  • This is so fuckinggggg stupiddd!!! Should shoot these guys and see how the fuck they feel stupid bitchesss...

  • ihr verfickten freaks... fuck you FUUUUUUUUUUUUCK YOOOOOU

  • It did kinda suck, but how's it any different than shooting a deer or any other animal?

  • @dwave14 are you fucking stupid? black bears are going extinct, and are a traditional bear to haida gwaii, where as the deer there were introduced and are overpopulating and killing alot of the wildlife.

  • shut your soup holes you whining freaks. Hunting is legal in Canada..go back to eating magic mushrooms and smoking weed. Don't watch bear hunting videos...duh..they show bears getting legally shot..go collect your welfare cheques,,and protest that they are written on paper and while your at it wipe your ass with your bare hand instead of using toilet paper you two faced idiots.

  • @bearknuckles100 wtf???? mushrooms are weed are awesome but how is it two faced to object to this video?? a headshot is acceptable but step up...if youre gonna kill an animal dont make it suffer...this is one of the first videos that comes up if you search "haida gwaii" so dont expect people to be pissed when one of the tags is a location that protects black bears and is the top rated national park in north america

  • nice shot faggot

  • I like go hunting but this is animal cruelty!

  • Why do people click on bear hunts then whine like little girls?

  • Do you sexually abuse small children as well, perhaps? Anybody who is sick enough to kill a sentient creature in cold blood, simply because it makes him feel like a "real man" needs help - from a psychiatrist. You are a sad loser.

  • Wow. I bear hunt alot it's all I do I live on Vancouver island Canada and never once have I needed that many shots. The most I've needed was 2 just because after the first one he charged me. But that right there is totally uncalled for. Christ. It's hunters like these who give good hunters a bad name (and by the way it's not a very big bear) that's pure disgusting learn to shoot go back to targets until you can make a clean kill.

  • I have no issue with hunting if it is performed well. This was a mess.

With respect, if you cannot kill an animal cleanly, go back to the shooting range until you can do so.

  • u guys suck can't hunt worth shit

  • Thank you for exposing the nature of trophy hunting. These cowards paid $10,000 for this? Evolve, already.

  • learn to shot or stop huntig. disgusting idiots!!!

  • Should this be ethic hunting? Featherbrained laughing, bad shooting, disabled wannebe hunter. Shame on you.

  • You must be sick in the head to murder an animal in cold blood like this.

The men who do this are sexually insecure losers. It makes them feel like "real men" to kill animals or sexually abuse children. Yes, a lot of hunters abuse children as well as animals.

  • Learn to shoot before you go hunting. Hate to see an animal suffer like this one did.

  • You fuckwads! This is why we Locals hate you fucking white haoles. We Hawaiians RESPECT Nature! You DON'T! GET THE FUCK OFF OUR ISLANDS YOU WHITE FUCKS!

  • If you don't have the skill to kill it in one shot....then it is not hunting. Its a perversion that weak and incompetent men partake in.

  • YOU SIR ARE A RELLY BAD HUNTER

  • AHURRHURRHURR WE DUN GOT US A BURR!!!

I'd like to see you take the bear on without your gun.

  • This was a senseless murder without reverence or honor. Fucking hillbillies anyway. This was an animal to be respected, Not to be shot 10 fucking times to die a painful death. He suffered every second if that bullshit. This enrages me...

  • SUCK

  • devi fare la stessa fine uomo di merda ridi su sto cazzo

  • this is just sad.....To see our iland bear to get killed. And to laugh and joke about it.GROW SOME FUCKIN BALLS....RETARDS!!!!!

  • i live on haida gwaii :D but that was a failll shot! that was like 6 shots to kill him FAILLLL

  • Idiot

  • niceee

  • friggen sportsies... gonna get theirs some day

  • How can you be so proud/happy about taking a high powered rifle and killing an animal? I just don't get it. They are totally defenseless and don't stand a chance.

There is no sport in that.

  • @raiven45

i see what your saying. i dont hunt, but i hunting and using every part of the animal is ONE MILLION times better then dominant society's method of killing.

we just create a massive slaughter house, over populated and chemical based.

hunting is better. all the animal is used, and before their death they experience reality. not just the inside of a cage

  • @raiven45 I don't understand people looking at stuff they don't like and bitching all over the place after that. Why did you watch that? Some people may like hunting.

  • @raiven45 ever walked up on a bear in the woods? not so defenseless. pretty fuckin scary actually and seeing cougars up a tree chillin on a branch over a bath is pretty fuckin scary too. dont hate on something you haven't tried. i still hunt, fish and spearfish and i've got a scar across my shin from a shark. there's not many things that are "defenseless" and bears are damn sure not one of them.

  • @raiven45

Well next time you come across a pissed off bear give him a great big hug and tell em how much you love him. Let me know how that works out!

  • go to prophetmuskwa's website. The profiteers and backers of this hunt> check em out there mainlanders from fort st. john. These pricks somehow are getting away with this. worlds largest black bear, a sub-species to the Gwaii exclusive, are snuffed for pleasure. where are the haida watchmen? the haida should be shooting these wife/ child beating, mother humping, whisky guzzling, gun swinging basterds on principal

  • test

  • the bears aren't even safe on an island that is half protected park eh? cowards the whole lot.. I'm sure it's bad luck to kill a Haida bear, in the middle of a road nonetheless. It's good these things can be posted so freely,.. brings awareness to how backward are system is. So were they shot out of necessity, or is everyone just that illiterate and ignorant. yur alll a bunch of buffalo jackasses!!

  • im a hunter man, but dont take a shot if you can't do it right. One shot one kill and if not follow it up quicker

  • @PFCSmith07 same here, you dont let off a shit shot and pat yourself on the back while the animal is still rolling around, wankers.

  • fucking die! pieces of shit who did this!

  • tsk tsk tsk poor poor animal you shouldnt do this.. human act like more than a stupid animal...

  • Such a shame, so much more beautiful in the wild. Why would anyone ever want to do this. terrible

  • Black bear usually take more shots than just one. As do Moose, Mountain Goat, Elk, Grizzly... etc. Big game generally does.

Once again, I reiterate, this is not the norm in trophy hunting. As a guide, I am well aware of this.

  • stupid motherfuckers, i hope one day a baby bear rips your asshole apart and shows the world on youtube.

  • All of you should shot repeatedly, stupid fuckers.

  • fucking sad fucks, this is not hunting, this is bulshit, trophy hunters should all be shot. pussies,

u are a disgrace to the world,

  • F*n losers. Real manly men. Bad hunters. Bad shots. Should be prosecuted for cruelty and stupidity.

  • hijo de p!u!t!a!

  • omg I just watched it the whole way through and that is just disgusting. Laughing like f*cking idiots...

  • @Marasma101 Gutting is the most fun part. Plus points if the bears is still alive at that part.

  • @Marasma101

    @raiven45

Well next time you come across a pissed off bear give him a great big hug and tell em how much you love him. Let me know how that works out!

  • how is this cool? Congratulations, you shot a slow moving bear. Anyone with a rifle and an hour of shooting experience can pick that bear off so why bother shooting it.

  • you guys could hit fucking water if you fell out of a fucking boat, i would love to beable to meat people like you in person

  • and you guys stoped filming is that because you guys kept shooting and didn't want to show it

  • your an idiot who ever said get him up the ass, you wasted so much meat. if you even hit the thing fucktard

  • people like you is why people hate hunting and think it is unethical,

  • and the only time you should ever need a back up shooter is when your life is in danger and you are unable to protect your self, i practice as much as possible so shit like this dosen't happen, this is discusting, and you should remove it and don't put another video on until you practice and understand hunter ethics. fucking idiots

  • you should be practicing befor you go out and wound an animal, this is stupid, and you guys should not be proud of this, non of you should have your licenes,

  • Comment removed

  • beatches

  • I think we should put it up his ass! What a bunch of pathetic idiots! What do they have hunting licences or guns for that matter?

  • hijoss de milll putaaaaaaaaa!!!

por qe no se tiran ustedes yanquiss de mierdaaA!!

  • theas guys are reatards

  • No hunter wants to see an animal suffer, this is not what its about. These guys are a disgrace. If they can't make a quick and clean kill at this range, they have no business hunting. I just don't know why the description to the right is "trophy hunting"... I guess the poster doesn't realize that most people in Canada hunt black bears with the intention of harvesting meat (think steaks, sausage, stews, etc..) If they can get a nice useful bear rug out it, so be it...no waste...nature knows best.

  • no hunter i know in canada (where i live) eats the bear they kill. a hide for sure, but i would not eat bear unless i was starving to death.

  • Comment removed

  • damn buddy has a bad aim,an experienced hunter would have had a one shot kill, that was pathetic, six shots, what a waste of 5 bullets.i agree, only an inbred redneck shoots like that.perfect example of a dumbass with a gun,who can't shoot worth shit,if that bear was charging,he would have killed that hunter.

  • this is the product of brothers fucking their sisters and creating these inbred goons with guns who have nothing better to do than destroy something much more powerful than they can ever be. I hope one day you will see the light, do the world a favour and walk off the edge of a cliff.

  • no guns for rednecks! Rednecks head south!

  • This is what you call small penis syndrome.

  • These guys need to learn how to shoot

  • 'K "Halt the Hunt" is underway....

So are the film crews throughout Haida Gwaii... Hope all the "Killers" aren't to shot happy.... wish they would just go away...really just go away!

My wish is that the crews throughout the islands just get to film the beautiful animals. GL all of you!

  • The hunters here shot a bear. They paid for it, they took the hide home and likely ate a fair portion it.

If you don't like seeing this, don't watch it.

  • hazel....boy at this point it took disipline not to use your name.....supporter of trophy hunting and sports fishing...man who has made $ from Haida Gwaii.....

You need to be more up front!

You hide behind your opinion...come on your local.....I challenge you to show everyone else that you can stand up for your opinion.... as if it was so difficult to figure out who you are.

I hope everyone who does despise this slaughter will watch...they need to stop people like you and the Tlell owners.

  • hillbilly bastards. Killing a poor bear than putting it on display. BASTARDS!!!!!!!!!!

  • Ever heard of a headshot? How many times are you going to shoot the damn thing? All in all, good hunting I guess... Least he didn't go anywhere.

  • i want a gun so i can hunt you

  • pussies... how bout you hunt something that can shoot back and is worth killing, like a hadji. anybody on earth can kill a helpless animal.

  • This is stupid, poor little bear.</3

+ xaadaa qwaii sduu dii isgaagang!

    super,

    haida gwaii

  • GREAT JOB!! someone was a little nervous lol i know the feeling! haha! you guys held it together pretty good! You don't need to shoot that many times is the only problem, me was dead with the first shot. You just need to be patient

  • pricks, the old fuckers are probably all riddled with cancer and have issues with everything, makes me fuckin sick , just cant understand why sumone would want to do that wthout any real reason, just senile old rednecks who are all fuckin hard cos they got shooters, shit aim as well , must be the parkinsons desease makin him shake

  • asshole, don't put other people down for what they love to do!! did you search for a bear hunt so you could tell them how bad they are?!?!?! keep your opinions to yourself!! jerk

  • pussy liberal faggot You probably support Peta and eat hamburgers and wear leather shoes

  • i agree whith what salva967 said... u guys are incosiderate and stupid as crap to be fireing at a poor animal. how would u like it if i shot u guys in the ass

  • either they cant hit jack shit or that bear is frigen tough or their gun just aint to powerful

  • yeah fuck the hunters in this video too, u wouldn't find it so fucking funny if someone was shooting at you. and by the way, for hunters, u suck at shooting. maybe u should spend a little more time on the shooting range instead of trying to take out wild animals.

  • FUCK!!! makes me so FUCKING ANGREY to see these dumb shit ass holes on our fucking island laughing at that poor bear that was in so much fucking pain LEARN TO SHOOT!! fuckin coward bastards. • suck a dick you fucking dumb shit heartless bastard i hope you die like that one day

  • yeah you're a fucking ignorant piece of shit. fuck you. you think i'm a fag? i probably fucked ur girlfriend bitch.

  • Real men. Real assholes.

  • u stupid old piece of shit u take up too much space in this world u r sick and u CAN NOT hit the broad side of a barn if only that poor sweet bear could rip ur heart out oh yea u dont have one coward

  • ...that was rather messy and unproffesional.

  • Just ridiculous ! The beasts murders and laughs at the wild beens ! Poor guys !

  • awful. good to see this video in all its inhumanity to help usstandagainst it.

    terrible! Danielle Damohcane

  • HUNTERS = BIG GUNS, SMALL PENISES, THE GUN IS THE ONLY THING THEY CAN SHOOT FROM!

    Pieces of scum.

  • Perhaps that bear was dragged onto the road while it was still living in order to facilitate a killing shot. Chances are slim torture was the reason. Were it so, this guy would not be guiding. Is he insensitive? Yes. Evil? Not hardly.

  • What constitutes cruelty to animals? It MUST be against the law to drag a living animal with a pickup truck....

  • it is against the law to do that they should be in jail for that shit

  • that was a good shot i do not now why that bear should take like 5 shots that most of been a strong bear it looked kind of small i am a hunter my self but i not shot a bear yet but i hope to be able to shot a bear oh and i thank that bear is kind of small

  • you would think that wounding an animal and dragging it with a truck, knowing that it is still alive, would be a criminal matter.

  • Do people actually understand the concept of trying to hunt an animal like a bear? Having to shoot it 5 times is not particularly unusual. The news article I found that linked to this made it seem like they were torturing a defenceless animal and laughing about it. Obviously the hunters are going to be happy they got a bear. They were going bear hunting, not flower picking. It's like saying people that cheer after scoring a goal in hockey are doing to just to mock the other team.

  • dude yall suck balls, that was like 5 shots. it was out in the open u should of had it in like two at the most. i'm talking head shots bitches.

  • thers lots of bearhunters on isls now out ther wher we cant see em killin mor beautiful bears they kno theyre "unpopular" so they try to look normal when you find em Always remember Love Heals Bless Them then politly ask em to "get a real life". u could offer em 1 mayb giv em a camera at the fery plane stor restrant etc dicourage bearhunter biz free camras so they can take lots a picturs of the way home

  • Sick Fucks! Notice they're old, white, men who are asshole rednecks! They are probably on the down low out in them thar woods

  • Try to look normal? What exactly is the definition of normal? These guys are everyday people, just like you. Just because they hunt does not make them bad people. They are law abiding people bringing revenue to our beautiful islands.

Kudos to Kris May for his insightful and intelligently worded letter.

  • way to go everyone keep up the pressure more letters ph calls emails signs ribbon etc mega howas to all helping at bridge 40 consecutive days stay focused we want same "protected" status as Kermode our bears just as unique if white would likely have same status already

  • lodge + licences 4mil that's why no takers guide in video marty not fired employed ft st john this how Guujaaw Province Ap.10 "video shows what island people know usual kind of hunt"would someone please file formal complaints licence should be suspended imediatly not allowed to make penny on them observer newly revised "bear facts" newspeak misinformation would someone please buy the newspaper the protest is obviously working they always say its not if it is

  • Dont know if anyone bothers to look at these coments after denis + co got thru interesting they got quiet after their identities became known usually the way it is with bigots no longer any doubt observer pro trophy editor in the real estate biz with buddy kevin olmstead paid paltry sum for licences been asking ridiculus price 4 mil for lodmuskwa regular muskwa regular hunts

  • Bear Murders on their way to Louise Island with a red jeep and white ford explorer, hear they are in Moresby camp. Please get word to the campers on Louise, they need to know that they should be cautious, especially if in costume.

  • Sadistic Yanks.

Killing is for eating, not for kickers. If I'd known they were eating it I mightn't mind so much.

  • Who is to say these bears are not eaten? Had you the facts, you may be surprised.

  • ASSHOLES!

  • What else can you do? Boycott businesses that cater to bear hunters. Tie ribbons on your business establishment to show your support for the bears. Put up signs in your yards (35' from centre line of the road is legal). Spend time every day on the internet of phone. Talk to people, send them the horrible hunt video links. Ask them to call others. Radio stations. Newspaper publications. Government offices. (con't)

  • The BC legislature is sitting for about four more weeks. Now is the time to keep up and turn up the pressure. If you seriously want the hunt to end, signing petitions is not enough. What to do? Let's immediately turn Haida Gwaii black and red! One black and one red ribbon means Halt the Hunt. It's a way for all of us to participate. Show your support - cut ribbons 18" long ,tie them together, pin them on your coat, your car, your door. Store sold out? Order more in.

  • April 16, 2008: Bear Spirit Has Risen. All but two Haida Gwaii communities were represented on March 30th at Wounded Bear. On April 12, 2008, the Council of the Haida Nation, Skidegate and Old Massett, threw their support behind Bear Spirit Rising. The people of Haida Gwaii have come together for a common purpose, for the love of our beautiful bears. (con't)

  • Wow, that is truly horrific. I see no "sport"... just the slaughter of a beautiful animal for no reason. The paw comment made me think of the mountain gorillas in africa being killed to make ash trays with their hands. Thanks for rallying against these atrocities.

  • A few photo from the rally in Tlell on Saturday in support of halting the trophy hunt of black bears on Haida Gwaii.

This slideshow has been uploaded and will be available to view soon. Please keep checking back.

    More video will be posted.

  • Quite a few years ago I was forced to shoot a Grizzly as it was attacking my horses. It was early spring, the snow had just receeded, and food for the griz was limited. A cow moose and calf had broken my fence, and the bear hungry bear followed them. When he came upon my horses, he must have thought he was in Heaven. I shot him once, and was sure that I had killed him. I approached the bear slowly, and came into direct contact with his eyes, heavily ladened with the look of pain.

  • It was perhaps the single most influential moment in my life. I had always had a passion for all animals, probably more than I had for my fellow man. I shot that bear again, to prevent him from suffering for one more moment. I will have the image of his eyes in my mind until I die.

And hence my passion for these animals, their characteristics, their biology, their habits, and their innocence.

But I do not personify them. They are not my relatives, unless you go all the back to the big bang

  • I could just imagine the energy that came from that river on Haida Gwaii today.

But using intimidation and protests won't help. The BC Government is so afraid to set a precedence. OK, so it happened across the water from you. They will use all of their licenses...goat, wolf, bear...and will guide hunters to shoot animals in their territory. I was once asked to help them develop their niis'ga hunting outfit. Unfortunately I couldn't at the time.

Hunting, it is a part of all of us.

  • Awesome show of support at the rally today. Thank you everybody for showing your love for taan. Keep it going!

  • well, when you put it that way...the 'beginning to think it just doesn't matter' idea (source of my apathy comment) begins to make sense. I can respect the philosophy, that eventually people will self regulate...and i guess we are all vociferous cogs in the process.

  • Do you not think the logging has affected them as well? Don't get me wrong, I am not against logging, but the machines used these day must certainly have an effect on their behaviours. The bears are adapting, for many reasons.

  • And...

Ice, I agree, there have been "hunts" here for as you say "thousands of years"..not recreational or trophy hunting tho, and NOT at the rate they are now being massacred.

They have gone from "thousands of years" of strolling beside us to acting fearful and agitated in a very short time.

It is the recreational/trophy hunt that has /is changing their demeanour.

  • Guardian, Skoosiit...I wish you well at the protest today... I am not trying to be snide or disrespectful. For as many reasons as you have your convictions I have my reasons for disagreeing. I am definitely NOT trying to make this issue one of race or prejudice. I believe that we are all from the same roots, just as there are many different trees in the forest. I applaud your sense of reason, but I disagree with the end result you wish to acheive. Educating the disrespectful is paramount.

  • omg these stupid people dont get the word halt the hunt of bears i live on haida gwaii there laughing stupid idiots.....

  • WTF are you shooting it with a .22? Your laughing as the bear suffers due to your crappy shots. Shoot it right up his ass? wtf

  • Hunting to extinction? Hunting pressure affects bear populations in a different manner than one would think, and especially when the target is large adult male bears.

Large adult male bears are the teachers, the king of the streams, and also, the consumers of bear cubs. In order for a sow to go into estrous, she cannot be with cubs. Boars can devour several cubs yearly. Kind of a self regulating population control. Take away the large males, and the profile of the population changes.

  • Any male can mate after maturity. Even those that are "not the biggest ones". So the bear numbers rise. The large adults are no longer consuming as many cubs, so the population rises. The large males are not there to monitor the stream activities or to keep the juveniles in check. So "problem bears" are created.

The direct effect on the population is a net increase, rather than a decrease, which is an entirely different problem.

Hunting to extinction? Not any time soon.

  • Coastal bears have the upper hand on humans. They can inhabit terrain that 99% of the jerks like those in this video would never dare to enter.

The CHN has signed an agreement with the BC gov't to protect well over 1/2 of Haida Gwaii (including the National Park, a hunt free zone) where the bears will have refuge.

So, even if there is hunting pressure on the remaining accessible land, it won't take long for bears to pack up and move to a quieter, safer home. But then no one will see them.

  • I would be surprised if only 1000 bears have been killed. The 1000 figure that is on the Taan website and only goes back to 1976, when I assume that the outfitting started and records began to be kept.

I can assure you that these bears have been hunted on Haida Gwaii for thousands of years. In addition to the 1000 figure, you can bet that there are more bears that are taken by poachers, by those with Rights to Harvest (and not required to report), and by Conservation Officers.

  • Over 1000 bears have been killed. Like Taan Saver says, this is not an isolated incident. Whether or not the guide picked the best one or not shooting still happens. Money is involved, but more importantly the Lives of our Haida bears are at risk (mascots don't die in Movies and Hollywood sets).

Everyone can benefit. Got a problem bear hire a hunter instead of the conversation officer. Give the hunter his thrill, the community the remains... lots of ways to solve this without extinction.

  • Ya, this is nothing like the video of the Whale the Makah Natives shot with a traditional .50 cal rifle ,and later dragged up with he traditional forklift onto the shore as hundreds of natives with 'whaling in thier blood' after 80 years whooped it up, all dancing around.

    High fives brothers!

  • Halt the Hunt??? Go ahead. Let us all be dictated by emotion and blindness to our heritage(s).

Halt brain dead people like Elmer Fudd from ever even getting the license to show people how to hunt on our lands.

I guess shutting the whole thing down would do that on precious Haida Gwaii...but I am certain he will just go on killing and disrespecting earth somewhere else. I'm beginning to think that that just doesn't really matter.

  • apathy is boring

  • emotional decisions are pathetic

  • Emotional decisions, and decisions based on respect are two very different things.

But we hear both all the time, wrong decisions get a lot of air too.

Ice, regarding your decision to write here, to make comments, both insightful and snide; I would have to say the greater percentage can be perceived as "emotional".

Definitely no apathy in your writing, possibly in your direct relation to another race, animals, killing?

  • I am probably a little naive in thinking that one day, mankind will regulate themselves, and will once again respect the land that was provided them. I have an optimistic hope. You are sons of a beautiful land. Perhaps you should share it, educate the greedy. Be proud.

  • I guess there are diff ways to kill a bear... Lol we use dogs. And normally shoot them out of a tree,

  • Unfortunately there are more hunts of a similar nature video taped by the very same guide. Luckily the majority of guides are not like this. I encourage you all to speak to some professional guides from other outfits and inquire how they do their job.

  • This hunt is not an isolated incident, there are many more hunts just as brutal and disrespectful.

Please stay tuned... more video to come.

  • of things in between that and dispatching the animal with the perfect one shot."

Olmstead said the former employee chose the worst-case scenario, out of hundreds of videos, to hand to opponents."

    THE PROVINCE - April 10, 2008

  • Former Employee you say, a step in the right direction I would think.

  • "Kevin Olmstead, Prophet Muskwa guide outfitter, said problems are being manufactured by a small group of agitators.

"We are doing everything according to the law and they don't want us to do it because it is not benefiting them," Olmstead said.

It is always preferable to kill an animal with one shot, but there are times when it takes multiple shots, he said.

"What you see in the video is probably one of the worst set of shots, but there's all sorts

  • RED NECK BULL SHIT!!!

  • It's terribly sad that in this day and age there are still those individuals (psychotic or otherwise) that take sadistic pleasure in the destruction and disrespect of such majestic animals for the sake of bragging rights amongst their misguided peers.

  • You thank your Kill? I would think that one who has just taken an animal's life would thank it for it's life, not it's death.....

  • I do thank my kill. I thank it for its life, the sacrifice of said life. Maybe you didn't understand my wording, but the sentiment is the same.

  • Halt the Hunt is a great opportunity to learn about Honor, Respect. That is exactly what Bear is teaching us. See the Medicine Cards website for more on how to honor and respect mother earth.

Bear teaches us that honor is the courage to stand for truth, against any odds.

If hunting for sustance, use a gun, if for sport use a camera (like the movies, all mascots are treated with respect).

  • It has not been that long ago since the Haida have met the new settlers. The Haida welcomed the new comers with open arms and they believed much of what they new comers talked about. But you and I now know that we and they have been deceived. Today we can take action, make a difference.

  • Natural History of No Human On This Earth Really has a Clue About Nature...

I wonder if the native Haida Gwaii hunters thought about the Dawson Caribou species when they shot them to extinction back in the early 1900's.

  • Ice, Haida's are told by our elders that we once had oolichan in our rivers, we did not respect them and they were taken away. We are not above mistakes, the difference is, we learn from them, we admit them then try to make things better.

The powers of creation: the sun, the moon, mother earth and our ancestors do give us "a clue"- lessons to live respectfully, some "humans" really do learn to listen to them.

Now, there is a choice, do you focus on those who do not listen, or those who do.

  • We have all made mistakes. The fellow in this video doesn't realize just what a mistake he makes...over and over again.

I was once a guide...not so much for bears, but a guide nonetheless. I was taught at an early age to value the "commodity" provided to us, and to respect the land. We used everything, even if the hunters did not want anything but their trophy. The animals we guided for these fellows provided meat for our families tables for the entire year.

  • There were many times that I had hunters with me who had the same type of mentality as those shown in this terrible video. They had two choices...understand that I was their guide, that I respected the land, and that I would not put up with their total disregard for nature, or go home...empty handed. So many times I saw a lot of game, but they did not. I refused to show them.

I really do hate this display of ignorance and morbidity.

  • A good outfit operated by good people can be the best group of people that you might want to have on your side. They report poaching, they monitor the health and relative numbers of the animals they seek, and hunt only areas that can maintain it. And they leave healthy numbers of mature animals to carry on teaching their young.

To decimate and destroy is the furthest from their motives.

Would you harvest every fish from a stream?

The guy in this video is NOT representative of all hunters.

  • Natural History of Bear (exerpt from the Encyclopedia of Knowledge, ~ 1870 AD)

The common Bear of Europe, or Brown Bear (Ursus Arctos), was at one time a native of the British islands. Bears were carried from Britian to Rome, for the cruel sports in which the Rom
