  • Awesome!!!

  • The reason this is here right now is Jeff Bridges.

  • You defeated Master Control and proved the justice of our culture!

    Try the game on hard.

  • You, sir (or miss), are a very talented individual.

Keep up the good work :).

  • Reminds me of Megaman.

  • @xXloveyouXx2 Megaman mets Daft punk :D

  • 777-7 nice number.

  • @mayca555 777-7, 2 better in every category than 5555

  • Even nicer!! But where´s the midi ?:)

  • @YoureAtTheWongPlace didn't make one for this

  • This was the ending titles to the first Tron lol

  • @dohead OH YEAH i getcha.

  • infact i think the sprites are those for the left/right side views for mega man 7 snes...

  • It looks like a Daft Punk album cover.

  • Quick question: How do you know what sprites are 8, 16, 32 etc. bit? I could never tell...

  • @battleship92 it's based on resolution and the number of colours/shades used but the number of bits is just relative to the generation of console in question.

  • @midimachine The Nintendo was capable, so rather than small sprites, wouldn't these graphics have easily been possible if they were just larger images rather than a standard sprite?

  • @SilentZed i just read that the NES can load up to 32 colours at a time.so probably yeah! but i guess then it wouldn't really be a conventional sprite anymore, heh

  • @midimachine It was just one of those things that if the naysayers are going to bust out technicalities you can just bust right back =D Secondly, seriously good job. Nothing hits the nostalgia harder than taking some of my favorite songs from the present and making them sound like this. Makes me appreciate the awesome music I heard when playing NES when I was a kid even more, considering how talented the people who made that music were.

  • @battleship92 Well, you multipy x2:

    8+8=16+16=32+32=64 etc.

  • @tronlgrid69 How does it work exactly? How do you determine what 'bit' it is?

  • @battleship92 Why don't you go to Wikipedia? Youtube is not Wikipedia. Come back later.

  • awesome game bgm

  • 10 seconds of listening was all it took to like this.

  • reminds me of scott pilgrim vs the world the game

  • klass man, If fuckin tron was released on sega master system or NES, This is what it was sound like, fuckin amazing (y)

  • M00:00AR!!!!

  • californication

  • metroids probably listenin to this now good song :D

  • I suddenly have an urge to play Megaman 2...

  • excellent job !

  • 8 bit + draft punk = awesome!!!!!!!!

  • Kevin Flynn = Dr. Light.

  • is that megaman 7 megaman sprite edited?

  • this needs to be the ending credit song for the next mega man hahahahahhah AWESOME

  • @XeroFailGames i know right lol

  • CONGRATULATIONS, YOU HAVE DEFEATED CLU AND HAVE GOTTEN THROUGH THE PORTAL. THOUGH KEVIN FLYNN IS NOW DEAD, YOU ARE STILL ALIVE AND HIS DEATH SHALL NOT BE IN VEIN!!! Copyright (nintendo) 1985

  • @matttrevproductions Flynn Lives!

  • @matttrevproductions This comment is the best comment

  • @matttrevproductions OK, That was my laugh of the day! How VERY true to the style of classing Engrish Nintendo...

  • Oh, hey, I beat the Arcade version of TRON!

  • 8-bit and techno forever!

  • LOL sprites 16 style megaman 7

  • It's The ORIGINAL Song, midimechine.

  • @colmyo not sure what you mean?

  • that picture in the video makes me feel like doing an 8-bit daft punk's game similar to megaman

  • very cool, man. love the retro feel of it. I transcribed the main analog riff onto the guitar - certainly an inspiring piece

  • @Vaguereality did you transcribe it off of this? a while ago someone rightly pointed out that there's a B which should be a Bb in the pattern that first plays at 0:18. or something, i don't remember!

  • @midimachine i transcribed it off the soundtrack recording. i hear the incorrect note that you're referring too, but you reworked the entire piece. In the grand scheme of things, such a small error in one piece of one track isn't a big deal. I thought this version was great. I think almost every tone that I selected for my guitar transcription is correct - but I also added a few notes to make the riff flow without any accompaniment.

  • 6 People has no taste in Art or music.

  • This is fantastic!!!

Was it a commodore 64? or that Oscar synth with the Commodore sound chip.

    Big props anyway!

    Excellent work.

    :-)

  • @edshift it's just modern softsynths arranged famicon 2A03 style but not using authentic software cause i'm a pussy :)

  • @midimachine I dont grasp the lingo... not even slightly. However, Im glad that people like you exist in the world. Love the music, keep it up.

  • You're seriously, just fucking awesome.

  • I don't care if it's 24, 16, or 8-bit....this is still AMAZING!!

  • @googledude23 WHO GIVES A DAMN WHAT BIT IT IS STILL IS EPIC

  • Please insert coins.

  • Id Rather play this on a 32 bit synthesizer...

  • Damn, Noice! :D

    5/5

    ~sets as rigntone

  • How can I make this my ring tone?

  • I don't care what BIT! It's pretty damn cool I think...

  • if you were a daft punk fan before tron thumbs up cuz all these little kid watch the disney movie think they are fans

  • this is incredibly sexy and you are an incredibly sexy person. thank you sir.

  • sounds like a video game lol

  • @GORIZARD5 Good observation.

  • @GORIZARD5 Not all made above 2000

  • THOSE ARE SOME SEXY MEGAMAN SPRITES

  • they used the original on the weather channel and I about shit my pants...and then I heard this...and I did...in public...without remorse...

  • Damn! Dude! this song is sooooooooo cool! thank you for rocking my ears!!!

  • @midimachine well if it goes by the standards, ok then....

  • @midimachine it's 16-bit because of it's range of tones. 8-bit would've had less tones........

  • @googledude23 there's 2 square waves and a triangle and a noise channel, as per the famicom standard.

  • @googledude23 well if u turn it to 240p it kinda sounds 8 bit

  • @JJTYL3S i guess you're right-ish. but if it is 8-bit, he made it so i can't say otherwise. but it does sound a little more 8-bit

  • @midimachine no....I was talking about the song. If I was talking about the sprites, I would've said so.....so chill out

  • @midmachine Pleeeeese if you can do an "End of Line" 8-bit mode! :D Thank you

  • This just made my day!! I guess i have a new ringtone! :D

  • thomas and guy manuel are basiclly just megamen with diferent pixils

  • ...............awsum.............

  • Nice work!

  • Well done. I like how it still has the power through the 8-bit transformation process.

    Yeah.... just well done.

  • PERFECT! Thank you!!!!

  • amazing i find this 8bit version of the legacy song better than the original and i have the ost

  • ...Those sprites are 16-bit.

  • @Jorbs3210 thanks for that, genius.

  • @Jorbs3210 Please shut up.

  • @Jorbs3210 how can i know that?

  • @Jorjeca cause they use more colours than an 8-bit console would allow. in-fact, they're recoloured megaman x-2 sprites, which was a game on the SNES.

not that it makes the MUSIC any less 8-bit, mind you! :)

  • Bob & George FTW!!

  • @Jorbs3210 change it to 240p happy now?

  • @rodinator3000 now it looks like 32bit ass

  • this is so groovy!

  • TR0:00N !

  • i miss the old games...

  • Sounds like the kinda music Capcom would use to end a Megaman game.

  • Oh my god. This is AWESOME!

  • I would play the hell out of this game.

  • Truely amazing! Your 8 bits rule d00d!!!

  • Im curious, what makes music 8-bit? not a program, but like, more of a description that theres a reason its called 8-bit. because this sounds like the original song but different at the same time, like is it called 8-bit because it takes out the multiple sound waves, and just keeps 8 of them and makes it super basic but not to basic that its recognizable. I would appreciate some more insight on this, so for anyone that knows, please replay, and thanks :D

  • @lazard06 I think "8-bit" should just mean anything that sounds like it was made on an 8-bit sound device. not necessarily the NES/Famicon but others such as the C64's SID chip.

as you pointed out, one of the defining characteristics of "pure" 8-bit music is the limited polyphony. the standard NES sound engine uses 4 sound channels (2 square waves, 1 triangle and a noise generator) and a fifth channel for lo-fi sampling which I didn't use in this track.

  • @lazard06 In digital audio, bit depth describes the number of bits of information recorded for each sample. It's basically like resolution. Think of your typical MP3 is 128 BPS (bits per second) the more you lower the BPS the more 'crunchy' it sounds because you're losing information. As processers increased in power the bits increased and so did the sound.

Cept us old timers who grew up on 8-bit consoles get all nostalgic when we hear these awesome old school 8-bit songs ;)

  • @smokeshows69 ah yes, bit depth is important. but with 8-bit music I would say it refers more to the cpu of the sound chip than the bit depth of PCM since that only comes into play after the song is finished.

i mean, the nintendo sound format allows for 16 levels of dynamics. but 8 bit PCM allows for 256 ;)

  • @lazard06 You'd be shocked whats considered 8-bit and why it's popular. You're right though.

Which can you remember more, a catchy tune, or a full length song?

People like John Williams understood a clear tune would emphasize a song ten fold. People who only saw harry potter once could easily recognize the theme. Much as with all his other hits ;]

8 bit was convenient the time. They didn't realize how well it would stick later on.

  • the 7 folks who didn't like this should be derezzed. tumb up if i'm right

  • @rasheobob if i had "tumbs" i would put them down just to spite you.

  • @midimachine no no i was saying that the people who didn't like your song should be derezzed. it was a JK. personally i luv this song..you did an excellent job.

  • @rasheobob i know what you were saying, it was just really trite and silly.

why ask for thumbs up? if you make a comment that's actually funny or profound people will +1 it whether or not you ask them to.

  • @midimachine isn't that how ppl do it on youtube? i just thought i'd give it a shot for once..just for kicks.

  • @midimachine AMEN

  • @rasheobob dont we all love asking for thumbs up when it doesnt happen :)

  • @fullyAsianeric at least i tried...guys dont bite my head off becuz of it. XD

  • holy balls. i fucking love this. so much.

  • This would be perfect with a sidescrolling 8-bit TRON game. If anyone made one, that is.

  • @SapphireCrusader1988 there was actually a veeryy old game of tron and then they did a movie out of it, the game was on a atari if it says something to you, it was the playstation3 for the past ;) but yeah would be nice when somebody remade it =) totally agree

  • so beautiful.... :')

  • Thumbs up if u had a boner

  • @Lolilol92000 thumbs up 24/7

  • You sir earned my subscription, and THAT is a rare treat :D

  • woooooooooooooooooooow a legend track

  • Meh, the derezzed one was much better.

You can't rightfully recreate the 303 in chiptune...

    I wish i had a 303...

  • @beefinator14 it's true, you really can't rightfully recreate a 303 with anything other than a specific 303 clone like phoscyon or x0xbox (just to name a couple)

i do own a real deal 303 and they are crazy fun.

  • This track elicited the same catch-in-my-throat feeling the original did; nice job.

  • very good, would be good to make a version with the 8580 of the c64.

    Greetings

  • I'll be honest, I normally hate these 8 bit remixes,.but this caught me by surprise and I quite like it.

  • 5 people deserve to be derezzed.

  • 5 programs got derezzed during the making of this song.

  • midi pleeeeease? :)

  • Awesome :)

  • i want this as my ringtone

  • Fuc*in' EPIK!!!!!!!

  • Wow, 5 programs are still under the dominion of the MCP

  • Can this actually run on a NES/Famicom ? I don't think so...

  • @macdeath69 well theoretically it can since there is only 4 note polyphony at any time, and only 2 squares, 1 tri and a noise wave. the articulation might be somewhat unauthentic but i'm just too lazy to sequence in famitracker, lol :)

  • @midimachine If you're willing to send me the channels in their own separate wav or mp3 file I could sequence this into Famitracker for you if you really wanted it to be authentic.

  • @midimachine Are you sure he even has any idea what you are talknig about?I know i certainly dont but its still an awesome song though

  • @macdeath69 calm down and enjoy it for what it is... sheeshh.

  • I'm gonna use this in my minecraft vid, i might forget to give credit not sure but ill try my best to remember

  • you sir, have just made my day

  • now this is an indescribably awesome sound, I actually prefer this to the real thing, all I have in my head is the menu screen of a sidescrolling video game where you play as one of the two boys from daft punk.

  • Nice i like it :)

  • LIKE x10000000000000000000000000000 OMFG I <3 THIS! Watch 1 of my sick CoD vids watch?v=mOMLGDVH_UE P.S. I hope they put this in a Guitar Hero DLC pack, I'd love to play this.
