what these pictures do not show : the whales were herded in (like cattle before a slaughter - which does not offend anyone, for some reason) after being discovered close to land. we do not hunt whale..they come to us, and we take what we get, because this is the way of life. then they were killed. this takes roughly 1-10 seconds when done properly, and the whale feels nothing after about 2 seconds because the spinal chord is severed.

If you watch other videos that are not Pro-whale hunt you will see they use boats and other watercraft to CHASE these animals onto the beach! @condorher not sure I could agree about pigs not being intelligent. I think they're comparable to dogs. Contrary to what you say, methods of slaughter are an important factor in animal welfare.
However, as I understand, this dolphin massacre is not for meat production, but for fun only, and is akin to bullfighting which is banned now almost everywhere. It's larger scale culling of a more endangered species which has a very gentle and friendly nature

2) The pilot-whales supply 25% of all meat consumed in the Faeroe Islands.
3) Strict rules on fishing techniques and quotas on maximum yearly catches exist.
4) The event is a centuries old tradition, feeding the Faroese population, not a recreational maturity test.
5) The animals do not suffer more than what is usual when Humans cultivate or capture other animals for eating and surviving.

what these pictures do not show : the whales were herded in (like cattle before a slaughter - which does not offend anyone, for some reason) after being discovered close to land. we do not hunt whale..they come to us, and we take what we get, because this is the way of life. then they were killed. this takes roughly 1-10 seconds when done properly, and the whale feels nothing after about 2 seconds because the spinal chord is severed.

@ManniMann1986 the cuts on their sides is only markings, to be used a few hours later, and cut only after the whale is dead. point of fact: cattle are branded with no sedatives while alive, with a red hot piece of metal, while alive. now that's animal cruelty if i ever heard of it. after the whales are marked, everyone who was involved in the killing, writes his name on a piece of paper. this paper is held by the top police official in that area.

@ManniMann1986 it may look like the whales are just left on the docks to bake in the sun, but this is simply because the process of organizing the actual slaughtering takes several hours. once that is done the whales are cut up in to equal parts, by people who know exactly what they are doing. the learning of doing this is passed down from those who know, so there's no school to learn this. instead people who don't know what they are doing are taught to do so by the "elders"

We do not kill for fun, this has been a tradition for hundreds, if not thousands of years, we strike swiftly and do not torture them as many say, and plus, we don't sell them, we divide the meat and bring it to the households, say what you want this has been our way, and it will remain so.

Sashimi of whale is very delicious, and I have heard meat of root of tail is especially delicious.
I have an experience of eating dolphin steak but I want to eat sashimi of dolphin, too.

this is wrong cos it is killing for fun and not for meat or any use and none benefits out of this. think about it, these animals are very intelligent creatures and they have a fully developed central nervous system cos of which they feel the pain in the same way as humans do. and they are not even killed on one single shot, but are tortured, cut with metals until they bleed to death. well, if you single think theres nothing wrong, then no point even trying to explain you anything.

you have never, i repeat NEVER seen a faroese person kill for fun and if he did I would rebuke him. That being said, what does a fully developed nervous system have to do with it? Insects, fish and all animals have that. Thats no argument at all. Go to greenland and tell them to eat plants only,,, anbd they would ask what plants? Grass???,,, well in the wintertime what grass? U might say well then they cant live there,, my reply is, its none of your damn business and not ur decision. .

insects and fish have a fully developed nervous system? what are you , a school dropout? insects, fish and other small animals such as shrimp have a non centralized nervous system due to which they do not feel any pain. but whales feel the pain the same way as humans do. well dont tell me that this is the only food available to eat. arceerios is right, and the fact is that you 'animals' are a shame to this world and the human race, and deserve to die a painful death and that day is not too far.

and yeah one more thing, just to defend this, please do not give other examples where animals are tortured. i know there is lots of animal torture else where in the world which is also very wrong and needs to be stopped. but this one definitely is the worst of them all by a huge margin.

There is alot of animal torture in the world. But you know that theese whales get killed in 3 seconds, and they are allowed to live a free life. They are not being produced in factories, so i think that this is alot more humane.
All the meat gets eaten, and they are 99% of the time getting killed by one single shot. They are NOT cut to bleed to deat, there spine gets cut over so that they die instantly, but somtimes the nerve reacts while there dead. Chickens running with no head, sane princip.

I don't see why there should be anything wrong with killing an animal for food. I don't think anybody does (Except for vegetarians maybe.. fucking vegetarians). Why is it more wrong to eat whale than eating chicken or cow. Those 2 are being massproduced for eating, have a terrible life. Whales on the other hand, are born in the wild, they grow up in the wild, and they die if we find them (Which is pretty hard.) In my opinion, it's more cruel to massproduce and eat than hunting wild whales.

1. Animals, including whales, have the right to live until its caught and killed in order to be eaten by humans.Period. All catch must be sustainable.

your comparison only tells us how low some people are willing to go in order to justify something that cannot be justified, something thats unworkable to begin with. IF,,, IF we are only animals then what we do is only normal,, and true, we are animals,,, but we are more than just that, we are humans and thus we RULE the animal world and should do so in a sustainable way.
