Riget is awesome, and rightfully called one of the "films" everyone should see atleast once in their lifetime. However, that said...Kingdom Hospital is by no means terrible:

It's entertaining, it's got it's own quirks, as well as a respectable cast. I'm sure it's also how a lot of people, myself included, found out about Riget. Considering that, as great as Riget is, it's not easy finding a good English dub, having watched Kingdom Hospital first, made it easier for me to follow the story.

The original movie was made by Lars von Trier, it wasnt based on any book. Stephen King wrote "The Journals of Elenore Druse" because he saw that movie. I do not understand why he made the american version...

Stephen King is a good writer but he didn't invent this series. There is a european original called riget and although i like the stile of american series i have to say that "Riget" is much better than this. It is harder, more scaring - there is just much more horror in it. Watch it, if you can get it, "Riget" is just one of the best series i ever watched.
