I'm sorry, but you play a lot of bassnotes unlike the original Jamerson-version e.g.:
the 2nd part of the song, the F#m / Em piece, Jamerson plays fifths there, not octaves! He also doesn't play the F between the F#m and the Em chord on the way down!
And I think that he is not playing the open D and A string in the 1st part of the song, the verse and intro, but the D and A on the 5th fret!
Listen to the bassnotes more carefully! Nevertheless nice playing, nice old fashioned sound!
@ahaaaaaaaaah Hey that's true it does sound like he was missing off a little bit on the second part. But I''m just happy to see he's been influenced ny the best, and he should pay a liitle more attenton.... but great...
You need to shut the hell up!.....If you want it done the way you say it should be done then post a video on here with YOU playing. This man took the time to post this and here you are with your birdsh%t.....I'd bulldog you out to the street if I could.
@ty73us All of Jamerson's basslines are driving..(Upbeat tempos) I don't know how anyone can sit still...I can't and quite obviously, you can't either...LOL
james jamerson is the very reason why I got into playing the bass- his style is incredible and you've got it down to perfection! actually, you've made me very jealous, lol! I'm going back to practice...
the exact same reason i went out and bought myself a bass this year. im 32 but i figure its never too late to learn. i grew up with my parents listening to this stuff and i know all of these songs but i never knew about jamerson until last summer. thats when i decided to try to learn to play.
@theallnew That's great man...Like you said, you are NEVER to old to learn....I learned to play bass in HS...It was the only instrument left...So I learned the upright acoustic bass...My father bought a fender precision bass for my 16th birthday..That was 34 yrs ago...I still have it to this day...My grandson is following in my footsteps...He heard the Temptations song my girl...So now he is hooked on Jamerson too...Good luck... Listen to Brandon Rose...He is 12. On youtube...
Great job man....

Thats if you can get permission from Berry Gordy. It's rare to see someone playing the bass in the Jamerson form on video,it's almost priceless.
