@sclinds nah it was stevens , he was the skipper when i posted on in dec '74.Not a bad bloke but replaced by a complete twat..crazy brian..can't remember his last name tho'
Gee I feel old looking at this, I served on the Melbourne 1981, lots of memories from that tub, especially the old yellow zinc chromate that held it together.
Thanks for the video. I served on Sydney from 1972 through to he being paid of and then transfered to STUART. Bought a tear to my eyes that did it the 1st time Ive seen her in a movie.
I could have swore the last ship being fueld was a Daring Class though or are my old eyes deceiving me. She had a 41/2 Turent aft. Thank you again a magic ship and a Lady to the end.
The last ship refueled was a Daring class, 2 twin 4.5" forward and 1 twin 4.5" aft. I couldn't see the number, but it still had the old open bridge and old style funnels that were updated during the half life refit.
Until 1993 I didn't know much about my Dad, Though the RSL they put me in touch with the HMAS Sydney association in Sydney . A Mr Barry Brooks (Bless Him) took me under his wing and I have marched every ANZAC day with the association ever since. I march proudly every year in honer of my father, its through this association that have I have healed my weeping wounds and the hole in my heart. I'm for ever great full to them (My family of fathers)
Thanks for sharing this clip, my father - Chief Petty Officer - Norman Lee (DIXIE)-{STOKER}. He was on board the Sydney 1967-68, he passed away in 1970. Its little things like these that give me a window into the past to him. Re: David Lee (son).

I din't join the RAN until 1968, but I served on 4 of the 6 DE's. This video brings many memories of RAS. I'm never ashamed to feel the tears well up.
