Thankyou so much! Brilliant lessons i've been playing guitar for 5 years now and i'd never attempted spanish guitar but this is fantastic! I'd never wanted guitar lessons but spanish guitar is something you need to know the technique for. Very well explained i'd always wondered how they do that strumming and it's not all that hard and sounds great!

Just dropping by to say thanks for putting this up. It was a reasonably easy to decipher guitar lesson, unlike 90% of the guitar videos / help pages on the internet. the only criticism I might add is that at some points the strings are obscured by your fingers, maybe try another camera angle and try and upload videos in a higher resolution perhaps.. would help with visibility

malaguena is song name. spanish guitars are nylon stringed guitars "classical guitars" this is steel string guitar or "acoustic guitar" this is flamenco style playing

Thanks man, this is really helpfull. I started learning acoustic guitar in may, but I've played songs like metallica, bob marley, nirvana etc.

Your video encouraged me to play more spanish songs , these sounds are really great, they include deep feelings and real emotions.

Maybe you could start a website like Malero to take some profits from advertisements and donations? Check out his website, it lacks some spanish/flamenco etc. songs which could be a good place for you in the market. :) Cheers.

Can anyone tell me which strumming elementes need to be stressed/accentuated?

index down, thumb down, index up,

At the moment I accentuate the index down movements but It doesnt sound right... Who can help?

I just use my thumb for upstrums and my index finger for downstrums and it sounds fine to me :P

But if you're really interested in continuing to play spanish guitar you will want to keep practising the proper way as it definitly does help in later more complex spanish guitar songs..

The index downstrum hits the first 4 strings where the thumb downstrum hits mostly bass notes. the upstrum i think mostly only really plays the 3 high strings, i hope that helps :)

@Hirn92 Check out my vids I can play guitar well.Anyway,this is absolutely BAD.In jazz its ok to use thumb in this way but NOT in spanish guitar.First of all classic and flamenco music is played on spanish guitars with nylon strings.Not steel...and this fingerpicking technique is totally beginner as well.This video harms more than it helps...
