If you did not already fix this you just hold the home and sleep button at the same time until the screen goes black then you still hold the home button for 10 seconds(Don't be impatient) Then your ipod will be in recovery mode and then you will be able to restore it... Tell me if it works, if not I have another way.

those who dont know how to fix..mine did the exact same thing and its fine now.. i freaked out about it, so dont worry about it, i made plans to get a new one; saving up my money then after about a month without it, i plugged it into itunes and it downloaded the software back onto the phone.basically all you have to do is wait for another iphone update, which i know sounds a drag but, hey, it beats getting another one. btw none of your stuff is lost after u get it back! another bonus! good luck.

Plug into wall charger and hold home and power keys down together for a few a seconds for reboot then plug into itunes and do a restore
