The Rebirth of Downtown Gadsden, Alabama

Sadly,Gadsden will never come back unless they do one thing.....BRING BACK REAL JOBS.Retail sales and fancy restaurants are useless for the people that actually live here.Now that the steel plant is just another contaminated empty and worthless plot of land we only have the chicken plant and Goodyear for "Career jobs" and Goodyear is living on the edge every contract.

That is an overly complicated way of looking at the problem. Shopping malls totally supplanted downtown shopping districts in the 70's. Indoor shopping was more appealing to many. Also, not everyone wants to live in a city or town. I would rather fling myself from the top of a tall building than to live in an apartment or have my house be within 12 feet of another house.

Whites have fled to subdivided neighborhoods because their hands were tied by a liberal government from protecting their towns and cities. The end result is suburban sprawl, nature raped, and the majority of towns and cities that have a declining quality of life.
