The most beautiful song ever written and by a Canuck, no less. Just the same, thanks to a southern boy that taught me more about Canada than any Canadian singer except maybe Gordon Lightfoot.
Thanks so much for uploading this tune, it sure reminds me of my father. I think he played the grooves off of this album. Remember when albums had grooves?
i like this song...i love canada...and i'm a model railroader who has some canadian pacific locomotives.....but i live in the U.S. funny huh.....LOL.....
In 2006, my wife and I visited our Daughter and son-in law in Fort McMurray, Alberta, and this music brings back many, mant, pleasant memories of our time there
I have this song and and 21 others sung by Ray Griff who is the writer of all of them, it is a tremendous album, let me know if this would interest you.
EXCEPT,I think you'll find the steelie is Pete Drake...........Check the album liner notes. :-) As I recall, the two steel players on the album were Pete Drake and Stuart Basore............
My dad used to have this album, can't find it anywhere now. I've always loved this track. I have a very early recording of George uploaded please have a look if you like this
When I first heard this song in 1970 it inspired me to go to Canada and travel the mighty CPR East to West from Toronto to Vancouver. Thank you George ,you made my dream come true.
I have this album too - also very old and well-loved. Sorry, can't help you - but enjoy it - crackles and all - its what then was all about......................And your English is a darn sight better than my German! No apologies needed! :-)
We went to Canada and so the canadian pacific dont think we will go again due to age but oh it was wonderful. this reminds me of the great time we had
well, he is coming to the village of alma , new brunswick, at the baptist church on Sept. 5/09, free offering....and the village is right next door to Fundy National Park and is a quaint little piece of heaven....thought I would let you all know...great song, and singer!!!!
What can I say about this song. It has been a part of my life as long as I can remember. The best of the best of country music. It echos down the years and takes me back again, to better, long time forgotten days.........Thanks a million george. Ray Deer
I echo your sentiments, Ray. This is my all time favorite song and it really was the best of country music and a time in life when things weren't so crazy. I wonder if George still does the odd concert?
Thanks Lockstar48. Don't know where you are. I am currently residing in the south shropshire hills UK, but I would love to hear george hamilton live. Well, we can dream can't we.
Hi cidermanmart, I envy you. Me being seventy and all, Whilst you my friend are still a spring chicken. But you know what? One of the things I love about country music is that it is ageless, timeless, and totally universal!!! rsvp. Ray
Remember these songs up in the north country in a cottage by a lake listening to the loons and the different wild animals. Yes a different more innocent error then.

Glad you enjoyed it. He always referred to Canada with much fondness.
And remember, this song is 40 odd years old - so well done to Canada for retaining so much of its 'oldness'. :-)

I'd never want to move away from SK, but if I were to visit any other province again, it would definately be BC.
