Dorothy has some great recordings out there including her marvellous version
of Where Di I Begin but hands down, Shirley is better - by far.

I dont know why i have never seen or heard Dorothy Squires before. A little before my time. She is certainly a great singer and performer!

Dorothy was an emotional diva in that sence she could leave Bassey standing, perhaps it was her turblent life like Billie Hoilday I think a persons life reflects their singing. For sheer power Bassey remains supreme and dont forget Squires was around years before Bassey so work it out everyone has someone to model theirselfs on.

I have been a life long Bassey fan and thought there could never be anyone else to compare then I bought the London Palladidum concerts on CD and became a SQUIRES devotee

I to have been a life long Shirley Bassey fan and have been listening to Squires for some years now and although she may give Dame Shirley a run for her money, Shirley still comes out on top. Squires isn't half bad though! :D
