I'm glad you like my birds but I don't have need to sell at present. Many of my breeders are getting old & I'm building my stock for their passing. Also it requires a veternarian to cross border at around $600 + 45 day quaranteen & the nearest airport is 135 km away. This is the primary reason I don't sell my birds even in Canada is airport distance & I don't need the $. May I suggest Continental Breeding Station in U.S.
Very inspirational videos- I have two pair of homers and their babies are now 27 and 30 days old.
I am neverous about putting them out because there are no other birds to show them how to return into my loft. The adults I dont dare let go because they will go to their old home.
My experience has been that birds of 40 days do best. They are less likely to panic. Remember to call the 1st time they fly with gusto. Always call the same way when feeding right from egg & whistle shake can or blow your whistle. I call hungry, hungry babies, whistle & shake, then hurry up once on loft & whistle louder. Only feed inside. The 1st times get them in anyway you can door so on. I sometimes push them in hole with my pole. Never scare them off loft! Let them choose okay.
Not really needed, do you have other birds with them? Do you just want them & no others to pair? All they really need to get pairing is a nest bowl nailed up in a corner & nest material available, if you have not boxes. They will even lay in litter on the floor (not a good idea) are you sure you have cock & hen? The main thing is season. Depending on where you live they will be most active to pair in spring so for me now it is coming fall. For Australia coming spring.
hi tossdart i have a pair of racing pigeons and i haved them for a while, they lay eggs but never hatch them why ? answer plz thanks tossdart ur have great knowledge on this
If you have two hens you will get 4 eggs as a rule. If you have 4 eggs well ahemm since a Racing Homing Pigeon can only lay two you have two hens. Sometimes though one hen becomes such a cock in her mind she only forces the other to lay. If this is the case you need to get a cock from someone that knows what one looks & acts like. A hen can have a nose sere & wattles but the beak is as a rule thinner, the eye less angry, as well on bottom it looks a bit like you expect a hen to look, plump.
ya these are really great videos, im gonna try to own some pigeons of my own im only 13 so i dont think i have the time or patients to race them but your videos are really great! but i have a question. i dont really now were to get these pigeons?? i want racers but i just dont know were to get them ? could u help me out.
but they took off and disappeared in the dark.. i waited the next day hoping that they would come back, but they didn't.. 3 days later i get a phone call from the guy that i bought the pigeons from telling me that both pigeons is back to him and that he won the bet ... racing pigeon is the hardest core pigeons on earth and i would die just 2 know how the navigate there way back home....Talking about from Amman Jordan to Syria :-/
my hobby is flying pigeons and I've been doing it for the past 15 years, I used to buy my high flying pigeons from Syria and fly them in jordan, one day i bought 2 black racing pigeons from an old man in Syria and he bet me 500 dinar( about 750$) that his pigeons will fly back 2 Syria and i laughed and told him NEVER... i kept the pigeons for 1 year (locked in the loft) and i breded them( they were 2 males) and after a year i was trying to fly them with my pigeons in the dark.....
Sir, I'm bhenj fr0m philippines. I have bought a coupLe of racing breeders and some young birds but I'm having a hard time to train my birds due to financial problems. It is quite hard for me to get my pigeons go home early during the race. That's why I'm just giving them daily exercise twice a day (6-7am and 4-5pm). Is that enough for the training of my racing pigeons? tnx..,
Sorry to tell you but the news is no. If you can get them out 10 then 25 miles a lot of times then only one 50 mile they can go out from there quite quickly. Of course after loft training squeekers 1 month first short toss them then out to 25 miles. What distance are you flying first off in your races? Next look at health. Be sure they recieve salt in grit! Plenty of fresh water. You might benefit from 1 tsp of bleach to 1 gallon of water. You must also watch for Malaria in your birds!
Are you in a club? If so can you toss together? Your situation is so much different than mine but I am also affected by cost possibly not so much as yourself. You are better to toss 5 miles then not at all. It seems your birds have come home! From how far may I ask? If your birds find home already they won't again get easily lost. Then it comes down to health. Tossing builds stamina. If you have no neighbour problems give them some open loft. Check for external parasites & deworm them.
Thanks for the information Sir. I wilL find time to train my pigeons for a long distance tosSing. Can i do it 1 month before the start of the race? Our races here last for 3 month tosSing for 7 Laps..,
The main thing is they must be in condition. If you are sure they are going to find their way home from the 1st toss distance you are sending to then rest them a bit until 2 weeks prior then toss them daily. Let them rest & loft fly at least 3 days, prior to the 1st race. It is good for everything to rest but tough birds need little rest. I understand you are on a very tight budget. Remember enjoy your birds that is the most important thing & don't bet money on them until they are Champs!
Bleach must never be given with any meds or any other thing! The advantages at times are many. One it purifies the water. The main advantage is it acidifies the gut & for some reason just has a very beneficial effect on pigeons! Of course it is a medicine & again use as needed. If say you note a bird sniffing it may easily have a cold. 1tsp of bleach in water for 7 days will help prevent its spread. Always think towards an acid stomach in your birds. Recolonize gut after with yogurt.
Everyone please note I am busy & video is a hobby that requires time. I'm sorry if I never covered all you need know yet. I want beginners to consider then aquire. Allow your squeekers to grow up! 35 days is ok to ship or train to loft! 40 days is better. Put them on top of loft or landing board then, or into aviary if they havent already been, hungry when they trap reward with food. Next give a 10ft toss. Allow them to sit out DON'T SCARE THEM OFF! Allow 1 month before boxing short toss
how long do you think i should let my baby pigeons fly for at least 1 to 2 miles, what i mean is the age of the pigeon, because i got 4 baby pigeons that was 1 month or last and i let it flew like 1 mile "only" and they haven't come back for at least 1 weak now.
Hi you need to let your birds fly around home for at minimum of several weeks. There are different thoughts on this some people fly them almost right away but they are risking their birds! There is no rush! I feel one month around the loft is about right. Then move them out quickly. If you have room around you take them in a box after 1 month several hundred meters. This accustoms them to box. Let them stay in it & look around. Then let them go. Do this twice then 1 or 2 miles.
this is so simple hence u look happy ,so happiness is u do the things u love, wow

It of course depends on where you live. In the U.S.A, contact the American Racing Pigeon Union. You may be able to find a mentor in your area.
