My brother in law was a fighter pilot instructor specialising in aerial combat, in the South African air force, flying souped-up Mirage 3's. He said that in top gun, the actors kept turning their heads to look back to see where the enemy was. They would have needed massive neck muscles to achieve such a feat and would have been exhausted by the effort in no time. Real pilots have excellent peripheral vision, so they only need to move their heads a little and use their eyes to look for the enemy.
Actually there was no music during this scene in the movie and there is no music on the flight decks of these ships during launching. Wouldn't it be more entertaining to hear just the roar of the jet engines? Isn't that what were watching? Actually, most background music is often too loud, annoying, distracting and totally unnecessary so why did you add it?
@TheForrestal agreed. AGREED. AND AGAIN, AGREED. There was a reason for no not adding music to the original scene... And adding that music, is like comparing both films... . And if you compare them, you automatically burn in hell.
@TheForrestal well, the original had no music because it was not needed, the orchestra of a full scale carrier launch operation is more than enough to entertain the viewer, IMO. Why it was added? IDK, maybe the user who uploaded it thought that i would be cooler that way... but it isn't.
The F-8 Crusader, what a fascinating aircraft. Way ahead of its time really with the wing able to adjust to variable angles of attack - very innovative.
Can't the movie Top Gun but I freaking love the song Dangerzone. Call it a guilty pleasure. I also love that the movie the Final Count Down. My only complaint about the movie was we never got to see the Nimitiz's fighter group take on the Japanese Imperial squadrons.
To bad they never really made this into an alternate history movie. Some of my favorite books are alternate history. Hell, the Japanese strike force would have been whipped out, then the Jets could have hit the Japanese fleet. Problem for the Nimitz is fuel. If they recently restocked there nuclear reactor they would be fine for at least 20 years. If not, they need to find a way to get more uranium with the technology from back then.
@porpus99 Fuel for the carrier would not have been an issue, those carriers are currently stocked for the next several years, but jet fuel and ammo would have been. Even if the people on board the carrier had the knowledge to engineer the stuff and could tell the people back home how to do it, the facilities did not exist for the manufacture. Plus special alloys such as titanium used in the construction of modern munitions weren't even discovered back then.
@rbilleaud Ill admit that is true, but the majority of the systems on an Air Craft Carrier are heavily classified. It is possible they have schematics stored in there data base on board, as well as how to produce Titanium and what not. I'm not sure. Missiles would be a problem. An Air Craft carrier carries a lot of spare parts, in case a problem occurred with the missile or a vehicle. In theory, with enough time to study, people back then could start producing the items needed.
hm,the fans would actually like to hear the ACTUAL SOUNDTRACK,do us a favor next time leave your personal touch out of it,it just sucks..................
Clip FUCKING RUINED with that shitty Top Gun (shitty movie) score. I don't watch videos on youtube so I can have half of the experience (the sound) covered by mouth-breathing retard music.
@RealityIsTheNow Absolutely right. Go to "Ending Score Final Countdown". There you see REAL sailors' on Nimitz flightdeck with the original score. Which I'm sure you have done already. 30 year Navy aviation vet.... I HATE TOPGUN!
@mgwilliams1000 I once heard an interview with one of your fellow pilots on the radio and he said the only realistic thing about Top Gun was the singing in the bar. I liked it when it came out, but then again I was a teenager. Now I see it and I hang my head in shame that I liked that shitty movie in the first place.
Find the final credit scene from Final Countdown. Real sailors working the flight deck with real Naval aircraft to "real" music"...... Sorry Topgun sucked for me as a 30 year Naval Aviation vet who worked decks like this one 12 - 16 hours a day.
I love it, simple editing job but very enjoyable!

So what was the reason for no music in the original scene and why was it added here?
Can you answer that question?

Clip fuck up with the crappy music of a homo-erotic film called "top gun", yes it's a homo-erotic because tom cruise stars on it.

Top Gun came six years after The Final Countdown. I prefer The Final Countdown somewhat more.

@PeoplesWar Me too. It's not nearly as cheesy as Top Gun. Although both had great shots of the cat.
