  • Well, I stand corrected.

  • "That guy has about 7 broken bones in his hand, if someone wants to give him an aspirin or something"

  • I wish someone would post the scene with the Secret Service securing the VP.

  • holy shit his hand!

  • If you notice, all the doctors do is pretend to be working but really just play hot potato

  • so well written.....

  • Lol at

" do you have any medical conditions"

    " well, I've been shot"

  • What about the scene following this? Is it posted anywhere?

  • Its funny how he's been shot in the abdomen and there doesn't seem to be a drop of blood on his shirt. WTF?

  • I guess Mandy was shot and killed because she was never seen again

  • @boyinthedrain Never seen or even talked about. They never even mentioned her name again. It's like she was never there. BUT, I guess that's a good thing because she was there as a foil for Josh, when they dumped her, they moved Janel in to the Josh/foil position.

  • @MegaObserver1 Yeah, and Reagan was joking around in the hospital, as was Bartlett. They were both shot with handguns, their wives were brought to the hospital from the White House...you're right, very similar.

  • Talk about love for a friend, Leo nearly took that door off it's hinges.....

  • This whole scenario was obviously inspired by the Reagan assassination attempt in 1981. The Prez is shot, but survives. A top aide is severely wounded. A Secret Service agent is hit, but not critically. It wasn't discovered that the Prez was hit until he as in the limo. So many similarities.

  • act as if ye have faith, and faith shall be given to you.

  • I love the first 15 seconds of this clip. It really gets me.

  • "If i dont speak to my daughter in the next five minutes i'm going to attack something,"

  • "This guy's got about seven broken bones in his hand, by the way, if somebody wants to give him an Asprin or something."

  • Aw you missed the best bit - when he kisses Leo on the cheek it really gets me!

  • I wish you had shown another minute of the scene -- when Jed grabs Leo and kisses him on the cheek before going into surgery. Amazing moment -- the expression on Leo's face was gold.

  • @grumpytosnowwhite I totally agree

  • wheter you llike it or not the president is more important then others in an hospital an you probly got more for killing the president that for killing bob

  • Uh! where is the scene where the actual shooting takes place? I can't find it anywhere!

  • @MilwaukeeFtw

Any luck finding the footage of the actual shooting, or particularly the limo ride afterwards?

  • The episode, "What a day it has been" was just shown on Bravo.

  • It's in the previous episode "What a day it's been".

  • It wan't blood on the President's mouth. The President started to go into shock in the limo while talking to the agent. Somone mentioned the comment when the President was asked about any medical conditions. I thought he said "well I've been shot."

  • That is what he said but that was blood on his mouth, that was the first thing that the Secret Service Agent saw before checking him for gun shot wounds.

  • The agent and the President were talking and the agent saw blood on the President's mouth. The agent examined his back and saw the main wound. It was frightening, even though it was a TV show.

  • One thing I must have missed in this episode. The president and the agent are driving away from the scene in the limo. Suddenly, the agent orders the limo to go to the hospital. How did the agent know the president had been shot and needed to go to the hospital?

  • Why was the president shot?

  • He was shot in the spray of gunfire. The real target was Charlie.

  • Why would someone want to kill charlie, he is the body man.

  • Members of a neo-Nazi group objected to Charlie dating Zoe, the President's daughter, so they attempted to kill him. All this is revealed in the Season 2 opener, "In The Shadow of Two Gunmen".

  • @mswebmistress Silly pretext for melondrama, but for aficianadoes of the genre, fun.

  • @sukneh is the genre condusive to dramatic fruit plotlines?

  • @mswebmistress I know Neo-Nazi are racist as hell, but this is a little extreme even for them, taking a shot at the Charlie while he's near the President. In real life, they would have just caught him outside his home.

  • @TheRock2004 Eh, fanatics aren't known for subtlety. Or intelligence for that matter.

  • Best 10 mins of TV ever!

  • "Mom's on her way."

    "Mom's gonna be pretty pissed."

I dunno why, but that sounds like such a Bartlet-esque remark, considering the situation.

  • @grumpytosnowwhite It's meant to echo Ronald Reagan who, when he was shot, told his wife, "Sorry honey, I forgot to duck."

  • just need about 5 seconds more at the begining to see the vp get 'secured'

  • Do you have any medical conditions?

    -well... I''ve been shot!

  • "well... I'm in shock"

i thought it was that for a long time. but i dont think it really matters, both are funny. But officially i think your quote is correct but the audio you really cant tell.

  • No i'm pretty sure its "Well I've been shot."

  • I have the all the series on dvd, it's definitely "well i've been shot"

  • @kripposoft LOL

  • @kripposoft Actually, he says "Well, I'm in shock."

  • @brennalaus Actually, he does say I've been shot". That's what the script and the captions for that scene say

  • Season 2 Ep 1

  • what season is this?

  • Yeah cos when JFK got shot America invaded Cuba and the Soviet Union retaliated and Britain and France launched nuclear missiles and so did China. In fact we're all dead right now.

  • Question - was Josh injured in this shooting? I thought he was, but apparently not... Was there another one?

  • He was hit in this shooting but he was brought into the hospital later than the President. Because he was a bit behind the rest at the time of the shooting he was overlooked at first which is why Leo doesn't know.

  • Yeah, I was just wondering the same thing. Been so long since I saw this episode.

  • bpeter, are you joking?? Mrs. Landingham was like a mother in Jed Bartlet's life. The relationship was incredible between the two. When she heard the president had been shot, Mrs. Landingham ran like a mother checking on her son!! Watch the show why dont ya!!

  • Why not, she's known Bartlett since he was in college.

  • What season is this on?

  • This is the beginning of season two.

  • excuse me do you have the whole episode of this? this was one of my favorites. who were they really shooting at?

  • This clip is from "In the Shadow of Two Gunmen", which was aired in two parts at the beginning of season two of TWW. I do not believe the entire episode is available online, but it is available on DVD.

  • Now if Hulu would start offering episodes (whole seasons!) of the West Wing I'd be in heaven. Prob just have to shop Amazon for the boxed set tho

  • charlie, the Presidents bodyman(Valet/Personal assistant)

  • Love this episode!!!

  • i love it when they "secure" the vice- president.

  • such a great show and episode
