could i install backtrack on any usb stick?? (and what happens if theres already stuff on it? so it starts (if its installed) if you put it in any pc ? cus i have windows vista and i really want backtrack but all downloads and install where a failure...
hey I watched some other videos on how to do this... My USB boots, but where it says looking for data directory... it hangs up there about 5 minutes before moving on... any ideas on that?
@Timothy656 I found out it is due to the boot file! it is searching in hd1 and should be looking in sd0... or something, I forgot. The problem is it looks for the boot drivers in the CD drive and than when it sees it isnt there, it finds it in the USB drive. Just thought I would let you know in case you were interested. I upgraded to BT4, the problem was fixed on the final iso
i did eveything you said and i can get boot from bt3. But when try to open konsole, the size thingy doesnt go away and i cant type anything. What should i do?

You can't install this on windows. The reason is that windows is silly, and shouldn't be used for anything.
Oh, and if you really wonder, it's because this is an entire operating system (just like windows), that works with a completely different file-hierarchy.
Maybe that's why he says he -recommends- changing your boot-order. This is done in the setup phase of the booting, various keys for various chipsets ^^
Im assuming your using windows 7 or vista, I had the same problem, disable the user account control before running bootinst.bat, you can re-enable it once the prcess is finished
Does this have persistent changes such as when I create a folder on my desktop while in Backtrack 3. Will it still be there the next time I boot up? Thanx.

@mordsgaudimachen Yeah that happens to me! Its normal on some laptops/PC's to do that! Just let it run it will eventually load up :)
