Mustangs are overrated and are way to over populated on the road IMO. Why have a car that everyone has? I personally love the challenger but its out of my price range..btw I've seen 3.8 camaro's and firebirds destroy some GT's with simple bolt ons' so I wouldn't go around bragging about the superiority of the mustang..although they certainly have the potential, I'd take a 6.0 GTO any day over a stang

I had a 2006 GTO Loved It. cat back, Diablo Tune, Cold air. Great Top End. 1/4 a mile Id take a stock 5.0 any day over the gto. Lighter, more potential and thats why I plan to get one.

I own the '05 GTO, it's been a great car. Bone Stock, mine ran 13.05 @ 109mph at sea level here in Florida. The new Stang has a terrific engine. The lighter weight & live rear axle should give it an advantage in the 1/4 mile. I had to install a bigger rear sway bar & rear suspension brace to control the IRS. It leaves the line a lot smoother.
@MrUltraworld Lighter weight? Its only just over 100lbs lighter. Its gained quite a bit of weight from the 03/04 Cobras which are a much better car IMO.
Nice car. I am VERY disappointed that Pontiac of all car companies that really started the muscle car era didn’t make a retro style GTO. in this vid both cars ran 13 flat while the gto missed a gear,all the gto has is a tune n mufflers,better driver in that gto and give that 5.0 a tune I gurantee the gto will still win...def gotta respect the 5.0's tho with the right driver and mild setup they can be capable of low 12s easy

Goats are not that ugly, but I have to agree that the look is not that appealing to many. Regardless the 6.0s are very quick in my eyes. I have beat every 5.7 GTO but I am sure I will never beat a 6.0 with my 2004 mustang gt slightly modded. I would give it a run though since there are some drivers outhere that suck balls. I would love to buy a red 2011 GT500 with dark wheels but thats but thats not gonna happen any time soon.

No I have an 08 Mustang GT/CS with an M90 supercharger, I know it's the M90 which is the smaller of the popular supercharges but with the dyno tune I'm still putting down 431hp at the wheels. I just say that because I'd be willing to bet it's very true, these internet hero's think if you don't have a 10 second car it's slow. Horsepower is horsepower it doesn't matter what car it's in, I like all the newer american hotrods, I just chose the Mustang because it's what I like most.

Too bad, the Mustangs are nice cars, they're just not invincible. The 5.0 comes stock from the factory with a lot less weight, tubular headers, 3:73s and CAI. So when you add that to your car it's even.

so that means you had 308 gears, and being an automatic the optional gears would have been 331 instead of 373 gears, those are good times your pulling with the stock gears for an automatic.

I own the Gto and love it. I wanted a chance to race a new mustang and I found it.
The mustang is a rental car from budget. I paid $42 a day plus $25 for insurance. It was a base model 5.0 with about 9k miles.
I had fun driving the mustang around, but would never trade my GTO for one.
@ADD8oi in stock form the auto has 308 gears, the manuel has 331, the auto has optional 331 gears and the manuel has optional 373 gears, i studied the heck out of this car in true stock form, with no options. If you have anny questions anny way just call ford racing they will have all the answers you want, about the new 5.0, regarding stock information. there number is on their site or you can just email them.

@GTO19020 Just want to let you know that I ran a 12.3 @ 112 over the weekend with my 06 M6 GTO (the same one in this video) With only a tune, magnaflow mufflers, tires, and weight reduction. Oh and 6 out of 7 passes, I had a .08 or better reaction.

@08turboSS As I stated before, the car is not stock. But the motor (LS2), trans (T56), and the rear end (3.46) are stock. No aftermarket cam, heads, intake manifold, headers, gears, or even CAI.
Yes, I have a tune, mufflers, MT ET Streets, and about 100-125 pounds removed. 12.3 @ 111 is the results. Call BS all you want, but I have video, time slips and witnesses that prove it.

@HypnoticSuggestion It depends on your definition of stock. If you mean right off the showroom floor then no the 3.7 doesn't win vs all comers. The 5.0 is amazing but it took Ford 5 years after the GTO went out of production to get this car on the street. Imagine where the GTO would be now if it were still in production. I will still take the interior of my 06 GTO any day over that of any Mustang. My 06 GTO gets up to 28 mpg highway and around 19/20 in town. I do like the styling of the 2011 5.0

I just took a stock 5.0 mustang down the other day in my 06 gto. 2 digs and three 40 rolls... got him everytime. I am very lightly modded, with clutch setup, short shifter, cai on a stock tune. They are fast though... first good mustang in a while, they seemed to do much better from a dig then on a roll.
@JRA1321 An automatic 5.0 doesnt do all that good from a roll...The LS2 GTO's can match up with a 2011 Camaro SS too, its all gonna depend on driver, traction, and auto or manual (with Ford is HAS to be a manual) as a 06 GTO, 11 SS, and 11 5.0 are all really close in stock times and power ratings...
@Punisher7121 I have taken down a bone stock LS3 Camaro SS (LS3 is the M6 version not he A6 L99 with less HP)The 5.0 stang I took down was also the M6 version... not the A6. Your correct, all three of these cars are very closely matched and many times will come down to the best driver.
That's quick for a stock automatic! I don't think you can get the 3:73's from the factory with an automatic, but can swap out after you get it. That would bring this one into the 12's easily.
with only a blower and street slicks haha sounds like a lot to be honest. z06 stock with street slicks 10's sorry. Chevy focuses on the corvettes for true speed I have noticed but you can mod the shit out of the ls engines. New camaro kinda dissapointing tho weight wise.

in this vid both cars ran 13 flat while the gto missed a gear,all the gto has is a tune n mufflers,better driver in that gto and give that 5.0 a tune I gurantee the gto will still win...def gotta respect the 5.0's tho with the right driver and mild setup they can be capable of low 12s easy

Goats are not that ugly, but I have to agree that the look is not that appealing to many. Regardless the 6.0s are very quick in my eyes. I have beat every 5.7 GTO but I am sure I will never beat a 6.0 with my 2004 mustang gt slightly modded. I would give it a run though since there are some drivers outhere that suck balls. I would love to buy a red 2011 GT500 with dark wheels but thats but thats not gonna happen any time soon.

No I have an 08 Mustang GT/CS with an M90 supercharger, I know it's the M90 which is the smaller of the popular supercharges but with the dyno tune I'm still putting down 431hp at the wheels. I just say that because I'd be willing to bet it's very true, these internet hero's think if you don't have a 10 second car it's slow. Horsepower is horsepower it doesn't matter what car it's in, I like all the newer american hotrods, I just chose the Mustang because it's what I like most.

Sales were slow to pick up in 05 but the 06 models did pretty well and now there are many looking for these cars, especially the LS2's. The new 5.0 isn't in the 11's stock either. @blackjacksmitty Car & Driver and Road & Track as well as Edmunds clearly show the 2011 Mustang 5.0 losing to the Camaro with the same engine in it as your GTO. The Ford guys just hate admitting that their beloved Mustang is pooping horse manure instead of running with the LS engines in GM cars. Too bad, the Mustangs are nice cars, they're just not invincible. The 5.0 comes stock from the factory with a lot less weight, tubular headers, 3:73s and CAI. So when you add that to your car it's even.

I hope everyone has enjoyed this video. I wish I could have had a better race to show (ie: no red light and no missed gears) but this was best quality I had with a phone.
The full story is:
I own the Gto and love it. I wanted a chance to race a new mustang and I found it.
The mustang is a rental car from budget. I paid $42 a day plus $25 for insurance. It was a base model 5.0 with about 9k miles.
I had fun driving the mustang around, but would never trade my GTO for one.

@GTO19020 Just want to let you know that I ran a 12.3 @ 112 over the weekend with my 06 M6 GTO (the same one in this video) With only a tune, magnaflow mufflers, tires, and weight reduction. Oh and 6 out of 7 passes, I had a .08 or better reaction.

@08turboSS As I stated before, the car is not stock. But the motor (LS2), trans (T56), and the rear end (3.46) are stock. No aftermarket cam, heads, intake manifold, headers, gears, or even CAI.
Yes, I have a tune, mufflers, MT ET Streets, and about 100-125 pounds removed. 12.3 @ 111 is the results. Call BS all you want, but I have video, time slips and witnesses that prove it.

The 5.0 is amazing but it took Ford 5 years after the GTO went out of production to get this car on the street. Imagine where the GTO would be now if it were still in production. I will still take the interior of my 06 GTO any day over that of any Mustang. My 06 GTO gets up to 28 mpg highway and around 19/20 in town. I do like the styling of the 2011 5.0

I just took a stock 5.0 mustang down the other day in my 06 gto. 2 digs and three 40 rolls... got him everytime. I am very lightly modded, with clutch setup, short shifter, cai on a stock tune. They are fast though... first good mustang in a while, they seemed to do much better from a dig then on a roll.

@JRA1321 An automatic 5.0 doesnt do all that good from a roll...The LS2 GTO's can match up with a 2011 Camaro SS too, its all gonna depend on driver, traction, and auto or manual (with Ford is HAS to be a manual) as a 06 GTO, 11 SS, and 11 5.0 are all really close in stock times and power ratings...
