  • It looks like it is simply performing a binary masking in the time-frequency plane which is equivalent to time-varying filtering. Many programs offer this function nowadays. Adobe Audiotion goes even further by providing a lasso tool that allows a freehand selection, not constrained to rectangular regions.

  • More like 'frequency and timbre shape destruction'. I can use noise reduction plugins to get a similar effect.

By the way, this must be great for noise removal.

  • Wow, I need to get the new version! I didn't know they went to color. I got some excellent results using a didjeridoo recording and filtering out the low drone. Then I time stretched it by 10 times and transposed it down a couple of octaves. Finally, I put it into a max patch to do some frequency shifting and reverb. The results were very nice, and I used it in my piece, Dilated Reconstitution which is on my channel if you'd like to watch it. Keep up the good work!
