I agree. Ultimates 1 & 2 makes an excellent, and somewhat realistic, story. I used to believe that Millar was a hack after Ultimate X-Men, but he proved himself with Ultimates 1 & 2. I've heard nothing but AWFUL things about Ultimates 3 and Ultimatum. Thankfully Millar will be back for "Ultimate Avengers"!

Agreed. Ult. 3 Sucks. So far Loeb's "Hulk" title is pretty crappy as well. He just seems to be regurgitating old comics without bringing anything new. It's just really stale.

This is a message to everyone who respects the REAL ULTIMATES, so pay attention please: DO NOT BUY ULTIMATES 3!! Take a stand and send the message. I was skeptic but after reading the first two issues -and being a converted fan of the Millar/Hitch work- I can assure you that this is THE worst thing I've seen in a long time. And I've seen a lot!

DO NOT BUY ULTIMATES 3. Bring back Millar and Hitch (or give the art chores to the amazing steve McNiven). Send the message!!!

Hey I am quite new to the Ultimates... only finished reading 1 and 2 recently - I absolutely loved both of them! But comparing to Ultimates 1 and Ultimates 2... is Ultimates 3 really that bad like everyone is saying now? I have not seen it yet and I don't know anything about it atm

Ultimates 1 & 2 are just great superhero comics, the way superhero comics should be,,,

With great story pacing, great character development, great art & mind blowing cinematic action scenes...

Without any of the usual cliches that usually plague the genre...

I've not read three, but i've not heard anything good about it either, even from big fans of the original two titles...

Not a good sign...

Well to give you a rough guide:

Tony is now mainstream marvel Tony and had a change of heart after the end of ultimates 2

hawkeye has turned into a 90's xxxtreme hero

Captain america is now so dumb it hurts

Thor is....well...he's essentially Regular thor but fat and sleeping with a groupie

and for some reason Wasp is white-although that could be the shitty art!

I got the first two issues of Ultimates 3 today. The art is good. I recognize Mad's talent but it's just not my thing. The writing just depresses me. It's pretty disappointing. Perhaps I will not be investing in the rest of the book. *shrug*

I think you guys give WAY! to much credit. You seemed like you were about to say what was really on your minds and then just sugar coated it. The writing is awful! Thor dialouge uck! like they didnt tell Them that this was "THE ULTIMATES". I know they didnt want to copy Millar but its like they just made up there own ultimate "Ultimates",and why does wasp have Red hair and is for some reason no longer Asain? Which none of you brought up.

Ultimates 3 was pretty terrible. Only Joe Mad's art was good, but Loeb's writing in that was horrendous.

I'm gonna get crucified by this but -me being a comic book artist myself- i can say that Joe Mad art is not that good in this title.

Yo can see that it has a way too fantasy-toned feel for a title that is supposed to be operating in a real world situation. The composition is WRONG in so many pages (in the #1 issue you can't tell what's going on in the Hawkeye Vs. Venom fight) and all female characters look the same are just the ones I can recall at the moment.

That is true. I like his art style in general, but the redesigns are terrible and it really doesn't have the"real-world" feeling Ulitmates should have.

I'm glad I've had the time to watch u guys today. Great job. Do a segment sometime on TPB compilations of great story runs. I tend to get TPBs more than monthlies and it would be cool to know when some good ones are out there. TPBs also can put a series into perspective. U oughtta try featuring yer fave TPBs sumtime.

That kinda sucks. Casey's scripted reviews and elaborate costumes and crap was a nice offset to the more casual Stack. I always preferred the Stack, but I really do miss having the other show as well. And Casey was adorable. It will be missed.

Great show as usual. But I sometimes think the reviewing and q&a gets drowned out by too much joking about. Replace the presenters with 3 teenagers with a camera and there probably wouldn't be much difference.
