  • Play this song in my funeral :)

  • I was at this concert! I loved this version more than the album version or any of the versions played that year live.

  • god this was the highlight for me, i was in Edingbrugh 06 when i 1st saw them and i had never heard it before, goosebumps and shivers big time, wish this version was recorded instead of IN Rainbows album version

  • radiohead is like a movement. a legend. a massacre. you can never see another artist like radiohead.

  • I love Muse and all but this is the best song ever written

    nothing Muse have done compares

  • I love this song, but I don't like the fact it didn't settle down when he sings the last lyrics, "No matter what happens now, you shouldn't be afraid, because I know today has been the most perfect day I've ever seen".

That sentence doesn't seem as powerful to me when it has more energy. He normally sings it with such emotion.

  • absolutely the best version of this song without a doubt

  • i like this version better than the studio version. i like how it swells. its got a lot more energy

  • Me too !! I love this version.

  • I'm not too crazy about the sudden pitch change like the one at 2:12, and the few times Thom does it after that. It seemed a little awkward. But this is a great song. The Bonnaroo performance I thought was more graceful.

  • that was awesome

  • i certainly prefer this version from the album version! it sounds so much better

  • horrible song?wtf!you must be from a different planet!

  • yes I am.actually i ve heard the exit music for a film only 200 times...I have to heard it 800 yet to freak out with it and then to move on on this song anyway I think it's monotonous

  • love you!

  • or you could agree with me

  • This is probably the most amazing song ive ever heard.

  • Yes, I think you must be joking.

    Bad joke.

  • wonderful

  • In my opinion this is the best version of Videotape, really really nice...

  • this version has bettter qualities than just the paino, but sometimes i like just eharing teh piano

  • I love this.I prefer it to the album version. *****

  • i prefer this version to the album version! not that the album version isn't good, just think there is more energy in this version and i like that..

  • i've always stayed a bit away from radiohead, for some unknown reason, but i am in love with in rainbows! and this song...!!!!

  • Just waiting until Tuesday

Then they shall hopefully play this song.

    They are too good.

  • ya this song is really fucking beautiful

    cant wait to see them

  • most beautiful thing i've ever heard

  • I think the general concensus is that 9/10 people tprefer this version to the one on the disc, though blame old thom for digging the album one more... :p

  • I LOVE the way Thom goes up on the note around 2:12ish. So, so beautiful. Nothing in the world quite like it. All of it- So damn awesome. Fuck.

  • yup, love that rythmical transition at around 02.11 (drums at "this is my way of saying goodbye"). Though Arpeggio turned out even better on the album (as many other songs), Videotape was morphed into something much less interesting after their pilot tour

  • my one wish.... they play it like this on the upcoming tour.

  • they are, they play all of in rainbows and alot of the bends

  • They are always improving changing making them so attractive

  • Yet another song, better in live 06 then on the album

  • i like this version better than the one on the cd...it's more powerful...

  • Is Ed controlling that synth with a fingerboard?

  • Radiohead > The Beatles. Bring on the hate.

  • i concure

  • agreed.

  • no hate only love for speaking the truth!

  • @jswee217 No hatred from me :)

  • @jswee217 Or me

  • yeah i think the album version has an intimacy to it that this one can't touch. it's curious, it's something no other band would dream of doing, and it rules.

  • I prefer the album version with the special drums. That gives it a special tension.

  • totalmente cierto. es mas minimalista y genera mas tensión

  • This ver does a great injustice to Jonny as the guitars sound so beautiful in the live ver of the song. Too bad :(

  • Greenwood's guitar is almost completly out... :(( that's very unfortunate, I saw a few live versions of Videotape on youtube and he's just loving this song, like in the old "Creep" days. Very nostalgic for me. But I'm very grateful that they still do not dissapoint me, after 15 yrs. Whole lotta time :(

  • Apparently, he didn't love it enough. It was Jonny and producer Nigel Godrich who stripped it back when Thom was away.

  • Johnny HATED Creep when they were recording it. In fact those chops just before the chorus was him trying to mess the song up so they wouldn't record it....too bad for him and thank goodness for the band, it helped make the song. But I do love the building tension in this version of the song, and the opposing beats by the drum and piano. Amazing a song could be performed so many different ways and STILL be one of the most beautiful things recorded!

  • i like this version better then whats on the album, i love the energy of this, genius.

  • Why did they not do it like this on the album????? this is amazing

  • piano only > album version > this version

    i find this too choppy.

i prefer the anticlimactic, melancholy-ness of the album version, and especially the piano only. but, to each his own.

    they are all brilliant, nonetheless.

  • This song can not be surpassed in it's greatness. This recording perhaps doesn't do the song total justice but enough none the less.

  • It's a music of dreams.

  • I think the reason this one is so much better to me is the drums hitting the upbeat, which counterpoints Thom's piano on the down beat. It gives it alot of power.

  • So true ! the live version is so much better

  • also the accents of the guitar on the ascending and descending lines

  • Best version of the song in my opinion. I absolutely adore this new album.

  • 100% agree...better than the album version without a doubt.

  • This is my way of saying goodbye

Because I can't do it face to face

    No matter what happens now

    I won't be afraid

Because I know today has been the most perfect day I've ever seen.

  • I love this version. The album is so anti-climactic, but still amazing.

  • I do favor this version, it's just so much bigger and climactic. I hope they keep playing this version live. But the recorded version is still great in it's own way.

  • I like this a lot. Does anyone have the mp3?

  • i like this version better than the album's version

  • I think it's just that most people, including myself, had a certain expectation on the direction that RH would go on the album for Videotape. But once you get past that, I think you can appreciate it for what it is. And no, I'm not saying this because I'm a RH fan and feel so compelled to force myself to like whatever they do.

  • I can see your point...but this version is SO GOOD THOUGH!!

  • modern death.

  • anyone else like this version better than the album?

  • I did, but that sentiment was only true after I listened to the IR version for the first time.

Now I really can't say one way or another. But I'll say that for the album, I won't have it any other way; the way it is is perfect for IR.

  • Yeah, I do, but I also think if this version were on the album, it would have to be before a closer... and then the closer wouldn't have been as good.

  • motion picture soundtrack vol.2

  • fuuuccckkkkkkkkeerrr i'm waiting for the mail !!!!

  • The time now is 11:35PM, Pacific Time, and I've just finished downloading it. Enjoying it now B)

  • the lyrics in this are amazing so deep and Meaningful only radiohead can write stuff as good as this. The waits nearly over now :)

  • fuckin amazin

  • this songs makes me cry! is so beautiful! can't wait for the album! (only ten days left!)

  • This song is the meaning of life

  • I agree. The lyrics are quite simple, but they say a lot.

  • word

  • amazing.

  • I was there that day. So beautiful moment..... speechless indeed.

  • they fucking experiment live.

    has to be.

  • beautiful.

  • This man came from outside, he came from other planet.

  • they are saints man, they fell from the heaven to the earth

  • no worries its on the new album, just chek out there site

  • Can you be more specific?

  • I would cut off my left leg, beat myself senselss with it, and then sell my soul to the highest bidder for that new album if this is on it.

  • These Amsterdam recordings are phenomenal... any idea where I could get some mp3s?

  • Holy Thom...

  • his dancing in his chair at the end scares me

  • I agree with aerodynamic. When you hear a song like this, you have wonder how any pop artist can say they play music. Its like a hobo banging on a tin can compared to the New York symphony (assuming the hobo ISNT thom yorke).

  • Hehehehehe, Hobo Thom. :) And I also agree.

  • this one just gives the shivers....

  • man thanks for this; i actually had an ear orgasm;

jonny real rules he's my favourite guitarist since i'm fourteen. does anybody knows when the album come on earth? thanks again

  • there is no official date of yet. keep on top of things at ateaseweb or check their websites..radioheadcom/deadairspace and hodiaudirektonblogspotcom (though both of these latter links are much more cryptic and unyielding of much concrete information)

  • Amazing!!!

I want to collect ALL the versions of this song!

  • Jaaaa daar was ik ook :). Fantastisch.

  • masterpiece...well done Thom

  • This is probably the only song that is sure to make the lp7. Even on their website it say Red, Blue, Green. My second favorite possible song for the album is 4 minute warning but this is as good as they have ever been

  • ♥

  • Incredible

  • ♥

  • How I love ♥ RADIOHEAD! =)

  • You guys definitely need to check out the From the Underground version of this song kickin' around on youtube. It's just Thom solo on the piano and it is extraordinary.

  • Utterly gorgeous.

  • is the best song from them*

  • to me this is the best song ive heard from them since Karma Police, i can't WAIT to hear the recorded version

  • perfect song ....I like it

  • can't wait untill lp7. This concert was great!

  • No wey pinches mames, hermoso.

  • This is an absolutely beautiful song. :( Terrific recording also.

  • I don't understand how they can make so much beautiful music and still have that much passion to put into new songs. Amazing.

  • "One of the most beautiful songs ever written by anyone." I totally agree. It's so, so, oh so beautiful. I just love it :)

  • greatest album ever made? haha just a prediction :) i hope it's an album at least.
