  • Dude, right-click>Save Link As. Hellllooooo?

  • @ChozoSR388 Doesn't work in all browsers. wget is just more linuxy anyway, it's your friend, you should get to know wget. Follow wget with a dozen downloadable links and it will get them all for you while you go have a beer. Better than clicking a mouse button repeatedly.

  • Oct. 12, 2011. Vectorlinux just posted latest release candidate rc 3.4 on Distrowatch website. This is a much newer than used in this video. This should be last RC before final release of Vectorlinux 7.0. Anyone curious about what they see here should give it a try.

  • @megalodonNL If your just starting Linux don't shy away from the command line, there is still a lot of power to be found there. I tend to prefer to slip in command line activity when I can, now you know wget and a little of what it can do.

  • You can also ust right click the link and hit "Save link" instead of doing this impractible download method.

  • r uu kidding me? i went through the whole tutorial and by the end you say you need the CD!

  • @Genocide2242 just go to the pirate bay .org and download the doom cds

  • 10.04 completly installed when I rey and run in terminal I get that message

  • What I fone does all this and he gets

    Unknown command 'vid_restart'

    idRenderSystem::Shutdown()

    Sys_Error: Couldn't load default.cfg

    as an error

  • @gatana1 What OS are you installing on.

  • ok i downloaded the file installed it my computer says doom3 is installed but when i run it. i get nothing. were do i get those files u were talking about?

  • @ubuntunoobz The instructions are for those that own the cd's for Doom 3. The files I was speaking of are from the cd's.

  • hey (srry for asking so much questions (: ) i downloaded doom3 and tried to install ROE, its still saying the same thing :S ..!! PS: i didnt install doom3, i downloaded the portable files... plz help

  • @avoakrabian Sorry. I think you have to install the full doom 3 game. If the portable files work I don't know about it. Maybe you can find something with a google search.

  • hey guys i need help. i downloaded doom3 resurruction of evil... im trying to install it,IT says ""setup could not determine the current version of ur doom3 installation, please verify that the game has been properly installed""!!!! helpp guys! (its windows btw)

  • @avoakrabian My first question would be...do you have doom 3 installed. resurrection of evil is an expansion pack that required the original game to be installed.

  • @vid4ken hey no man, i dont have the original game installed... but im gonna download that too... can you tell me what to do to play ROE, after i download the original...? thnx man

  • @avoakrabian I don't think you will have any trouble once you have Doom 3 (the original full game) installed. You should be able to just run the installer for ROE it will detect the presence of the full version and allow you to proceed with the install of ROE.

  • @vid4ken aha... ok thanx verry much man.. i got it...! im gonna download the original game now... and BTW... thnx for replying so quickly.... there are some other asshole who dont reply at all ! :D thanx man

  • @vid4ken hey another simple question... when i have the full doom 3 game, and i run the installation of ROE, i will then have 2 games?? (doom3 and doom 3 ROE) or like ROE will replace the original doom3???

  • @avoakrabian You will have two games, enjoy.

  • In ubuntu, it will not allow me save. it claims that the directory is not found

  • All that just to install Doom 3 on Linux...no wonder I gave Linux the flick! What a pain in the ass! Haven't Linux coders ever heard of Installer programs?

  • @Fridgemusa Yawn. If you knew anything about Linux, you'd know that you don't have to do this to install all programs.

  • Hi, everytime I try to open the doom3-linux it says Cant open....I did all you did up to that point but I cannot progress, I am using Karmic Koala 9.10.

  • Did you alter the permissions so the file can run like a program and are you using sudo?

  • Yes to both your questions, but still same

  • Give me a day or so to load up Karmic Koala on one of my machines and I'll get back to you

  • Thank you, sorry for late reply but i never got an emailing stating you had replied......Strange, but anyways thank you again.

  • Yes. While there is a choice to install to a home directory, the hope in the tutorial was that by doing the install to the root directory then the menu entries would install to /usr/share/applications automatically. This does happen but doom3 appears under the category of 'other' on my system.

  • This doesn't work for me. At all.

  • Which Linux distribution are you trying to install to. Also, is it Doom 3 you are installing or an expansion pack?

  • Hey actually i spoke too soon. I got the installer to work on Ubuntu Karmic 9.10 to a point. Because I wasn't root, I could not copy the .pak files from my CD to the file under usr\local\games\doom3. Does this mean I have to be logged in as root?
