Dan Bern is THE MAN. I saw him back in the mid 90s at my small college. I met my wife at one of his shows a few years back. This guy is just fun & anyone who criticizes or paints him "in a box" just doesn't f%$#ing get it...he's goofing on you people.

Now he's completely lying by mischaracterizing the tea party as racist. They are not against health care - just Obama's plan for your health. @theralphshow He has not been political since the beginning. Look at his first major album (that begins with Jerusalem) There isn't one political song, and to date that's his best album. Even his second album wasn't very political (50 eggs). That's the one Ani DiFranco totally messed up when she ruined his style with her grubby hands.

@Dittopost I am an Atheist myself, but does that mean I should dislike Johnny Cash? No. He's a great musician, he could sing the telephone book and it would appeal to me.
@Dittopost Oh boy... Dan Bern is a great artist, I love him, but he was never that famous, I don't think any of his videos on Youtube have more than 100,000 views. Most of his videos have the same amount of views as this. So his political views must have nothing to do with it. Dan Bern has always incorporated his political views into his music occasionally, most artists do. Besides, if you don't like Liberal music then you are pretty much shit out of luck if you like folk music.

I just don't like how it's become universally accepted that the Tea Party is racist. It is not racist! They do not support racist views or policies. Just because the crowds are mostly white doesn't inherently make them racist. Just because Dan Bern's audience is mostly white, does that make him racist?
