  • I don't understand all the haters...I have been been playing drums 25yrs and I have played hundreds of gigs and made thousands of dollars over the years playing music and I think Dave is great.I appreciate his teaching videos and WISH I could play traditional like him and I enjoy listening to all his solo's!!! Keep on going MASTEROFMOELLER !!!!!!! YOU ROCK!!!!

  • I have*

  • im 17 and i realllllyyyy appreciate this kind of technique.. i want to learn to play traditional like this but im playd match grip for so long its hard.

  • @ButtasRandomized I was the same way man. I'm 19 now so I think I must have been around 17 when I first came across these videos teaching the moeller technique. I had been taking drumming lessons for maybe about 2 years at this point and had always played matched grip, so this was an entirely new concept. I watched these videos, bought Jojo Mayer's 'Secret Weapons for the Modern Drummer' (which is the best instructional video I've seen) and practiced every day.

  • @Amesism My playing has improved so much since then and I can do things now I couldn't even dream of before I started. I play mainly traditional grip now, but am trying to work on my matched grip more as it has ironically fallen behind. I guess what I'm trying to say is just do it. If you are dedicated and practice, you will only improve over time.

  • @Amesism hey thanks for recommending the dvd i checked it out and I'm going to get it! thanks so much! :D

  • Excellent technique David, impressive licks/left hand. Sorry that there are haters on here man...small minds. Keep up the good work.

    Peace....

  • Holy crap! That was awesome. Way to go Buddy Jr.!

  • Holy Eff!

  • Excellent!

  • pretty fucking awsome, bonzo would never use a double bass pedal but your good so i dont mind

  • Think it's only a question of time since you're famous..... Stunning performance, I wish you all the best on your further way! Great educational videos, by the way.

Would be great if you could post/spilt up some of your fills in this vid or generally ideas for fills.

  • Mate, i wish i had your skills and one day i reckon i'll get there! Keep at it and keep teaching me by posting your vids!!

  • I don't understand the wider community out there!!! I've been drumming for 2and3/4years, i'm ok, sometimes better than ok, and sometimes crap, i get frustrated, impatient, angry and so on, but i've not once even thought of bad mouthing another drummer or fellow muso. All you clowns out there claiming you know something about everything need to stop using this site! I'm here to learn and enjoy and i expect most others are also? Music is life and happiness, not an opportunity to speak shit!

  • @studentofdrums Well said friend. Far too much negativity. And masterofmoeller, you keep pounding out those awesome solos! Rock steady!

  • @studentofdrums True and signed!

  • He's making the solo his own. Great job dude. I'd love to have those chops.

  • nice

  • Fine playing my friend. There is nothing wrong with feeling good about your playing and you do it well. If you did nothing but copy Bonham then it ain't you. You have good control and I liked your rolls, you got a good left hand. Thanks

  • double kick pedal in a moby dick solo?!?! booooooooooooooooo!

  • Glad to have you back Moeller Master!

  • Maybe it was the poor sound quality man but, I really didn't like it. I absolutely adore Zeppelin and have watched/ listened to Moby Dick a fortune of times, covers of it as well, but I have to say this was barely the same song. The guitar wasn't right, the drums were very well played but pretty much all wrong, and there wasn't much feeling in the drum solo. There's a lot more to it than triplets. Also, considering that you say you 'rock it', and your arrogant YouTube name, *unsubscribed*.

  • @gogogadgetspoon this was the band putting there flavor to the song. adding there own spark and creativity. whats wrong with that?

  • @drummer9042 I agree completely. There is no reason WHATSOEVER to flip out over this video or any video for that matter. If you don't like it don't watch

  • @gogogadgetspoon yeah if you wanna hear it exactly like led zeppelin plays it then just listen to led zeppelin, if I copy everything bonham does i'm nothin but a copier

  • @masterofmoeller Imitator is likely a more fitting word. I'm not demanding that every cover of Moby Dick be stroke for stroke, but the FEEL has to be there. That's one of the most amazing things about Bonham - you can hear his influence in drummers. I'm not arsed tryin to defend my point any more so aye, glack.

  • @masterofmoeller Well the name ''Moby Dick drum solo'' on a video implies that you'll be true to the song. Otherwise it's a Moby Dick-esque/ inspired solo.

  • @gogogadgetspoon You dont even have a drum video.....Have you ever tried doing what MASTEROFMOELLER is trying to teach???SHUT UP!!!!!

  • @sssssspanky123 Very mature for a 41-year-old, I must say. I had shut up after speaking my mind, but now I must retort. Yes, I have tried and do practice a lot of what he teaches. I don't see what me having or not having a drum video has anything to do with anything, but alrighty. I'm not sayin I'm better than him, he IS an excellent drummer, undoubtedly. All I said was that he wasn't true to the song and that he seems a bit too cocky. I'm expressing my freedom of opinion, man.

  • At 1:43 he's the master of Morello!

  • Amazing dood!! It's about time you posted something...

  • sweet!
