@13mordeth however you frequently forget to turn off the signal light, which is probably more dangerous than non-signalling; certainly more stupid-looking. Myself, I only indicate for lane changes on fast (40mph+) multi-lane roads and junctions. I don't indicate for overtaking or inner-city lane changes unless it's liable to be misunderstood; instead, I shoulder-check, only move into spaces that are known to be free, and make it clear from body language.
I've seen more accidents caused by people pulling out in front of (usually old) people with their turns signals on and no intention of turning then I care to count - I never trust them. It's a good way to, as Mordeth13 said in this video oh so long ago, get creamed by a car doing 130 kph because you want to do a slow turn across their path and the senile prick doesn't realize their signal is on.
at around 4:35 there's the 2 guys rideing mandom on the scooter(i know this is an everyday occurance in taiwan but its still funny :P)...im sorry but comin from the states this cracks me up. the guy on the back might aswell have his legs rapped around the drivers waist, with a rainbow flag streamin off the back of the scooter lol.
I intend on buying a cruiser next because I already have a 2000 Yamaha YZF-R1. I would like to try the riding position of a Japanese cruiser. That way, I would have the best of both worlds
15 bucks for a bike bar? I spent 75 bucks for the one for my dh rig. I tell ya what, I bet dh bar could last just as long as a decent bar specific for a motor cycle.
But on the side note, just picked up a new Yamaha YZ8, and I like the more upright sitting position. Plan on riding from Bar Harbor, Maine to Seattle, WA in a month with my friends. I find this position much better for riding long distances. Plus I don't have any tracks by my place. I guess it is all personal preference

It seems like you guys on scooters go through a lot of red lights. You stop first, then check for on coming traffic then drive through the red light. (1:44) What are the laws in Taiwan about that?
@balinne pretty sure its against the law in taiwan but it seems that a lot of people do it anyway. you can't turn right on red in taiwan either but people still do it.

It's actually safer to blow past a car at a higher speed because one, the longer a little thing hovers in a cars blind spot the higher chance he doesn't see the motorcycle and two, why does it matter if there is two lanes? Plus in driving school they tell you to accelerate past a car when passing it so that is like driving a car. Happy?
@memamomum Usually it won't slip into neutral.. just click it hard enough .. but if it does the revs just shoot up. no harm done. just be careful going back into gear. :) hope this helps

You forgot to mention those who leave their signals on, and then almost plow into you when you turn in front of them. That's why, even when someone's coming at me with a turning signal on, I just wait for them to begin their turn before turning myself. That's at least a problem here in Florida.

I mean from my own experience which of course isn't very.. inclusive yet, but I have been to a few "close calls" and always the other party (the "faulty" party for that matter) was a woman.

Naturally the statistic for the number of fatalities would be higher if the proportion of those suffering fatalities is itself greater than the proportion apparently not suffering fatalities. But lemme ask you this, how many fatalities are caused by women? Men may die driving cars, and women may not, but more people MIGHT be killed BY women.

i always use my signal light, and usually try and help riders in traffic. when im driving in the back of a motorcycle, and he can't pass the next car infront of him, i always get in his right side or left side, in case he falls off his bike i wont run over him. I also allow bikes to pass me by moving to the right side of the road. I hope bikers apreciate it

i was in the same situation, sitting at a stop sign wanting to make a left turn, and there was a car coming but they had their signal on to turn right.. so, i start to pull out since they were slowing down and all, but at the last second they decide that it wasnt the right street to turn off at and continue going straight and i had to stop again. . so i almost got in an accident because of them signaling even though the driver was a dumbass

its a piss take. after less than a month of riding i was going down a 50mph road then car ahead brakes hard and starts to slow, i thn signal and go to pass it thn it swings out to turn right without signaling into a new enterance into a construction site which i wasn't aware off. He cause me to swerve far into the right lane, lucky there wasn't a car. all he had to do was signal and i'd happily wait for him to turn.1!

I trust turn signals as much as I trust my government (not at all). I've seen far too many times people with signals on and not turn and many times signal off and turn. IF EVERYONE properly used their signals.. most accidents would be avoided.. at least where I'm at.

Naturally the statistic for the number of fatalities would be higher if the proportion of those suffering fatalities is itself greater than the proportion apparently not suffering fatalities. But lemme ask you this, how many fatalities are caused by women? Men may die driving cars, and women may not, but more people MIGHT be killed BY women.
Possibly, just a thought for conversation ^_^ Idc either way who's at fault

i always use my signal light, and usually try and help riders in traffic. when im driving in the back of a motorcycle, and he can't pass the next car infront of him, i always get in his right side or left side, in case he falls off his bike i wont run over him. I also allow bikes to pass me by moving to the right side of the road. I hope bikers apreciate it

i was in the same situation, sitting at a stop sign wanting to make a left turn, and there was a car coming but they had their signal on to turn right.. so, i start to pull out since they were slowing down and all, but at the last second they decide that it wasnt the right street to turn off at and continue going straight and i had to stop again. . so i almost got in an accident because of them signaling even though the driver was a dumbass

well one thing i gotta say, i dont hate bikes, just the opposite i think of getting one in the future, but good 80% of bike drivers are fucking idiots, they go 120-150km/h on places where you REALLY should not go above 50-80, its like im switching on a different lane and i got my signal lights and everything but the goddamn fool doesnt see that cuz of his speed and then honks at me for almost killin him, and that happens alot..makes me wanna take my gun and shoot the fucker..

its a piss take. after less than a month of riding i was going down a 50mph road then car ahead brakes hard and starts to slow, i thn signal and go to pass it thn it swings out to turn right without signaling into a new enterance into a construction site which i wasn't aware off. He cause me to swerve far into the right lane, lucky there wasn't a car. all he had to do was signal and i'd happily wait for him to turn.1!

Always let a motorcycle pass you on the road if they are driving recklessly they will crash eventually just don't pull INFRONT of them. I always let motorcycles pass and on country roads even if they are going slower than me I stop and let them go past me by pulling off to the side of the road. Yea that motorcyclist is putting himself at danger going at that rate of speed and weving in and out of traffic passing cars and all that shit. Well someday he'll hit a car and die. I trust turn signals as much as I trust my government (not at all). I've seen far too many times people with signals on and not turn and many times signal off and turn. IF EVERYONE properly used their signals.. most accidents would be avoided.. at least where I'm at.
