  • Is there a video that shows how you joined the blocks together? I think I pretty much understand how you did the blocks. These videos have been very helpful I am a begginer I have only made one small lap quilt with my old machine and it was very frusterating because my machine wasnt made for quilting and I kind of gave up. Last night I went and bought myself a new Brother quilting and sewing machine it has over 100 stitches and seems overwhelming but your videos are helping me gain confidence :)

  • @sunflower2213 Hi, Thanks for asking! I don't have a video up yet on the joining part - it would be an hour or more vid because there are a lot of steps to explain :) A lot of people have asked for it as a class & I'm thinking about how to do that. The best resource right now is the book (on Amazon - in print & for the Kindle). If you have the Kindle app you can learn the whole process from the book - on your computer or ereader. That's the cheapest & easiest way to learn it all right now.

  • @CrazyShortcutQuilts Thanks for replying so fast. I will take a look at amazon... So I can download the book and use it on my laptop? I dont have a kindle so that would be the only way.. Thanks again and love your videos been watching them all day :) Now just have to turn the new machine on and figure out how to use it lol

  • @sunflower2213 Yes - that's the part that is so cool - you can download an app from Amazon that lets you read Kindle books on your PC or MAC. I don't read novels on my computer, but a "how to" book is great on the computer (well, I like it anyway ;) And the Kindle books are LOTS cheaper. What model Brother did you get?

  • @CrazyShortcutQuilts Its a Brother SQ9050 sewing and quilting machine... I love it its a lot nicer then my last one which was a singer simple. I used it yesterday got most of a quilt pieced together just have to finish the border pieces then on to tryng the quilting part of my new machine :)

  • @sunflower2213 Nice! I've heard really good things about Brother machines :) Have fun quilting and msg me if you have any issues. I'll do what I can to help :) ~M

  • @CrazyShortcutQuilts Well funny you should say that on sunday I went to put the borders on and they match up when I lay it down on the floor after I cut them but as soon as I sewed it I ended up off about 1 1/2 maybe even 2 inches at the bottom.. Could it be the foot I'm using? I'm thinking it was just pulling the fabric to much? If there is a foot you recomend It came with almost all that I could need maybe I have it? Thanks :)

  • @sunflower2213 My best guess is that one of the fabrics stretched - if you didn't pin them together. I used to try and wing it and not pin and I'd have the same problem. I am seriously horrible about stretching the fabric when sewing and I don't even realize I'm doing it. It's best to pin the whole length than to have to take out the stitches. I learned that the hard way several times. I really don't think it's your foot, but if you have a walking foot, I love mine & use it for everything I can.

  • @CrazyShortcutQuilts Ok thats what I was thinking that I should of pinned it and was going to try that next time I attempt it. I believe I do have a walking foot. I have never used one before wasnt sure how it works? Thanks again your so helpful! Im still a begginer but im sure I will get the hang of it and be as good as you :)

  • @sunflower2213 The walking foot can be a pain in the neck to put on and off, be sure to put the side bar into the needle bar and attache the top lever. Let me know if you need a short video but the best thing is to check your sewing machine manual in case yours is different from mine ;) You'll be a pro in no time at all!!

  • @CrazyShortcutQuilts Well your advice worked got done with dinner and dishes and I decided to sit down and try it again I pinned it all then sewed it and what do you know perfect seam :) Thanks I guess I wont be winging it anymore lol Have a great night!

  • @sunflower2213 YAY!!! Thx, you too :)

  • You're an angel, Marguerita. I love your philosophy of enjoying the process, not worrying about everything being perfect because quilts are for using and loving. And besides, I don't do "perfect" :-) You give me the courage to dive in and try it! Can't wait to get your book. It's been ordered.

  • @susangm Hi Susan, let's do some embroidery blocks together! I can't wait :) ~M

  • Hey, Marguerita! You got 'er done! Is the book out already??? I love your relaxed approach. How did you quilt the horizontal pink sashing? I'll go watch the playlist now...p.s. got the Horizon...250+ new stitches to play with! Now THAT'S crazy! lol!

    - Angie

  • @a1angiem Whoo Hooo - a new machine to play with - now THAT'S sweet ;) I really, really love the curved lines. You'll be seeing that in more quilts from now on :)

  • Wonderful video, you make machine quilting look so easy! Thanks for sharing.

  • @BLBMZ Thank you so much for watching & commenting - it means a LOT to me :)

  • This lady breaks the quilting rules by quilting across lines and I love the way she keeps it simple and beautiful. She is a great demonstrator of her quilting talents. When she finishes, I know I can do what she does. Her quilting looks great and her blocks look great. I'm subscribing!

  • @marygram839 Thank you!! You are so right - I like to break rules :) And I prefer "getting things done" to following rules or trying to be perfect! Look for some more vids coming soon :) Marguerita
