Sad news. Peter Fernandez, the voice of Speed Racer, passed away on 7/15/10. He was 83. He was also the voice of Racer X, the voice director and he wrote the scripts that adapted the series into English. He will be missed. Thanks Peter!
"5000 HP distributed equally to each wheel". So thats only 1250 HP to each wheel by auxiliary engines (located somewhere). Now does it sound plausible?
Today many cars have video screens and some cars can even submerge in water. Many show cars are lifted up and down with hydraulics that jump the car. GPS is now quite common and headlights that can turn as a car is cornering. Some cars can even park themselves and can be purchased at the consumer level. I'm certain that some of these designers watched speedracer cartoons or was influenced by some one who had. Soon we will see cars that transform
Perhaps Tucker Torpedo did debut that turning head light technology first but, it was most likely that the more popular SpeedRacer cartoons brought it to light in my opinion.
no, that car the TUcker is way more famous to regular people than this, there is a movie on the guy and its one of the most famous cars of all time because its technology, not just for the headlights
Yeah, I know! Where do the stumps go? And I love how they expect kids to know what "the lights give special illumination which can be traversed singly or in tangent.." means. That's what made this show great. It didn't need explanation. It didn't matter if everyone blew up and died; it didn't matter that the Mammoth Car was made of pure gold; it was just a great show.
I did have a problem with those circular saws that could cut down 75 year old Oak trees with a flimsy arm at 100 MPH, then the damn trees would just fly away and the stumps would disappear.
why is control G so big? he's almost never going to use it.
maybe instead of A-F around G, it could have B-G around A?
or A-G around a horn? lol

in speed racer the movie does he even use the humming bird?

@4evaNnjaFitr360 I don't think so. And it's a robot homing pigeon, not a hummingbird.

5000 HORSE POWER TO EACH WHEEL?!!?!
WTF did they build the Mach 5 for? Going to the moon?
JakeSolitaire 2 years ago 12
You know, a "duos ex machina" button probobly could've substituted for all of those.
FusiontheCat 2 years ago
Nah. It's usually better to list out the powers in anime early on, so to avoid being accused of an ass pull.

What does it do, 0-60 in 0,1 second??? Good luck keeping your skin together when the G's kick in... XD

Why do they have to make the controls so hard to memorize, I probably just press "A" right on the worst possible moment and fly of a cliff.

I'd like to be sitting right next to speed and push the jump button at a red light, just to piss him off
-- then laugh like chim chim to piss him off more
BeondaPale 2 years ago
So 5000 at each wheel plus the 1000 that the car actually has... that's 21,000 horsepower.
O.o
Yea... right.

Yeah, so when do we get the retractable buzzsaws and the tires that automatically change?
and what about the built in jacks? that would be a real life saver sometimes! :D

the turning headlights were invented b4 this show in the 50's on a car called a Tucker Torpedo

First of all what do you mean by "regular people"?
What country or part of the country are you from?
I represent the the greater NY metropolitan area.
Secondly what movie is the TUcker in?
Back in the day, we watched cartoons like Gigantor, SpeedRacer, Spiderman The Jetsons and so on.
Every kid I know watched speedracer cartoons at one time
or another.
This is after all a Speedracer issue correct? Perhaps our TV programing back then was totally different from yours.

Its the logo for some company who was in Mach Go Go Go, the original Speed Racer.

Yeah, its the logo for Tatsunoko Production.
that's so funny!

It's an allusion to the official logo of the Tatsunoko("seahorse") company that produced the show.
