Very poor sound recording, i think it do not deserve the voice and the colors, but i think we can hear the fragility in the timbre as Callas, Cerquetti, Los Angeles etc...
People had high hopes for Sondra because her range is huge, her voice is powerful and her timbre is compelling. But she's no actor, and that makes this aria SO BORING. She paints the entire scene - seemingly the entire opera - with a single vocal color, just like her Tosca, Lucrezia and Leonora. She just wails and wails.
@gustopheles reaction from those who were at the performance seems to have been very positive... and her reputation as a dramatic interpreter has grown considerably since she took on Tosca.... also in-house recordings tend not to capture the range of vocal colours in a big voice like this... the one time I heard her live (Leonora) her performance portrayed a very real person and she had incredible vocal control and expression - maybe time will tell more about her Norma
@LohengrinT I agree that the diction mistakes are too serious to be overlooked. As an international level singer, Radvanovsky really needs to start paying attention to this.
@LohengrinT Sutherland is now part of your holy triad of Normas? And yet you consistently put her down in your comments on other videos. Is this, as I sense, a conveyor belt of who is unacceptable?
The management asked for the public's indulgence, as the soprano was suffering from a lingering cold. However, this indisposition does not figure in her inability to tackle this scene, or the role for that matter. Caballé consulted Callas before attempting the role (see CABALLE TALKS ABOUT MARIA CALLAS on YouTube); perhaps Radvanovsky should have consulted Caballé. This otherwise lovely soprano is going to ruin her voice.
@Onegin65 Do you have the duets w Adalgisa?

Quite a poor recording. Clipping and distortion abound. How can one make judgement on a voice when it is so poorly represented?

Almost inaudible. Unless something is wrong with my speakers.

simply dreadful... the Holly Triad of Norma (Callas, Sutherland and Caballe) remains unapproached
Enormous diction problems, why?

@Cenayon They have not stopped Voigt or Zagik to make an international career, but I agree with you. Poor diction is too distracting, on all of them
