I don't know what people are complaining about when it comes Spencer's cleans. I can understand disliking his growls (they are pretty weak, though from what I've heard on his Haunted Shores appearance, definitely improving), but he's got a soaring vocal range, as well as great dynamics and control of his tone.

ironically, i think spencer's cleans sound great if a little whinny.

its his screams that dont sound that great, they sound almost unathentic.

but really, not many singers can scream worth a damn. in my opinion djent/progmetal is ruined by continuous screaming (from people who sound like fucking idiots when they scream) and constant boring chugging. dynamics on both fronts are much better.

I think this band is the pinnacle of me listening on loop/repeat the instrumental versions, but the vocal turns me off so much that I wouldn't even bother going to see them play live. :/

I love everything about this band. They prove that you can play heavy as hell and sing, not everything has to involve screaming.

@mason092 a good example is the drums are playing in 3/4 with crash on 1, while the guitar does some repeating rhythm in 4/4. this way, the beats line up after 12 beats, with a big crash or snare hit from the drums.
