I don't have much difficulty with lip rolls, but I can't do tongue trills. I can't pronounce my rs properly and it's noticeable while I speak. Are tongue trills a big part of vocal warm ups or can I just skip them without worrying I'm not getting my voice completely warmed up?
I can finally do lip rolls (after weeks of trying :D), but I find that I have a much louder "lip vibration" sound and that my actual pitch is much quieter. I am definitely making the pitch, just that in the video his lip vibration doesn't make a whole lot of sound.
I'm still new to this stuff and I'm trying to find what note he's hitting. I'm a guitar player trying to learn this stuff and I was wondering what is the top note he's hitting? Is it the high open E sixth string on a guitar or is it more like the fretted E note on the 12th fret played on the 1rst E string?
@CovMaker lol, opposite to me. I can do "nay"s very easily, but fail with lip rolls. Sound just breaks into falsetto because of excess airflow. Otherwise my lips don't trill, or my throat becomes strained. I figured out, that instead of liprolls I can produce the same tone, nice and quiet, without trilling.
I tried this but I cant do it when I get higher.. Well I guess I have to work on that. But is it so that my larynx shouldn't go up?? How the heck I'm going to to that? :D I can't help it but everytime I go lower or higher it follows no matter what I try
If youre just starting out is it normal to feel the next day like youre voice is constricted after doing dopey sounds for about ten minutes? Is it just tired muscles that need recovery time?
Hi - I think the lip roll works better when you avoid starting with a 'p', 't', 'b' or 'd'. There should be no 'attack' at all to kickstart the lip vibration. Using only airflow to launch creates larger mouth resonance, and an even lower larynx position than yours. Find out more at my video channel (click on my name link to the left).
the fucked up thing about voice is that when i first got the singing success program in dec. of 2009 i start right away could hear and feel the program working but when started school and stopped using it for some months, then started again with it on summer break. I just can not do the exercises right nor see results any more. I NEED HELP!!!!!
Is it normal to be DIZZY after doing lip rolls? I am! Im glad Im sitting DOWN! LOL! all jokes aside, am I doing them WRONG cause I get dizzy??? No jokes please! I know I left myself wide open here for some...
You're my heroes, Chris and Brett. Everytime I'm having difficulties with something - like I've had with the lip rolls since the beginning - it's almost as if you read my mind and post a vocal tip about the problem and it's solved. I am so thankful to you, guys!
the larynx is allowed to move? this is new. I trained my larynx to stay low all the time. And then i mean really dont move. Guess im doing it all wrong now
@mark88bon its not really wrong. I mean, ideally you should work for a neutral larynx position, but if you have trouble with the larynx coming up too high, its good to practice keeping it low and eventually striving for that neutral position. At least that is what I have come to understand in my own voice lessons.
@mark88bon Well he means it not going to stay like it is when you're relaxed completely but it's definitely not like it should be up in your jaw. I doubt you're doing it all wrong if you can keep your larynx stationary
Yo Chris, you look better with the short hair dude! Now you look like any other rock star dude. Its your head dude, but I think it looks better short.
I feel........ like hes cross-eyed XD
