Here we are with a top comment tearing down Clapton. When the 'author' was about 15, Clapton was about 30 years into playing and diggin the hell out of blues. He did a tour "Nothing But the Blues" and why oh why would anyone comment on EC without hearing his box set full of blues.. It would stop the 'judgement' and the 'ha ha' nonesense. Not saying anything against Stevie Ray.. but blues belongs to a number of greats.. not just Stevie
At 6 seconds it sounds like someone says "20 years ago tomorrow". I don't know if this is a coincidence or what but tomorrow, 8/27/10 is exactly 20 years after SRV's death. (As everyone knows helicopter crash on 8/27/90.)
lol saying clapton isnt a bluesman is like saying hendrix cant play guitar hahaahhahahaha of course he had his classic rock days but he was always a blues player at heart listen to the whole album the blues years itll blow ur mind
I'm just going to interject this-Clapton and SRV are both astounding guitar players, buy with very different styles. it's hard to compare the two since they're so different, but I think that they are both amazing
@Secondlifecreator srv took the blues added speed to it and a lot of southern soul for that reason, no one sounds anything like him and no one will sound anything like him. BB king, Robert Johnson, Albert King, Buddy Guy and some few others are really the only pure blues-players IMO.
WOW!!!!!!!!!

How the hell did he play that fast with .16's on his guitar? I can barely do 13's
Maxpound 1 year ago
@Maxpound He played 12's with a heavier high E string most of the time; sometimes on 13's, not 16's ,holy crap, that would snap the neck!

Mastas999 2 years ago
Hahahahahahaha. Clapton is a classic rock guy who knows a lot about the blues,but that does not make him a bluesman. Sorry
judomouse 2 years ago 12
please say you are joking. clapton is without a doubt a bluesman. just born a little late. i love em all but "Clapton is God"

@Mastas999
Yes and no...
Clapton is a blues-rock guitarist, srv is a purist blues like for instance BB king was.
