  • DirectX 11 looked awesome, until I saw the dragon.

  • Comment removed

  • from a harmless dragon to a spiked monster, now i know the difference

  • i wonder if video games will be mroe advanced then this because when tesselation is on objects seem to grow larger and morph into other object just like the draner in the one image.

  • @pcmanio That is not the point. Micro-soft bullied developers into enabling feature only on dx11 so they get to sell more Windows 7. This is why you get 'look better in dx11' shit. The fact that the same picture could be rendered the same with dx10 or even opengl is completely irrelevant.

  • Unigine Heaven is a fantastic benchmark, it allows direct comparison of DirectX 9, 10 and 11 as well as OpenGL. By the way, OpenGL supports tessellation as DirectX 11, which 9 and 10 don't.

  • @pcmanio Wrong.

  • Sorry if the music does not appeal to you but I was forced to use AudioSwap because the original track was not allowed.

  • dx10 looks better...

    just saying

  • * looks for deals on Windows 7

  • Bleh. This music is terrible.

  • @MrJiaone OMFG! r those new too?! i mite go for em since im guna do SLI! THANX man, i shuld get it before they run out (:

  • @MrJiaone naaaah, newegg is THE BEST one, and a good GTX 460 (768mb at least) runs at $150. mine sure was. gimme some examples if wat ur saying is really true..

  • Bullshit. In most of your DX11 examples the models are totally different.

  • @werandomnize thats the goddamn point, tesselation enables using more complex models with more polygons than DX10, rather than just drawing complex textures.

  • The DirectX 12 gonna be 3D 0_0

  • This is good benchmarck but the song is over used.

  • what name music ?

  • @zhenya721

009 Sound System - Space and Time

  • 0:59 to 1:05, i find it very different now... :D

  • nice vid , does any1 know where to look the prices of nvidia gtx video cards cuz i searched all over the internet and i found only few of em

  • @sapachino Thanks, and what currency are you looking to find it in?

  • @GamerRigz if by "currency" u mean MBs(my english is bad) i need somethin like 1gb

  • @sapachino Lol, no, I mean, are you looking to buy the graphics cards from Germany?

And use this website " misco . de "

  • @GamerRigz thx alot mate !

  • lol GREAT fukin vid, cant wait to get my GTX 460 card with that Direct X11...but eeeehh dont cut off da music next time, it was such a good song and then it jus ended so abruptly! DX

  • @DaLooseGoose11 LOL! sorry, it was an audioswap because the song I put on originally was taken off. And its great your getting a gtx 460 ;D

  • @DaLooseGoose11 i just got GTX 460 2 week ago and its great, it runs this heaven benchmark full settings,1600x1200 and tesselation on max at 15-35 fps,for gaming is awsome.....just cause 2 maxout on 75 fps,....black ops on 91 fps ;)

  • @xXMahnituXx SWEETNESS! but i MIGHT jus get me a GTX 560 instead, its comin out later next month and its guna be a replacement for the gtx 470, with a bit beter performance and WAY cheaper. honestly, by wat ur tellin me, i dont think i'd realy NEED a gtx 560 for time to come, but hey its beter to go for higher! (:

oh, and the gtx 460 might be WAY cheaper by that time, too. i heard its goin for as low as $150 alredy by the begining of next year. wtf O.O

  • @DaLooseGoose11 well i have Phenom II X6, so don't think that's ALL because of the graffic card, buy the better one ;)

  • @xXMahnituXx hey, i got mor questionz ;D dude, how well does the GTX 460 run CRYSIS, @ 1080p and in MAX setings?! and the AA at leazt @ 2x? Like, ho many frames per second would i get from that?

  • @DaLooseGoose11 i didn't try it but i guess it will run it well, about 30 fps i guess,if i try it before you buy it ill tell you ;)

  • @DaLooseGoose11

I bought my GTX460 in December for $120. After tax the stupid thing was $138 though ... god I hate tax. But yeah December 2010, a GTX460 for $120!

I OC'd it to 915MHz Core/1830MHz Shaders and 2200MHz on the GDDR5 and ran through this demo 3x in a row without a single artifact running my fan at 60% and topping out at 60 degrees C. 1680x1050, default settings and got 44FPS Avg, Min 32 FPS and the Max FPS was 98 or something.

I'm not sure how much further I can push it.

  • @kinnokaizoku $120?! WTF r u serious?...Did u find it on a BIG sale or something? WHOA....

o yea, probably for a christmas sale, am i rite?

  • @kinnokaizoku go higher on voltages

  • This really shows DirectX11 at it's best!

  • ha nao é 9 vs10?

  • with wireframe = HOLY SHIT

  • basically tessellation uses displacement mapping.

displacement mapping is like bump mapping but better..

  • tessellation is not normal mapping.... the closest thing it could be compared to is parallax mapping, which this is clearly not.

  • In a normal game, even directx 7 would have NORMAL stairs...

  • directx 11 has better lightning effects.

  • watch 0.53 the changing from dx 10 to 11 watch the water pipe on the right sude that does'nt looks natural

  • Awsome, best example ive seen so far, cant wait my new rig is on its way : D

  • Looks great. Is the displacement driven simply by normal maps?

  • @alexsoundwave I think so.

  • Tesselation plays with polygon counts and increases the number as an object gets closer. Also decreases once the object goes farther. This could be done way before, but different models would need to be made for quality differences. That would hoard both, memory and size of the game. Tesselation does it with only one model. You fart a super quality model, tesselation will decrease poly count if the model is not visible or far away from the camera.

Bye-Bye normal and bump mapping ;D

  • I love how dx11 makes the roof tiles look awesome and other things more 3D

  • i think directX 10.1 did well

and directX 11 make things become ugly

  • 1:08 Insane transformation.

  • DX11的處理更加細膩了

    但相對的

    電腦配備也需要更高級= 3=

  • Like this just seems so like one sided, the dx10 is like simple textures pictures or stairs and windows, and dx11 is the actual model, a 3d model, so ofcouse it will look different.

  • Tesselation here reminds me of in the Crysis demo how at the end of the demo you go through that dried up river/creek with the rocks covering more than 50% of the landscape, and the rocks jump out, kinda like how tesselation is shown in this video. Anyone know what the difference is? =)

  • @Eclovideos You understand the difference of dx10 tessellation and dx11 tessellation don't you? Dx10 does have some tessellation, but it isn't as good. If you were to really look at it closely, its just a flat rock with details on it to make it look like it "popped out". you will see that alot in dx10 games. Some textures look pop out but its really the details on it fooling you. Dx11 has better algorithms and can produce more polygons to make an actual "popped out" rock.

  • @frenchfriesidiot I do know the difference, but some of the some puff and smoke added to scenery can trick the eye into believing something. Example: Crysis. You learn something new everyday i guess. =)

  • the dx10 looks like elder scroll morrowind graphics - very exaggerated

  • no way is dx10 that bad, I mean that looks like xbox original graphics, whoever had this on dx10 weren’t playing it on max settings

  • cmon! Dx10 does not by any chance looks that lame!! who's with me??

... Dx11 looks great dont get me wrong but its a little exagerated in here dont u think??

  • directx 11 here is unrealistic. i dont think anyone would want to walk on spiky trails

  • @Trentonater47 Its just showing the sharpness of the gpu rendering.

  • trust me people tesselation is awesome. and this benchmark really shows it.

  • lol. This video wants to make us believe that normal mapping was impossible in DX10... FYI, even some Playstation 2 games had such a simple feature.

This video is a complete marketing bullsh*t.

  • @Vahron Wrong, I just made the video because I have the card and I have the software.

  • @Vahron This isn't normal mapping.

  • @Vahron

    Your not a Programmer,So STFU.

And I've researched,This can only be Done of DX11.

  • @Vahron I get really bored of people who just use forums to spew negative rubbish like this. It really should be written into the book of netiquette that if you only want to offend / make inflammatory remarks just don't post. Being rude may make you feel superior for a moment but everybody watching just thinks you're a boring dick.

  • Well I see that some tessellation is different, but in other games with direct x 10 its been as detail as this...

I'm going to wait for DX12 before upgrading, since I really don't seem to see the huge difference between the 2 :/

  • @SuperLOLBrothers Well, I heard that ATi are going to be releasing a 6000 series Q1 2011, might have that, don't know for sure.

  • @SuperLOLBrothers Uh... no... DX 10 games do not offer the detail seen in this benchmark.

  • @ATLMember well i know that it's technically different, but when I play crysis and then look at this, the detail in crysis is a little too high to really tell that OMG theres tessellation... Technically yes, Dx11 has tess and stuff but it doesn't make enough of a diff for me to go spend a ton of money upgrading when dx12 would look way better if it ever came out...

  • @SuperLOLBrothers Well clearly little work was put into the dx 10 version of this benchmark, but tessalation is pretty neat, it could enhance Crysis's visuals a lot.

  • @SuperLOLBrothers Well your gonna be waiting for a while because we wont get dx12 till wooooooohhh

  • @omnimon64 lol i don't know when wooooooohhh is but i'll keep that in mind...

  • @SuperLOLBrothers wooooooohhh is right after WooHoo and just before isthatalldammit?

  • @ZOMGitsDouchebag So right now we're at WooHoo?

Imma wait till isthatalldammit then :3

  • @SuperLOLBrothers yeah I went from two hd4890 CF to two 5870 CF(X?) and although it looks good I think unless we get more games coding effectivly for DX11 we may well be saying 'is that all dammit' Metro2033 is not a bad start I guess. Still cranky about Alien&Pred, the online was arrgh. I not gonna blame consols for slow take up of Dx11 though, really I'm not, dont give me that look!

  • nice

  • any other difference expect size?

  • @skymakeryo The tessellation is more detailed.

  • What you can do with dx11 you can do it with dx10. They just invented dx11 to sell videocards.

  • @juliocesar24 Lol!

  • its true....

  • @juliocesar24 are you crazy?

  • @juliocesar24 ya i bieleve they couldv made dx10 work like dx11 they just didnt they wanted a new name "DirectX 11!!!" xD cmon

  • @juliocesar24

    #ROFL

  • i just want to see oblivion remade in dx11

  • what's the song?

  • @Elrinth song is Delphic - Counterpoint

  • I get 45FPS on my GTX 295 at 2560x1600 resolution, 75FPS at 1920x1080

  • stairs and this walls just do not need this polycount, hundred times less polys would do, it is better to tessellate characters and not roofs or stairs.. and even with characters it should not be overdone. Tens of million polys are not needed for a single character even up close, 100-150 k is more than enough..

  • the point of the tesselation is that it only features that high polygon count when zoomed in; when you zoom out it eventually adapts a simpler and simpler wireframe. That way, there is much less limitation in developing giant worlds...it's simple when it's too far to see, and gets more detailed as you get closer. It's ingenious.

  • @tutaberi100 Your character tessellate comment is actually true, they should work on characters too, like hair movement, etc.

  • 0:10 is crap! They can make 3D stairs in dx10!

  • @runedegroot True but, that's how the software presented it :(

  • They had to make it better! In a benchmark it have to show best preformance! :(

  • yeah i seen all of these features on dx10 too its just on this tingy

  • @Dominykas14 there are to simple :S

  • thanks for the video :D

is displacement map heavy on the cpu to?

  • @ilhadosmacacos Not as much, but you wont need to worry, depends how many gpu processing cores you have if it will maintain a good frame cap.

  • is there anyway to force dx11 in my ati?

whats yout ati and how much fps it gets in this demo?

  • You wont vbe able to, the drivers will auto-detect that its not a dx11 card. And my ATi is 5770 (all 5000 series support dx11) and in this demo, i get around 25 fps.

  • WoW... that is actually really heavy...

yeah, i need to buy another card, you know if workstation Ati's are good with games? this times i will study more than play...

  • kewl

  • SWEET!!!!!!
