I do blame the Dem. congress under RR and the GOP congress *in part*. A President is paid to lead. Overspending Congress and poor Economic policy by the new adm. leaves us all in trouble.
The GOP said that Clinton's surplus came from Reagan somehow; that Bush II's initial dwonturn was Clinton's fault.
DEms and GOP love to spend. Don;t assume anyone (me) is not Independent/Conservative.
A man in his 70s does not get over taking a bullet(s) too fast.
Pollops? I'll take your word 4 it - but I believe he also had skin cancer & colon cancer. I'll check.
My point is: his second term was a failure because most likely he was no longer up for the job or he simply wasn't the President the country hoped for - detaching himself from "the turkeys" as he put it.
He really should have resigned - although maybe Nancy's astrologist said that was not a good idea.
The economy that Obama inherited was by the worst in history; maybe Reagan's economy was worse. I'll leave that one to you. On second thought, Bush IIs was worse. Unprecedented need to *act*!!
Obama said it "flat out". So what. |The GOP wants to build a cathedral around a phrase used on the campaign trail - propaganda at its' most sophisticated.
before I get gotcha'd 4 no good reason, ys, FDR inherited the worst economy. To
repeat, Obama inherited something alot worse than what was offered to Bush I and Clinton - a near depression on top of the Iraqi war pushed by those lovable slam-dunk Bushmen; high crime as a result of non-enforcement of immigration policies (Dems & GOP to blame) & healthcare in crisis.
Like FDR ("that Socialist!!"), he had to take drastic measures. Yes, he keeps pointing to Bush II - but the context is relevant.
Speaking of the 4 trillion dollar debt , S & L scandal, trade deficit, still broken air-traffic controller system, he mishandled, left to Bush I and Clinton.
Yes, Carter's was pretty bad - very high inflation, high unemploy., gov't waste, etc. But the oil embargo was one of the worst things a President had to contend with.
Of course they are. I hope you're someone who hates them on principle, however, and not because you are a FOX news fan. If you are, then you are a hypocrite of the worst kind. All news is a joke.
I watchd Fox alot up till about 3 years ago - got disgusted with the use of a cable station as a political headquarters for/Media wing of the RNC. And hannity's repetitions.
MSNBC is also very biased but at least there's some humour there and very literate hosts.
Don't like Obermann's rants, though the actual content is pretty strong. In an imagined "open" debate (no ear-pieces, no teleprompter, no flash cards, or hand notes), with say, Sean H. & Greta VS, do U think Keith O. & Rachel M. would *lose*?
Fox's..are Murdoch memo parrots. MSNBC might use Media Mattrs, etc., more intelligent. Both biased, but I said I can take MSNBC's bias ovr Fox's-more literate & funnier, in my op. Gotta say, O'Reilly is funnier than Obermann & has a better format.
"In an imagined "open" debate (no ear-pieces, no teleprompter, no flash cards, or hand notes), with say, Sean H. & Greta VS, do U think Keith O. & Rachel M"
well you nailed it there
Keith Olbermann is afraid to debate anyone. thats why he never has ANYONE on with an opposing viewpoint
Rachel does. i give her that
as for "Hitler knew that the German people - at that time - were deeply anti-semitic"
i see similarities in that and Obama and "fat cat bankers"
The idea of painting a Hitler mustache on a President's photo should leave anyone over 14 speechless. Don't recall seeing that idiocy but if I did I'm sure I said nothing, just shook my head.
Regarding the "p" word - please look at the PC monitor, not the mirror when you do a youtube comment.
I said I "don't recall" but if I did I'd think it was idiotic. That's a little diffrent from "I never saw a Hitler mustache on a Bush poster". If I didn't one, I'm sure alot of people did, and I hope they remarked how juvenile and ignorant such a practice is.
@Janetvdl The comparison is spot on. Your bias skews your vision.Look into Olberman's repeated comments on Scott Brown and tell me he is not a raving lunatic.
notice how when a Republican criticizes a fellow Republican, it is EARTH SHATTERING "news" to MSNBC and its ilk. and yet you couldnt find a single Dem talking head willing to say that Obama, with clearly LESS Executive experience than Palin, wouldnt be up for the job?
and look where we are now... cant nominate anyone that doesnt break the law... cant tell us what the plan is for the economy... hell cant even spell "RESET" in Russian on that little tinker toy trinket they used for a photo op
i know you must definitely have proof/transcripts/video of Palin saying those things
Obama's economic plan isnt "problematic"... it is idiotic
you dont spend money you dont have, to not create jobs, and then 1 yr later say "everybody knows that SMALL BUSINESS is the ENGINE of job creation..." - all while raising taxes on anyone making $200k
HELLO?!?! that IS small business!
all while claiming HIS plan "created 1mil new jobs" (incl 50 'employees' with the purchase of 1 lawnmower?)
His resume may be light, but not unimpressive. JFK, Quayle, NIxon, and a ton of others were not business people; Reagan was a totally corrupt President of the SAG and a decent Govrnor of CA - whre he should have stayed - he's an example of when a resume needs a second look.
Obama as Social Worker in a tough, urban setting is nothing to mock.
U been watchin' Fox news & the Obama vilification machine. Your comments straight out of Hannity's yellow pad with Murdoch's instructions.
he was a goon who preyed on the poor & sucked up to the wealthy corrupt Chicago politicians
Reagan was a "totally corrupt President of the SAG"? WTF? where do you get THAT bullshit?
at least those you mentioned had experience
Obama was president tho... of the freakin Harvard Law Review. a fuckin student magazine for campus fucktards that like to see their name in print, as if that makes them "important"
Read up on Reagan's years as Pres. of the SAG. (Also his laundry list of tragic blundrs, like planning visits to Nazi cemetaries; sending 250 marines to Beirut; Iran-Contra & firing of North; 4 trillion dollar debt...but what a resume!).Well, Obama may not have worked under the Civil Servic title of Social Worker but his community work was productive and sophisticated. Unlike your language.
@ensconse HA! BWAHAHAHAHAAAAA!!!!!! you claim Reagan was somehow a "corrupt SAG president" i ask you for your proof of this claim and your responses??? "Read up on..." and "go to google..." (for a conspiracy theorists website no less) and best of all, you reference a comic book A FUCKIN COMIC BOOK!!! ROFLMAO @ U BWAAAHAHAHAHAAAA!! 'ensconse' = the epitome of EPIC FAIL
"Comic book"? So that means the part about Reagan's SAG period is 1000% dismissable? "Conspiracy site"? Maybe...does that mean that 1000% of the info. is erroneous?
I'll get some more references, unless you want to goodle them yourself.
What a stretch, the demi-God Reagan making mistakes!
Did U like his Beirut policy?
He de-regulated us into the near crash of '87, then the 4 trillion dollar debt based upon Supply side: Did U read David Stockman's book? (Not a comic book).
$4trillion debt was based on Keynesian economics not Supply Side
if we hadnt been saddled with useless Medicare/Aid & Soc Security... not to mention the govt tax revenue INCREASED every single year Reagan was President
now i'm just saying, that maybe, JUST MAYBE if gvot didnt routinely spend BILLIONS more than it takes in...
well wouldnt that be a novel concept
figure that... Dem congress then, Dem congress now
Reagan admitted that his economic program was not a success. His man, Stockman, wrote a book about it.
Medicare and Soc. Sec. useless?...by the way RR signed *all* those bad
Democratic bills.
Sure taxes revenues went up - and Reagan spent it like crazy; giving everything to Japan and England. "93 months of growth - great! Based upon his precise program of debt escalation.
By the way, that "comic book" is something called "comic" art, written by some of the best political writers of the day.
You're assuming I love Democrats. They surely messed up alot of things in this country. But RR *signed* those budgets!
He also increased the military budget right after Carter did - mistake. And his unecessary tax break for the very rich gave us a 56 billion dollar hole which took until Clinton to plug.
RR complained about "the other side" but he stopped *leading* . (1st term had alot of Dem. support). RR's second term was run by Nancy & theAstrologist.
Carter did not "increased the military budget" thats absolutely silly "" HA! that old canaard "a rising tide lifts all boats" sucks for libs when a Repub Prez cuts taxes across the board. all they have left is the overall $ amount, which naturally even the smallest % for a wealthier person would be in more actual $ than a poorer person and again you try to have it both ways "(1st term had alot of Dem. support)" and "but he stopped *leading" yet he won biggest landslide ever in 84
Near the end of his term. Well known. / RR tax cuts for the very wealthy gave us that initial 56 billion dollar hole. / RR stopped leading '84/'85 - Iran-Contra disaster, firing War Hero North. He was very successful & impressive for much of his 1st term, got Congress focused. Maybe it was his cancer, the assassination attempt...second term a failure, as the deficit and debt soared. Immigration policy, trade deficit, etc., hurt the country.
not to mention, in all the talk of "bipartisanship" floating in the media ether today, Reagan compromising with Dems to get his tax cuts passed by agreeing to some of their pet projects, while saddle with ever burgeoning Soc Sec & Medicare wastes & overspending... yet he somehow, according to you - "failed to lead"
.....above: running against the dynamic duo, I may have won. RR's popularity rating was pretty low in '84 - the de-reg. philosophy became problematic - and all those folks in the middle who loved that temporary real estate boom saw they needed 3 jobs to sustain.
Again...the last 4-5 years undid alot of the promise of his early adm,
Corrupt cabinet didn't help him either.
(RR didn't need Congress to spend & spend & expand government.....check it out).
Catch me every time. Good one. / That was no comic book. Read the (pause) written parts.
If a political book with an unusual format is bothersome, try the Stockman book, THe Man Who Sold The World by Kleinnecht; Out of Control (Iran-Contra) by
Cockburn. There's also I book I had which layed out transcripts of the Gipper's press conference answers - now *that* would make a *real* comic book.
He had a shorter resume but is a 3 page resume as aopposed to a 2.5 page resume the ultimate standard?
If no Dem. said Obama was unqualified, that sounds vry plausible. Palin is a special case, as a nice person who is at last 8 years away from being even a Junior Senator. She got pretty strong support from Exxon to be that "Governor" in the land that looks out at Russia.
Why shouldn't intelligent design be in question 'eldrad235'? The scientific evidence against it is overwhelming to say the least. Are we supposed to ignore facts now? Science is evil is it? I can't stand religious zealot nutjobs. It's because of people like you that a complete imbecile like Sarah Palin could even be considered for VP. You are the cancer that is killing America.
@tuor1984 wrong. the scientific THEORIES against it is overwhelming. look up theory. nothing is proven with definite evidence that supports or denies intelligent design, stories from the bible, evolution, the big bang theory, etc. the thing is you beleive what you beleive and dont beleive what you dont. keep it movin. saah palin an imbecile? yes, she is, she shouldnt have gotten anywhere near a presidental ticket, but NOT because of her religious beleifs
@cletedawgthewalmart "wrong. the scientific THEORIES against it is overwhelming."
Wrong, imbecile. Look up "Scientific Theory", you'll find it is far different than the word "theory" in common parlance. It is NOT a hypothesis, or something waiting to be "proven", it is the highest form of certainty that science proclaims. You know, little things like cell theory, germ theory, and the theory of gravitation. These, along with the Theory of Evolution, are things that help humanity progress.
take that hill, could you be ANY more ignorant and bigoted? it is your EXACT ATTITUDE that can only be seen from McCain supporters, I have found. seriously, think about what you say before you post, ass...
there are so many ignorant people on youtube! First off i don't support either party since they are each owned by the largest corporations in the world. The republican party is now a joke, palin shouldn't even be talked about, thanks for giving voters one choice. Most of obama's ideas are solid but he won't be able to accomplish them when owned by these corporations. Wow, muslim? that's just as bad as christian! it doesn't matter what he is as long as he keeps his policies free from religion.
You are all fucking idiots if you actually think that this country would allow a terrorist become prez...oh wait, you all elected a retard for two straight terms, so anything is possible
MCCAIN has been a blindly lockstep conservative and has no history of being somewhat of a maverick himself. I'll still take my chances with OBAMA. Given a choice between someone accused of being "Bush III" and someone who definitely IS A COOL GUY. I'll gladly take OBAMA. Vote OBAMA or you will regret it bigtime when PALIN OINKS us to disaster.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I'm always amused when someone can't come up with an original thought so they have to copy someone else's post. You are sooo amusing... Obama bin Biden will ruin what's left of our economy and what's sad is that all the ignorant Libtard sheep will follow him right down the drain with smiles on their faces. But hey, he's "cool" so it's OK, right?
George Will, despite what the Lib-bots at PMSNBC would have you believe, has never been a blindly lockstep conservative and has a long history of being somewhat of a maverick himself, so his critique here isn't huge news. I'll still take my chances with Johnny Mac. Given a choice between someone accused of being "Bush III" and someone who definitely IS Karl Marx II, I'll gladly take Bush III. Vote Mc Cain or you will regret it bigtime when Obama leads us to disaster.
It's not about his criticism of McCain being "huge news"... it is about it being FACT. Will is correct and McCain would be a disasterous president. This country is already in a disaster, and to add a McCain presidency to the disaster we are in, is frightening. Will is right.
You are absolutely wrong. George Will has ALWAYS been a lockstep conservative. For him to say something good about an actual Democrat (although not a liberal one) is a very different step for him.
Obama *did* inherit a "disaster". Has worked to prevent complete ruin. Guess you wanted the status quo - you think the economy would have been better? You think we wouldn't be getting deeper into the Iraq war with no end in sight?
Karl Marx II - wow, that "spread it [the wealth] around" statement to J. Plumber must have solidified it 4 you!
and buckley endored obama 2...yet mccain still thinks the liberal media is OUT TO GET HIM...just pathetic...obama get 55% and 330 electoral votes on 11-4-08
Hulk, s very true & perfect. Another mess this "maverick" has created for himself. A dis-organized, un-steady, & un-focused campaign and then Palin. OMG talk about shooting yourself in the foot. Maverick's belong in cowboy movies, not the Whitehouse. Plus he is NOT a maverick, he is a desperate old man wanting to make up for his failures to live up to his daddy's legacy. Rolling Stone's 10/16 issue speaks to his REAL life story. This is a man who has lost HIMSELF in his quest for glory.
This is George Will arguably the smartest and best of the conservative writers. I am awed by his polished writing and his suggesting that McCain is unsuitable for the presidency is phenomenal. I am flabbergasted.
Will doesn't carry water for McCain or Bush 43, so he is consistent here. Will is one of the most insightful conservatives around. I think many in the conservative movement don't pay attention to Will because he is challenging & thought provoking. When they have the shrillness of the Sean Hanitys in this world, why bother with thinking. For this reason, I don't think Will's column will amount to much.
i admit palin is an idiot, but doesn’t atheism lead to the rejection of objective truth claims? If so how is Dostoevsky’s claim "if god is not, anything is permissible”, not accurate? i think this is why so many people are more attracted to her seemingly absurd policies than products of a pragmatic- atehistic scholastic machine. Obama said it "flat out". So what. |The GOP wants to build a cathedral around a phrase used on the campaign trail - propaganda at its' most sophisticated.
ensconse 1 year ago
before I get gotcha'd 4 no good reason, ys, FDR inherited the worst economy. To
repeat, Obama inherited something alot worse than what was offered to Bush I and Clinton - a near depression on top of the Iraqi war pushed by those lovable slam-dunk Bushmen; high crime as a result of non-enforcement of immigration policies (Dems & GOP to blame) & healthcare in crisis.
Like FDR ("that Socialist!!"), he had to take drastic measures. Yes, he keeps pointing to Bush II - but the context is relevant.
ensconse 1 year ago
"The economy that Obama inherited was by the worst in history; maybe Reagan's economy was worse"
Reagan "inherited"(such a stupid premise) a worse economy
higher interest rates, higher unemployment, higher "misery index," higher tax burden on public & corporations
being an "independent" just means you want to be courted by both sides... to feel important
you either have a core set of beliefs that are stronger to one side or the other
"independent" may as well mean lonely
Zaxxon2008 1 year ago
Speaking of the 4 trillion dollar debt , S & L scandal, trade deficit, still broken air-traffic controller system, he mishandled, left to Bush I and Clinton.
Yes, Carter's was pretty bad - very high inflation, high unemploy., gov't waste, etc. But the oil embargo was one of the worst things a President had to contend with.

Unlike your language.

What a stretch, the demi-God Reagan making mistakes!
Did U like his Beirut policy?
He de-regulated us into the near crash of '87, then the 4 trillion dollar debt based upon Supply side: Did U read David Stockman's book? (Not a comic book).
ensconse 1 year ago
$4trillion debt was based on Keynesian economics not Supply Side
if we hadnt been saddled with useless Medicare/Aid & Soc Security... not to mention the govt tax revenue INCREASED every single year Reagan was President
now i'm just saying, that maybe, JUST MAYBE if gvot didnt routinely spend BILLIONS more than it takes in...
well wouldnt that be a novel concept
figure that... Dem congress then, Dem congress now
trillions in debt over 8 years then
trillions in deficit in1 year now
Zaxxon2008 1 year ago
Reagan admitted that his economic program was not a success. His man, Stockman, wrote a book about it.
Medicare and Soc. Sec. useless?...by the way RR signed *all* those bad
Democratic bills.
Sure taxes revenues went up - and Reagan spent it like crazy; giving everything to Japan and England. "93 months of growth - great! Based upon his precise program of debt escalation.
By the way, that "comic book" is something called "comic" art, written by some of the best political writers of the day.
ensconse 1 year ago
wait... so you admit that a Democrat Congress wrote all thise spending bills and passed them...
YET you wont give them credit for "...spent it like crazy; giving everything to Japan and England"
apparently all that was Reagans fault
so NOW your REwritten history is that Democrat Congress WANTED tax cuts, but Reagan WANTED INCREASED spending???
Zaxxon2008 1 year ago
You're assuming I love Democrats. They surely messed up alot of things in this country. But RR *signed* those budgets!
He also increased the military budget right after Carter did - mistake. And his unecessary tax break for the very rich gave us a 56 billion dollar hole which took until Clinton to plug.
RR complained about "the other side" but he stopped *leading* . (1st term had alot of Dem. support). RR's second term was run by Nancy & theAstrologist.
Read Stockman's book.
ensconse 1 year ago
Zaxxon2008 1 year ago
Near the end of his term. Well known. / RR tax cuts for the very wealthy gave us that initial 56 billion dollar hole. / RR stopped leading '84/'85 - Iran-Contra disaster, firing War Hero North. He was very successful & impressive for much of his 1st term, got Congress focused. Maybe it was his cancer, the assassination attempt...second term a failure, as the deficit and debt soared. Immigration policy, trade deficit, etc., hurt the country.
ensconse 1 year ago
not to mention, in all the talk of "bipartisanship" floating in the media ether today, Reagan compromising with Dems to get his tax cuts passed by agreeing to some of their pet projects, while saddle with ever burgeoning Soc Sec & Medicare wastes & overspending... yet he somehow, according to you - "failed to lead"
hmmmmm
Zaxxon2008 1 year ago
.....above: running against the dynamic duo, I may have won.
(RR didn't need Congress to spend & spend & expand government.....check it out).
ensconse 1 year ago
contd...
Reagan expressly said that the way to lower govt spending was to cut off the money flowing to the govt
you're right tho, tax revenues went UP... so i guess Reagan WAS wrong... he increased revenue... so Dem Congress raised spending EVEN MORE
BWAAAHAAAHAHAHAHAHAAAA
you want it BOTH WAYS but i catch you every time
btw - LOL @ "comic books"
why dont you just go full nerd and say "graphic novels"
Zaxxon2008 1 year ago

Wrong, imbecile. Look up "Scientific Theory", you'll find it is far different than the word "theory" in common parlance. It is NOT a hypothesis, or something waiting to be "proven", it is the highest form of certainty that science proclaims. The problem with McCain is that he is indeed a maverick.
Being a maverick is excellent if you're a gunslinger living in the american southwest in the late 1800's.
BUT not if you want to steer the airplane of our country into the future with thundering storm clouds all around.
This is ultimately why even conservatives are turning on McCain. They dont want a man who crashed his own airplanes so many times to be given control.
Mavericks makes bold but often foolhardy choices.
