I have a tape called Straight Street and she sings the song I stand in the need of prayer, I'd never heard any other version of that song like she sang it, I was looking for that song on you tube but couldn't find it, but have found all these other songs.

"The Songbird" was always a killer vocalist, a strong quartet harmonizer and a commanding stage presence, but the solo studio recordings really demonstrate how preternatural her voice was in its prime. Full voice Ab5 after Ab5 and a searing B5 slung at the mic, all in full voice. If the gates were closed before, you better believe they were flattened after she squalled them down.
