you can't just insult an entire faith even if u think ur making a good point. i myself am not a muslim but i do believe that very person has a right to his or her own beliefs so long as it dosn't hurt anybody. you may not agree with islam but show a little respect to the people who do.

About the spelling of Koran or Quran, it's just a matter of different transliteration. Both are correct.
Terrorism is what we see in the news, and this is some of the world's only prominent exposure to what Islam might represent. But you need to acknowledge that terrorists only account for a small percentile of the world's Muslim population. Most of them stand for peace. You will find strong quotations in every religious text, but whether or not they are violent is a matter of interpretation.
I don't think we should stop after today. We should have another Virtual Roundtable very soon. We won't run out of topics for a while.
But if we do another one, let's keep the topics somewhat interesting. Most atheists are familiar with Christianity, so, if we were to do that, we should save it for when we're running low on ideas.
Church and State would be good. Scientific Progress and Faith is another juicy one. Of course other faiths would be good for discussion.

No need for rudeness. The thing is, while there are issues with the church influencing government in some areas, there is no legal separation of state, therefore, there's nothing that can be done. It's only an issue when they do something wrong. Therefore, it's a U.S. only issue.

It'd be fucked up if a non-atheist took the title. Not that the title matters, but it could be used against us if, for instance, a Muslim made the best video and became "atheist guru." It'd only be cannon fodder.
I'm not saying that Muslims, Christians, etc. shouldn't participate, but they shouldn't be considered for the "prize" if they aren't atheists.

My issue is based purely on semantics. Some that believes in a deity can't be an ATHEIST guru since "atheist" means that a person doesn't believe in a god. If you call them "theist guru," then I don't really give a shit; however, you should still have an "atheist guru" since that was the actual title to be awarded. They can still be recognized as "second place," should a theist "win."
I've posted a video from a while ago in wich I answered I letter from a muslim. I talk about contradictions in the quran and such. Hope that counts as well
