Coming to my school Detroit Country Day School,in Bloomfield Hills, MI would be a great idea. The internet that we are running on right now is so slow that it takes several minutes for a 10 minute youtube video to begin playing. Having faster speeds would help a lot of our teachers and students alike. Or if your looking for a more residential area, I live in a very closely packed Birmingham neighborhood where you could run it through our systems. Pleases if you are interested PM me!!
We would use it to get this country moving again. How cam we compete with the world running on what we have at home now? I say the faster the better but don't rape us with the prices. Fios has a 150Mbps up 50Mbps down for $200 a month. Are you serious Verizon? Stop the rape of our wallets and purses! Be better than the cable monopolies!
@GoFastStudios Because it would allow us to innovate in new ways. When people are given tools like this, you will see amazing things. :) That's one reason I don't like living in Canada, our ISPs are raping our wallets. I do love my Country but I hate the fact that they allow these monopolies to screw the consumers over.
In all the university engineering depts the top students are by the Asian males, in rank and number, yet, in corporate America, almost all the engineers are white males with some non white females mixed in.
@dinnerandashow your comment makes no sense... You're the one who assumed that was the case. I simply reminded you that one youtube clip isn't a representation of an industry... let alone corporate america. I work for corporate america... if i were to make a comment as simplistic as yours, i would assume the opposite...
[i think a little civility is warranted...] i don't wish to assume anything negative about you...
Maybe first FIELD test of 10Gbps, but I'm sure this thing has been tested for over a decade. Sweden has had 40Gbps for a few persons since 2007, and there already is a 100Gbps standard.
American/British speeds are still about 20x slower and 20x more expensive than ours. Vive la Non-English-Speaking Countries!
@TheBetaFox True that internet speeds are way too slow in the US, but Vive la Non-English Speaking Countries! ?? Get back to me when the whole world flocks to the Romanian YouTube.
Why do they even have this shit on youtube? What's the point? They don't even offer Fios at all in Los Angeles -- or really anywhere there's a dense population-- so even the normal Fios is a tease to consumers.
What the fuck is this?
I'm going to chalk up all this experiment and touting of 'Fios' shit to bolster Verizon's own faggotry and plans of cock-blocking/blue-balling the whole internet collective. FAGGOTS.
@habitatgc They do offer it in the Los Angeles area (if not Los Angeles directly). I have FIOS and live around 40 miles from L.A. (I work in DownTown L.A.).
so essentially they upped bandwidth 200x with essentially minimal hardware (a combination of faster servers plus firmware for field hardware) lemme guess it will come out in 5 years at triple the cost of a normal internet connection.
Not bad. What is crazy is that is not enough bandwidth to stream the new experimental ULTRA HDTV (Aka Super Hi-Vision) standard. UHDTV is 7680x4320 pixels and requires 24Gb/s. The massive 24Gb/s Super Hi-Vision signal was recently transmitted from UK to Japan over the UK’s 40Gb/s education and research network.
Also, this field test means nothing considering Verizon will likely never release 10Gbit Internet to the public. Hell, they don't even have plans to bring FiOS to my city of nearly a million people. But you can rest assured that if you did have access to 10Gbit bandwidth, there'd be a 20GB cap to go along with it.
I want it now! I want it to support a smartphone, internet, HDTV service at a bundled low price. I am tired of waiting on this. You say you have the technology so sell it to me Verizon. Quit with the delays.
475 * 8 = 3.8 GB/ps of rate transfer in a 192.168.101.1 local network (poor). This can't be used to demonstrate the speed of the connection. Please use real hosts instead ;-)
i dont even wanna think of the possible used for this kinda speed...
HD feed to every TV in the house + OnLive gaming + upload of every video ive ever owned/watched/had on my HDD ever to the cloud + download every program ever thought of within 24 hours with bandwitch to spare all the while
@picdu She used the Terminal because she wanted to start the download with one key press (after entering the command previously) but she could have used Firefox for the instance, besides, I think that she wanted to look cool by using command based interface on Linux (on her point of view), in the end she is one of those really, really smart Indian tech persons.
I am From LeTourneau University in Longview, TX. I would like one of these connections for my school. currently my school only allows me to download 1GB per day. this would be a great test site for verizon. :)
The future of High definition video transmissions..;D Forget the old cable tv.. this is it baby..;) It will be at a price for sure..;) Sadly this is years away from the "normal" us..;p Cheers till then..:D
Grrr! It really irritates me at 1:58 when she says NIC card (the C in NIC stands for card, yes?) It's so souped-up, she has a network interface card card. Yay! That's right up there with ATM machine...

WHO THE FUCK NEEDS 10 Gbps for a home connection!
10 Gbps is enough bandwidth for a small DC backbone!
Version needs to bring FIoS to more areas NOT increase the speeds to stuff that people wont need to use until 2020
Also how affordable is 10 Gbps going to be? LMAO
10Gbps x 1,000,000 Customers = 10,000,000 Gbps
Umm yeah ok that's going to be REALLY affordable.
Even the top data centers don't' have that kind of BW Most I've seen for a DC is around 300 Gbps for the backbone.
