My 16-foot Grizzly wants to pull to the right all the time wiht the trolling motor mounted like that, and it handles funny even when not pulling to the right. I think this winter I'm having the trolling motor re-mounted so it deploys right off the nose.
@stinkypantsAZ We have seen a few issues with the floor rivets in the floor popping. We typically replace the popped or loose rivets with stainless rivets and that usually takes care of the problem.
@smlucas488vs i have the ability to uses a plasma cutter and aluminum welder. do you think if i cut small holes around the rivit and weld the deck to the floor that might work?
@stinkypantsAZ That may work. I personally have not tried it, but I don't see why it wouldn't. Maybe try a few rivets before doing all of them. If they seem to hold, then you could probably do the rest as needed. Only problem would be if you should ever need to take the floor out. It would be a lot easier to remove the rivets.
@NIGHTRIDER995 Jet drive works well. This boat was built for running in shallow water like the upper Susquehanna which you see in the background. With a jet you don't have the same amount of control at lower speeds as a propped boat but if you want to go shallow a jet is the ticket. Just got finished building a second boat like this and it will be at City Island for the Labor Day tournament on Sunday for people to check out. After that it can be seen at Bass Pro shops in Harrisburg. Thanks.
@smlucas488vs OK thanks, that's good to know. I'm getting a 1648 with a MK 70 trolling motor. May get an outboard later, only one of my local lakes allows gas outboards and it's limited to 10HP. Not ideal, but so what....
Nice! Hey does the trolling motor give you any problems being mounted off-center like that? I'm looking at a 1648 myself with a trolling motor since all my local lakes are electric-only.
Where did you find the center console?

@21Barbwire We actually had the console and live well made at a local weld shop.

Thank you! No major issues with the trolling motor mounted off-center. It seems to work just as well as a center mounted trolling motor would.
Thanks for the comment.
