My 95 le S/C (supercharged) gets up to speed real quick. I manage 22 mpg in city and 27 in highway with 8 adults in the van...Now im very impressed how this unusual engine and being a inline 4 cylinder (2.4) can handle anything I throw at it. for the looks of this mini, I'd say...timeless! Happy vannin people. :)
@youmils03 Because, I love the Toyota Previa. I always have. If there's one vehicle I believe deserves the honour of being considered "ugly", it's the Toyota Sienna. Ugh!
I thought the previa was a great looking minivan... I mean, minivans in general are just ugly bloated boxes on wheels, so for what it is... and from the early 90's no less.... very nice looking mini van Imho, and the interior is cool too. The "UGLIEST minivan" award has got to go to the pontiac Aztec
Better, more fun and campier than the VW & BMW's I owned. Indestructable, great relaxed drive and considering it's looks... I would say 'different'. For 'ugly' see Fiat Multipla!
I personally think the Previa is the best minivan to date. I mean, it had a standard-issue supercharger starting in '95 (I think; if not '95, then '96), it was RWD (or AWD if you had that option), and I don't mind the looks at all. Hell, I'd turn it into a pro-am drifter, haha. It's been done before in Japan, where not here in America :P
I go to high school in my previa and anyone that knows me knows how proud I am of my car. Best car out there I literally wouldn't trade it for anything else
I own a 1997 of this minivan I bought it brand new and its got only 120,000 miles on it and it still runs great. This minivan is a reliable and a safe vehical. It just looks like a bubble.
@greeneyegirl007 My Parents really bought my minivan brand new I inherited it about 5 years ago Its really funny yours is called the egg my little nieces are almost 3 and their always excited to see it their say "bubble van bubble van" their very bright at their age 2 nice to talk to you greeneygirl007 your story is very funny by the way did you hide any easter eggs in "The Egg" lol ^_^
Yep, fine fan, but ugly. I drive a '93 previa le. Strong van, my dad let it sit for 3 years without doing anything to it. we had to get repairs wich was less than 2000. I still have a cracked windsheild and my rims fell off. Also, my headlights sag down, i have to use highbeam just to see at night time. But, overall its a good van. It just started up fine. I'm 18 and I'm proud to drive this van. 181k miles and still running strong!
i can relate my 94 is holdin up fine im 19, the van is AWESOME...som think its ugly...my gurls like it lots of room for fun on da inside jus take out tha middle seat ;)
you can buy a headlight polishing kit at any auto parts store for under $20 and they will look like new. The turtle wax kit is $9 I think. I just did mine...
oh man they are workhorses. mine is 240k miles and still runs smooth. no need for timing belt replacement cause they have chains. u dont see a lot of these in junkshops that tells u a lot.
The Toyota Previa is the best minivan ever built. Its design and reliability is the most advanced qualities of its time. Who would ever think of putting the engine under the seat really? Some people have the common first impression that the van is ugly, which i admit happened to me when we first got our previa. But once i started to drive it, i grew a love for it. It is a fantastic vehicle and gets me about 18 for L.A. driving... and thats pretty good considering traffic here.
Toyota Previas are not Ugly. The Ugly vans are Caravan Sienna Odyssey Montana and all other minvans. Some Previas have all Trax and a supercharger like the one I have a 95 Previa DX/SC. Just bought a new filter that increases horsepower and acceleration than stock. It might be faster than all Caravans.
The Toyota Previa design, remains to this day, decades ahead of its time. There is nothing on the road that looks as good even today. A 95 Previa looks better than anything on the raod in 2009. Those that disagree and those that you just dont worry about other than what other decisions they make in daily life. They run for 300k miles plus and the all Trac version walks over anything. ANY American piece of junk would be 200 feet under a pile of other american cars at the junkyard by then.
They are HIDEOUS but still; I used to own one at the time of their debut and mine drove through muddy terrains, up steep rocks, through camping trips. Eventually died down in 2004 (was 12 years old, I believe).
I agree with you. I think it's a hot design. The Chevy Astro or Ford Aerostar are among some of the uglier vans. I will admit that the gold color is ugly and the spoiler is pretentious.
the previa had a very different design from every van at the time all others were square looking and all the new vans after that followed its shape and it is far from ugly, the chevy lumina and aerostar are what you call ugly the previas are far from ugly
the stock alloys are ugly. I've seen Previas with JDM alloys and they look really cool...they lighten up the car a lot, in other words, it doesn't look like a big fat box, with more sophisticated wheels...check out the Rota Slipstream, I have those on my van, it actually looks sorta sporty. I'm not sure what got into Toyota either, putting those spoilers on everything!
Ugliest?? Why? only because is different from the others? I believe is one of the fewest that will remain in the future. and the ugliest for me is the caravan of same year
Try Unique, like NOTHING else out there. It will become a novelty...The average Previa has 300k+ on the original drivetrains... and are fast developing a following..a "cult" if you can call it that... a Future Classic...Trust me..The VW Bus of the 90s...
That's what people keep saying. "It's not ugly! It's awesome! And they last a while." Really? It looks like a lunch box that someone has been stepping on. But that's just my impression. It probably gets like 12 miles per gallon. It probably gets to 60 miles per hour in like... 15 seconds. Why are these trucks so special?
I've done an easy 100 plus miles an hour with mine but the main thing is economics being great ex. on gas for a 4 cylinder and the only cash I have spent in 3 years on it is a friggin 40$ water pump and a buddy charged me 10$ to put her on. 4wd,turbo,tons of space, never break down,etc.. the only thing is i wish they has a standard and diesel one..they do but in UK with the Lucida model. These vans are easily the best deal on the road for used vehicles..period.
@youmils03 they are aerodynamic and actually have more pick up and go than u think. the 91's i know last forever with minor problems usually ac doesnt work and the drive shaft needs to be replaced eventually. i have one with 205,000 drives like a dream and my friend has one with 675,000 and still driving it. it has a strange engine.. under the drivers seat. i painted this van black... loook waaaay better black than it did blue. waaaaaay better.
wow this van is so sexy! i bet if you dropped it and set a body kit in, it would look much more sportier than it already is! man, toyota sure knows how to design a nice looking minivan! its look is timeless, unlike those bulky ugly boxed american poops.
Wow, you have a completely different opinion from what I have. Yes, some minivans are boxy (Chevy Uplander, Chrysler Town-And-Country), but I just think that the front bumper does not match what seems to be a true minivan.
Looks nice. A million times nicer than a ford aerostar
