  • There is definitely energy loss when going from DC to AC, but it's usually 10% or less, depending on your inverter. I use AC for everything except the frig and freezer and water pumps which are all DC. I agree that it's better not to have to have your inverter on to run the frig and freezer. They are more expensive than AC appliances but well worth it - they are so efficient. I went with Sundanzer and have been very happy with them.

  • I am extremely new to living green but i will be getting a starter solar panel soon for a hobby and intro into a more green lifestyle. I have heard though that there is a lot of energy loss in the conversion from DC to AC and that in some cases it is better to get DC appliances. What is your view on this please? Am i mislead in thinking that things like freezers are better DC because they are on all the time?
