Much better in the old days. Now we have ridiculous scenarios and characters, story arcs that start and are then sidelined only to be picked up several months later when everyone's forgotten about them, characters coming and going at a rate of knots with no explanations given. Sigh...

The best years for Hollyoaks was the beginning, and 2007-2008 was incredible with Hannah's anorexia storyline and m personal favourite the JP + Craig + Sarah love triangle. That was when Hollyoaks was at it's best, now it's full of teenage wannabes that are tring way to hard to become the next 'big thing'

I was 17/18 back then with long floppy hair - best years of my life - I think the first few years grew on me - it did go down hill come new decade. I'd say it was back at it's peak around 2007 - especially the Jean-Paul, Craig and Sarah love triangle. If you think about it mind you, 21 year olds back then, (at least some of them) looked and came across a lot more mature - now it's just full of kids only out for number 1 ! Cheers

When Hollyoaks wasn't particularly popular it used to be good. It helped launched quite a few people's career and while there was definitely a focus on good looks and sex etc, they actually had some decent storylines and some great characters (Olly and Stan, Jambo, Rob Hawthorn - one of the best ever soap villains, Sol....) I remember Mandy's rape/dad rape storyline being really shocking at the time.

I dont think i've missed a single episode in all 13 years, what a loser haha! Bearing in mind there was only one a week back then and they slowly increased it to the 5. I loved it back then, it had loads more fun in it as well as the drama...they need to inject the fun back a bit more! (not that i don't think its good now of course...). Jambo was a legend!

Ok bit of a Hollyoaks geek now but that line up was Kurt Benson, Jambo, Tony Hutchinson, Dawn (who was Cindy and Max older sister and who later had Jack Osbornes love child!), an irish-bird called Louise and from what I remember kept crying alot in the first few episodes and left in 1996, Maddie who was stalked and held hostage(with Jude who joined in 1996 -Max and Cindy's other older sister) and the other girl walking off was Natasha(the first Hollyoaks death in March 1996)
