HIV is a Lentevirus, with only three small strands of RNA, no nucleus, no DNA, no organelles, and close to no internal structure: it is a VERY simple organism, which makes it a huge problem. The larger and more complex micorganisms are much easier to kil, as there are many venues of attack. The fact that you and the other AIDS denialists do not understand biochemistry makes it hard for you to understand the mechanisms involved.

According to AVERT stats for the UK: " In 2010, there were 6,136 new diagnoses of HIV, contributing to a cumulative total of 114,766 cases reported by the end of December 2010. As of December 2010, there have been 26,791 diagnoses of AIDS in the UK, and 19,912 people diagnosed with HIV have died."

And the fact that the 70's is right after the Government started sending people into space which is where we're currently doing a lot of drug manufacturing because of the ease of free falling. Its is plausible that they could have made it.
