  • these ones were just shit most of the time.

  • Truth is, every batman movie after this one has just been a remake of Tim Burton's work

  • WOW!!! trailers have changed so much. now every fuckin trailer has the same format which ends with fast cuts of images or flash cut to white or black.. its boring. so nice to see a different trailer structure

  • i remember netflix used to stream this, but not anymore. Thankfully youtube has the movie in shitty quality.

  • gay

  • @pipslo what?

  • @Supereyes27 i said gay

  • @pipslo the movie or trailer? you're junvenial.

  • @Supereyes27 Thanks for not getting personal or anything.

The trailer sucks and the movie was pretty bad too. Everything crystal clear now?

  • @pipslo you're stupid, have you ever had the time to even enjoy a good batman movie. It's like saying the oldest James Bond movie sux

  • @thevideogamenerd100 I'm stupid 'cause I don't agree with you? How about this?

    You're an asshole!

  • @pipslo at least we have something in common

  • @pipslo If I didn't know better I'd say you were a spoiled 15 year old who only gives a shit about special effects and fast pace shots, but apparently you're a 34 year old who doesn't appreciate good film. supereyes27 is right, this movie is a classic, your taste is what sucks...the movie is awesome. The costuming, sound editing, art direction, and action sequences were way ahead of its time. Crystal clear now?

  • @codebabe No, it's not a classic. It made tons of money, but it got mixed reviews, and a lot of people didn't buy Michael Keaton as Batman. Most people I know who saw it when it came out thought it was okay, but not great. Why are you trying so hard to offend me just because I think a movie is bad? I didn't say anything about you, did I? The action sequences were not ahead of their time at all, btw. You want a ahead of its time? Check out Raiders of the Lost Ark. Now that was a movie.

  • @pipslo It is a classic or it wouldn't still be considered by many as the best batman flick. In fact one review named it the movie of the decade. Raiders of the Lost Ark is amazing, that movie is on par with the first Star Wars, unfair comparison. Most people I know think that Keaton played the best Batman, regardless of his appearence or height. Clooney sucked, Kilmer was sorta okay, Bale would be great if his voice wasnt so overblown. And to say the action wasn't awesome is just silly.

  • @pipslo btw, Rotten Tomatoes gave it a 71 percent. That is overall favorable. And overall Siskel and Ebert liked it as well. On the subject of Keaton as Batman, Burton biographer Alison McMahan wrote, "fans of the Batman franchise complained when they heard of Michael Keaton's casting. However, no one complained when they saw his performance."

  • @codebabe Yes, 71% is favorable, but 84% and 94% are much more favorable, these being the rotten tomato scores of BB and TDK respectively. Now, I don't want to bash Keaton, 'cause I like him a lot as an actor, but Alison McMahan's quote about no one criticizing Michael Keaton's performance is just plain untrue. You could figure that out for yourself if you just did some research. Just 'cause someone's a biographer doesn't mean they have the final word on anything.

  • @pipslo Doesnt matter what the critics think its the audience which matter i rather liked this movie, keaton is my fave Bruce wayne/Batman and the casting plot/action scenes is spot on same with Batman Begins/Darknight all good movies and to be fair heath ledger looks nothing like the joker from comics or cartoons but everyone praised him for his role and even won an oscar. So it doesnt matter if you look like the character it just depends who the actor is. Just my 2cents...

  • @adsasfd I love Heath Ledger's joker. He's Joker is definitely a fresh and new take as a psychopath who's not in it for money but rather to spread anarchy and chaos. (although the original joker who is still in it for money and what not in a way actually "Is" anarchy and chaos.)

  • @codebabe And here you go with your personal attacks again, calling me silly, and what not. All I said was that the action sequences were not ahead of their time, I said nothing with regard to their quality. Why don't you just chill out?

  • @pipslo fair enough, I'll be honest its hard for me to be unbiased about this movie because it was the first movie I ever saw(i must have been like 2 or 3) and along side Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Ark and a few others, its one of the few movies I love just as much now as I did when I was a kid. I still think it's a great movie regardless of anyone's opinion, but I guess I was taking this too seriously.

  • @codebabe Thanks for your honesty.

btw, I like your taste in music, although am a little surprised to see no mention of Dream Theater (my favorite band!) ;)

  • @pipslo I have nothing against Dream Theatre :) I think they're very talented. As a guitarist, I'm very impressed by petrucci...what album should I check out first?

  • @codebabe Definitely check out Scenes From A Memory. You won't be disappointed.

  • @pipslo i will check it out. just b the w, why did you come on here and say the movie is gay? I mean it's not like a Justin Bieber link.lol

  • @codebabe Well, I was lazy and sometimes just use the word 'gay' that way even though it's not politically correct. I should probably stop doing that :)

But, that would be hilarious if someone did create a link that just said 'gay' and when you clicked on it, it went right to a picture of Justin Bieber. Lol!

  • 11 years before the decade of the comic-book movies started!

  • wow, that really sucked for a proper trailer

  • @OMEGAROB246 by today standards, for it's time, this trailer attracted the audience of millions.

  • The first and still the best.

Batman Forever= Michael Keaton and Jack is the Joker.

  • @videozfann - This was the most memorable of them all, & it started the Batman movie franchise again. Frank Miller is indirectly responsible for Gotham City's ambience, too.

  • @knoxvilleguy2 OK? Not sure what your point is!

  • @videozfann - This movie - & Superman - pretty much started interest in movies based on comic book characters in the late 20th century.

  • @knoxvilleguy2 Ok, now I get you, and yes I agree Superman 78 and Batman 89 are the big birth of the superhero movies and those 2 are still the best to this day.

  • @videozfann Aye, 'twas, the electric spark that lit up the machine..... ;)

  • @videozfann

Do you also like Batman Begins and Dark Knight? they got rid of the memories of the Schumacher garbage that went camp and BB and DN made the series dark again

  • WATCH`,;FREE.:;MOVIES.,`ONLINE!;;`

  • 53 Chris Nolan fans watched this video.

  • RIP Michael Gough (ALfred) the entire bat-community is gonna miss you.

  • @luncher21 your a fag

  • @jo23gtwe YEP!

  • All the Jokers were great, even Mark Hamill and Heath Ledger so stfu people. And also, Tim Burton should've done the last two original Batman movies (Forever and Batman and Robin) since those two movies were SHIT!!

  • @Amgvbros4aetas Nolan did use miniatures, look it up

  • We are doing a stop motion animation film called Tim. The movie is a stop motion animation film that is dedicated to Tim Burton and has Sir Christopher Lee as the narrator. Search the directors name Brian Joseph Ochab to find the video.

  • i loved this movie, helped shape my childhood

  • still the greatest batman movie of all time

  • @ronin6401 the dark night is better n my opiion dis is numbah 2

  • Tim Burton's goal was to bring the comic book itself to life and I think that it's safe to say that he succeeded. There is one thing about this movie that I didn't like: it was the Joker that killed Bruce's parents. It made the movie about a man's quest for justice against the one who had wronged him. I think that it's more meaningful for his parents to have been killed by a random act of violence, making his battle against crime as a whole.

  • ... what the fuck is Batman doing with machine GUNS

    fucking rubbish

  • @conwayandwhitmanman ?? u from uk man

  • @conwayandwhitmanman Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the Bat-Tank (or the Tumbler) have machine guns (or at least the bike detatchment thingy)? More rubish.

  • The jack joker was more like the archetypal villain of cartoons....the heath joker was a more realistic modern day psychopath...end of story

  • everyone is this really dark is this more even more dark then batman begins and the dark knghit.

  • @funcooldrew2 No its not, its just more gothic and pretty childish.

  • @KevsHardLemonade whats pretty childsh batman 1989???

  • @funcooldrew2 Yes but its entertaining when you havent seen it in a long time.

  • These high school kids just say nicholson is better than ledger on the internet for attention. Just ignore them. They think Tim Burton created Batman in 1989 and that The Dark Knight is a remake.. lmao. Kids, TDK was created (as was Batman Begins) to right the many many wrongs time burton's versions made and be a true adaption (which it is). The Keaton - Clooney ones were poor adaptions, mildly entertaining movies though.

  • @KevsHardLemonade i know i love Christopher Nolans batman

  • @funcooldrew2 I agree man, its really great.

  • @KevsHardLemonade what do you mean a true adaption batman begins is what? then tell me man tell

  • @funcooldrew2 I dont understand what you wrote. Not knitpicking just doesnt make sense. Are you asking if I meant Batman Begins was an excellent film adaption? Then yes thats what I meant.

  • @KevsHardLemonade Whilst Christopher Nolan's version of the Batman Universe is more realistic, to compare Tim Burton's films with the dreck that Schumacher produced is, frankly, moronic.

  • @FranBMan How is it moronic? They are part of the same movie continuity. Batman (1989) - Batman and Robin (1997) is parts 1-4.

  • @KevsHardLemonade

    Are you into Frank Miller?

  • @Johnlindsey289 Just year one and Dark Knight Returns when it comes to Batman really.

  • I'm gettin sick of hearing all the shit talk that ledger was not a good joker. Yeah Jack was good but if any of you read the graphic novels you will see the joker was a sick and more twisted character. For me heath brought that out he made the joker more real, the joker would laugh at the very sight of death and anything morbid for him would be a joke. This is the Joker at the very darkend core of the most sick and twisted deepest part of the human soul.

  • @Jet5560 Are you insane! Heath Ledger was amazing, the only reason he was like that is because Nolan wanted a RELISTIC version of the character. I got to admit, Nicholson was good but he's not The Joker,

    Mark Hammil is!

  • people were buying movie tickets for random films just to see this trailer play prior to the feature presentation and most of these people walked out and did not stay to watch the actual movie they paid to see. hell, people were also constantly getting arrested for stealing promotional posters of this film. now thats just crazy!

  • I disagree. Although Heath Ledger was a great Joker, Jack Nicholson was really the joker. He had the personality and the emotion of what the Joker is. Heath Ledger's Joker was a darkened, more evil version of the joker. He did not have the pizzazz that we love about the Joker. Michael Keaton was playing the role of the original batman. The batman that killed. Christian Bale was the more familiar batman who does not believe in killing. I like em both equally, But Jack is the Joker and nt a remake

  • Well, the new Batmans have pretty much usurped these for the crown, and Heath Ledger was so good he basically erased the memory of Jack Nickelson's joker. But still, the two Burton Batmans still hold up for me, they are good movies in thier own right, and Micheal Keaton is still my favorite Batman. He just has more personality than any other Batman. Christian Bale is a great actor, but he's just a little to dry in the role, especially in the 2nd movie.

  • wait till get a load of me

  • Batman '89 > BB/TDK

  • @Batman8657 HAHAHAHAHA!!!! Love this joke!!!

  • "Who are you?" (Pulls dude closer) "I'm... Batman." Ha! Seems so cheesy compared to the new movies. Are these worth my time to watch? What do you all say?

  • @BlazeTheCat5362 You have never watched the old batman movies?

  • @bruiseviolet05 No, I've seen both of the new ones and love 'em. Are the old ones any good?

  • @BlazeTheCat5362 Hell yes especially the first two. I strongly recommend batman returns that one is my fave batman movie. Michelle Pfieffer is the best Catwoman and Michael Keaton is a fucking good Batman. Batman and Robin is a bit cartoonish but Uma Thurman is gorgeous as Poison Ivy.

  • @bruiseviolet05 Whoa! Watch that language! Sorry, I know everyone is different, but I'm not a fan of four letter words... Oh well, to each his/her own. Thanks for the recomendation, I will definitly look into those movies!

  • @BlazeTheCat5362 lol my bad and at least there are still people in the world who don't like cursing. Yeah watch them you will like them.

  • @KillSwitch2

Stop calling everyone a moron, you troll.

  • Those are My Balloons!!! HE STOLE MY BALLOONS!!! WHY DIDN'T ANYONE TELL ME HE HAD ONE OF THOSE...THINGS?!?!?!!?!?! So awesome. So great. HUGE part of my childhood growing up. Love the new series, Nolan and all, but THIS WAS/IS still awesome!!!!!

  • @Hudsucker94 mine too man...the end of this trailer brings tears of joy!

  • Ladies and gents, this is a fan made trailer. This aint official.

  • @YakuzaStudioDesign dude, this was the actual trailer for the movie. it isnt fan made

  • @YakuzaStudioDesign

Er, no... this is actually the Official teaser trailer that was released around Christmas 1988. I saw it in theatres.

  • Best Batman movie ever.

  • I know right?

  • Comment removed

  • @XanthusPictures It was 1989

  • @XanthusPictures

That isn't CGI you fucking moron.

  • @XanthusPictures That may be because it wasn't CGI. This was when they still used miniatures for shots like that instead of computers ( since it wasn't done then). One of the reasons I prefer the 1989 Batman over Nolan's.

  • @aMgVbros4aetas Thanks, but I realized that a while ago. I tried to delete the comment, but stupid YouTube didn't delete it. SO can people please stop replying to it?

  • Compared to the recent films, this is laughable.

  • @anaemia Despite that much much much more hardwork than any movie of today was put into this film.

  • @anaemia

This film is a classic and timeless. Moron.

  • @KillSwitch2 GTFO troll.

  • @anaemia

    Make me, bitch.

  • Well this trailer was actually rushed into the theaters to silence the negativity going around about Keaton's casting. Upon viewing it the majority of theater going audiences now know that they are in for a version of Batman that they have never seen or even dreamed of.

  • when you really think about it this movie isn't really that dark, sure visually its dark but its not dealing with any dark themes and there's no depth or emotion to it

  • "I didn't ask."

  • I read that this trailer was rushed because a lot of Batman fans had doubts that the movie would be good. Regardless if you think it sucks, it worked.

  • is this the original promo trialer sent to theaters to test viewer response when the studio was having doubts about the films amrketability? and if not, does anyone know where i can see that promo trailer?

  • The absolute best comic book movie, one of my top 10 favorites. But this trailer, is garbage.

  • but there are also some alternate takes used in the trailer that were not used in the movie. Specifically: (1) The Joker shoots his television after saying "I have given a name to my pain." Nicholson loads his gun while speaking this line - in the film, he reveals the gun after speaking the line,

  • i have seen all the batman movies, and i do perfer the nolan films by a landslide. And though no one has mentioed it, John Dimaggio played a great joker in the new DCAU film

  • Wow. The editting in this trailer is so... idk. Lazy?

Nicholson,half-masked in dark near the end of the trailer though? I reminds me of how great of a Joker he played, even if Ledger was... superior.

  • no point arguing about the dark knight and batman '89

both movies were produced by warner bros for us to enjoy

batman 89 was hot for that time, style, social trends, cinematic technics etc and the dark knight portrayed today's social concerns, modern complex storytellings, more psychotic stories (because the world is getting crazier by the minute) and that's all their difference. Both dark movies, with eccentric characters, and kick ass music. So nobody is more cool if they prefer either. Enjoy

  • This was probably the turning point of Tim Burton. This was when people really started to like him. And even better was Edward Scissorhands after it. But I really do think this is one of his better films.

  • I personally think that even though Michael Keaton was Batman, after beetlejuice, he'd make an AWESOME joker!

  • @wearefictional good point!

  • I remember watching this trailer for the first time at the theatre. When Keaton was announced as Batman the fans rioted and everyone else was confused. Mr. Mom and Beetlejuice playing Bruce Wayne? It didn't make sense for many, but when this trailer came out everyone immediately shut up. Looked like it was going to be the greatest movie ever.

  • did anybody ever see this trailer when it came out? anybody get a audience reaction? wasn't born around 89, i enjoy hearing about the reactions.

  • @Lebeauize Take it this way people paid to go to the theatre just to see the trailer. There was no internet release of the trailer (since no internet), people just stared in awe at the screen thinking they saw the greatest thing hitting cinema in recent years.

  • i think that all the batman movies are good, old and new, except for maybe batman and robin.I think that Christopher Nolan's gritty and more realistic version of batman is awesome, no doubt about it.Tim Burton's more comic book versionof the movies are just so classic, you don't really care about the fact that it was a comic book and not really realistic.Batman forever was good, it was cheesy i will admit that, but it was that cheesy-ness that made it good.Don't you watch oldies for that reason?

  • @eventingirl001 I agree with the Batman and Robin thing, Why, WHY, WHY! Why would they put little nipples on the costumes!

  • @eventingirl001 The only problem I had with Burton's Movies is that they lost Batman's moral from the comics to kill. Batman straight out tells The joker I'm going to kill you. As hardcore lover of the comics it is so hard for me to admire Burton's movies with him ignoring that fact.

  • @batman93oo

In the golden ae of Batsy, he did kill if he thought the villian was going to kill again.

  • @batman93oo

I've always excepted it because he did kill in the original comics. I have no problems with the no killing rule, but I'm not that bothered that he did in the Burton films.

  • @SLPIFan He quickly changed after the first few issues, Bob Kane didn't view it right for a hero to kill especially Batman because he would be a full blown vigilante

  • @batman93oo

If you think about it he did eventually stop killing in this series by Batman Forever. In my mind I view the turning point at when he realizes that somebody he cares about, Selina Kyle/Catwoman, was a criminal and not an evil person.

  • @SLPIFan actually he kills two-face in batman forevere when he purposefully throws multiple coins up in the air knowing harvey would chase the coins over the edge. What makes Batman so great is that he doesn't kill no matter the odds to succeed

  • @batman93oo

The difference I find with that scene is that Two-Face had them cornered and at gunpoint. He killed enemies unnecessarily in the first two and especially in the second. With Two-Face it seemed like no other option. Kill or be killed. He didn't kill any other enemies in that film.

  • @SLPIFan I respect your view but staying true to the character he would take the bullet because he can take it. Batman has been stabbed, shot at, his back broken, burned by acid, went up against gods for christ sakes, so I doubt a shot to his bulletproof armor would be anything new

  • @batman93oo

You know what, thank you. Too many times I've seen people flaming each other over disagreements. It's nice to see others who won't just beat down on people for disagreeing with them. Though I still have my arguments about the scene in question, it doesn't really matter.

  • @SLPIFan I read the reason why Batman kills alot in Returns is because Gotham is getting more corrupt despite his efforts so it is more out of desperation and frustration. I am indifferent eighter way so I will not argue the matter.

  • burtons version of batman was a mix of dark/comical. so yes nicholson did a great job as the joker. would he have fit in the dark knight? absolutley not because hte movie was serious.

  • this movie sucked.

    The worst Joker ever.

  • @DavinAlaniz93 Only because you would suck Ledger's cock.

  • @KurtAngleRox not talking about Ledger's performance. But this Joker (Jack nicholson) wasn't good. And I'm talking about acting, story.. everything. This Joker was Batman's parents killer. WTF?

  • @DavinAlaniz93 He was a good killer Joker. Ledger was a good deadly mysterious Joker. And the 60's joker, Cesar Romero, was a good funny joker. Mark Hamill drops in the middle.

  • @KurtAngleRox Ilike more Mark Hammil than Cesar Romero and Jack Nicholson :)

  • @DavinAlaniz93 Ledger is over-rated as the Joker. Hamill is probably the best joker.

  • @KurtAngleRox yeah, Heath Ledger was a great Joker. But not as good as Mark Hammil.

  • Only because you would suck ledger's dick.. oh wait.. HE'S DEAD.

  • I got this movie for free at a school thing and I open it up to find "Tommy Boy" inside. Not a bad movie, but still :D

  • People stood in lines around the corner to see this trailer. Too bad it sucked.

  • @angeltosome yeah it does but this was way before the internet generation and so just seeing images of the batman movie got people excited about it.

  • @angeltosome they stood in lines to see the movie.

  • "I'm Bat-Man" oh I loved it soooo much. my mom thought I was weird for loving this movie. not every 6 year old little girl loves batman I guess...

  • i love 80's trailers. so cheesy for such an epic film.

  • Batman is one of my all time favorite movies. Michael Keaton was definitely the best Batman ever. Jack Nickolson was perfect Joker. Kim Basinger was stunning and brilliant as always. Fantastic Movie!!!

  • Err... I guess that's what people liked this kind of trailer back then..??? Wasn't born back then :X

  • good thing and bad thing:

good thing: batman was one of my best movie long time ago

bad thing....i got a baby sister!!!! LOL

  • I always thought this was a great film. I personally like this better then the one with Heath. But, thats probably because I grew up watching this movie.

  • @corey0007 I AGREE WITH U BRO HEATH LEDGER WAS WAY TP PYCHCO JACKS THE MAN

  • @vunit17 Um, The Joker IS a psycho...How did you want him to act? The man who created the character helped in designing TDK's Joker from his look to the way he acted, so while whether you prefer Jack or Heath as the character is totally your opinion, The Joker in TDK wasn't "too psycho".

  • romero was the friendly version for the ozzie & harriet generation kids. he was mischievious& evil only in so much as what was acceptable to the norms of the 60s.nicholson was more cutting edge and brought a sense of style, maturity & a sick sense of humor that was a few years before entertainment developed attitude. ledgers role is just full of youthfull rage against the establishment ,dont give a f#@ck,anarchy is the meal of the day psyche that reflects the youth(some)of this day. whats next?

  • gentlemen i think we should respect each actor(romero, nicholson, ledger) for what they brought in their perspective times to the character. for the joker fans of the 60s nicholsons role would have been far to graphic for the times. just as ledgers role in the late 80s would have been far to dark for kids at that time. fast forward 20 yrs. from now when what society deems casual we now would deem appalling and guess what? somebody will say ledgers joker was tame in comparison to the 2030 upgrade.

  • Ma, I can never get over how shitty trailers used to be back then. reminds me of fan made trailers people make on YouTube.

I can't remember exactly around what point they started making trailers better but I think it may have been around the Jurassic Park period.

But this movie still rocked. My mom took me to go see it on my birthday back in 89.

  • Though trailers have some how become the worst for spoilers giving away twists to films. Take alook at terminator 4...that was massively frustrating the whole time in the movie we where given clues as to why marcus still the same ages but nothing confirmed would of been a nice little twist but BANG they give it to use in the trailer I hate em

  • This is and will forever be (in my eyes) the best batman movie.

Keaton was Batman and Jack was the Joker.

  • 2nd best behind TDK then comes Returns Begins and the two shitty sequels

  • i agree.

  • Bob kane made batman

  • @yacatzir Bob co created with Bill Finger.

  • I didn't like that this movie had too much pop music by prince it should of mainly had dark music

  • i have this movie and i watch it every chance i get

  • so Tim Burton was the one who created batman

  • uh, no.

  • One of the best films ever,

One of the worst trailers ever...

  • @ryoga2000 u wanna see bad trailers? Check out "The Graduate"

  • @ryoga2000 Agreed.

  • Wow trailers are really different today than they were back then.

  • man, the editing on trailers back then sucked.

Nicholson and Ledger were both excellent Jokers.

  • to JeredRLacks: Your right about nickelson, But ledger sucks

  • how does ledger suck?

personally i think his is the best of the two for certain reasons:

he put far more effort foward

    completely changed his voice

    was scary, violent, and crazier

he was smarter with his plans

the only thing that i think nicholson did better was laugh more.

but like i said, nicholson was good too, i just appreciate heath's performance more because jack was pretty much himself and heath had to turn his whole character as well as his life around for this role.
