Where were you fishing at on Long Island? I have a friend that wants to go Snapper / Cocktail blue fishing and I told him i only know of Peter's Clam Bar in Long Beach NY. I really want him to experience a nice snapper run.
Hey man I fish alot and last weekend i caught a monster bluefish it was huge and put up an amazing fight also broke my rod but I did get him up and he had a couple other hooks in his mouth but a broken rod was worth the fish me and my friends ate it for dinner the next night so it was deffinatly worth it
Any tips for a newbie fisher just starting out? I've had some luck in the past catching snappers with shiner lures but lately can't get anything. Saw some of your other videos and see you've got quite a few large ones. Any tips for catching them onshore and occasionally on boat? (Long Island)
@Rares4Life Get a bunch of popper bobbers like he had. I like the ones that have a piece of rubber tube at the end over a hook. It is simple and easy to use. Just cast it out and retrieve it at different speeds till you catch one. Then keep up the speed the way you caught one. I like to catch them and use them for bait. I catch other LARGE blues and fluke with them.
@hairlesshippy ya they say that snapper tastes less oily than bluefish but i cant tell the difference. if yourgoing to eat snapper, you have to seaon it heavily or bread it because no matter what anyone says, they still have a very strong oily taste

Had a few of those snappers in my live well and didn't have a bait net... Let's say, I know why they call them snappers.
