Sad news. Peter Fernandez, the voice of Speed Racer, passed away on 7/15/10. He was 83. He was also the voice of Racer X, the voice director and he wrote the scripts that adapted the series into English. He will be missed. Thanks Peter!

Today many cars have video screens and some cars can even submerge in water. Many show cars are lifted up and down with hydraulics that jump the car. GPS is now quite common and headlights that can turn as a car is cornering. Some cars can even park themselves and can be purchased at the consumer level. I'm certain that some of these designers watched speedracer cartoons or was influenced by some one who had. Soon we will see cars that transform

Perhaps Tucker Torpedo did debut that turning head light technology first but, it was most likely that the more popular SpeedRacer cartoons brought it to light in my opinion.

Yeah, I know! Where do the stumps go? And I love how they expect kids to know what "the lights give special illumination which can be traversed singly or in tangent.." means. That's what made this show great. It didn't need explanation. It didn't matter if everyone blew up and died; it didn't matter that the Mammoth Car was made of pure gold; it was just a great show.

I did have a problem with those circular saws that could cut down 75 year old Oak trees with a flimsy arm at 100 MPH, then the damn trees would just fly away and the stumps would disappear.
