Just managed to get hold of the album and I have to say that this is a lost Van McCoy gem...how RCA failed to get the group and the tracks on this album away is a mystery. There's a glorious ballad called This Time It's For Real which is a must for collectors of sweet soul
Son,you need to look at my site, even one of the member of this group, his son is on my subscription list my site is dedicated to rare and hard to find sweet soul music--This Time Its For Real is one of my favorite song from them--take care
i am a native washingtonian and as a kid in high school one of my favorite songs was "youre so right for me". does anyone have this, ( i have it on 45 back in landover,) but im in los angeles now, and no one seems to have it...i'd appreciate anyone that could upload it, one of my fav ballads of all times, i loved van mcCoys Production...
thanks to the internet, the truth comes out on one of the greatest, unfortunately obscure super soul ballads of the 1970's, 'this time, its for real...'
first heard this on soul comp cd, want to give my respects to the choice 4 and family, lets bring back this kinda music!
I would like to say Thanks also. My dad Pete Marshall (far right)was also a lead singer. It's very nice to see the support for such amazingly produced music. My dad is currently singing with the Former Singers of the Temptations. I remember Charles since I was a kid. He was full of laughter and joy, God Bless him and may he rest in Peace. The story of the "Choice Four" and Van McCoy should be made into a Movie!!
the tenor or falsetto is Bobby - 2nd from the left on this photo.now this group...from the left they are Charles, Bobby, Ted & Petey...we went 2 all their shows...thx 4 posting
hey man i'm a real big fan of your father work tell me more--i got all their albums they only had 4 chart successes what happen after that--i do know they was working with van mc coy
Thanks for being a fan. The group stayed together until the late 70's until Van McCoy died. The will always be known for there great harmony and style. My father was murdered in 1990 but Pete, Bobby and Ted all stay in touch. Recently there was a CD released called "The Choice Four Greatest Hits" Pleaes run out and get the CD to add to your collection! Thanks for the support! God Bless.....
I live in DC and can't find anything on the Choice Four which are still one of my favorite groups from the past. Do you know of any places still carrying their music?

Wow, first time I heard this. The groups' recordings are so difficult to get these days.
LOve this one, really funky for them and Van!
The bass is great, presumably Van's usual player, Gordon Edwards?
