consists of more than just ooohs and aaahs. It even has true Ohio weather ;-). I look forward to many more great films :-D
This was a fun project to do. The added flair of having the forced deadline really helped to get everyone motivated and moving. Without this contest I'm not sure I could have gotten anyone involed at all. Thanks for taking part in this, I'm thinking of the next step now.
Considering the time and quickly written script I think this turned out pretty well for a first time, everything in one take film. Sorry to hear the Cheez-Its® put you over budget, next time I'll buy them.

We did have storyboards... just didn't do a great job of following them with our constant shivering and desire to get out of the cold!
But thanks for your notes. We have definitely made it a point to follow the boards much more closely in the future!

As stands, however, pretty nice entry. Good luck.

(i'm not counting the in the car bits as close-ups as they are mostly back of the head and show no character at all)

Look out "Plan 9 from Outer Space", there's a new top dog in town!
If only Ed Wood were alive to see this day.

Actually it was the boom mic, wide angle lens, and blood. No worries though.
