@drughello it's actually not that bad an idea. Pykrete lasts about 6 times as long as ice, and it's better than steel in effectiveness; yet it's made from nothing but wood and water. If you keep it at low temperature, it'd make an excellent, absolutely-dirt-cheap composite armor
@redreaper2020 so build it. you will find out how it's crazy, because of the size and maintenance i mean. but still a good idea to build an ice house.
Why are they picking the absolute WORST places to do some of these interviews? Outside on a windy day at a shipyard? Near water so you can hear the bugs buzzing away louder than the woman who's talking? I'm nitpicking but seriously, the quality of those soundclips are atrocious.
what the fuck? the same exact history channel program on wierd nazi weapons has like on average 300 views with no comments or likes but this is crazy popular wierd.....
These pro-american films are sometimes really annoying! Always there ideas where 'absolutely brilliant' and other nations did so many mistakes in everything!
For example the USA didn't use those flail-tanks, mainly the britains used them. And the Duplex-Drive tanks weren't just Shermans, also british tanks like the Valentine were fitted with that device.
@TheDukeof91 Why are getting mad about this? There are other absolutely brilliant pro-American films you have to worry about, like, Captain America, Ironman, X-Men, Rambo, Top Gun, etc. LOL.
How is it pro? If it was Pro anything they would metion the words "valiant and evil", just because the primary focus is American doesn't mean it's pro anything. Also, the M4s had a LOT more conversions over to the D'Day modules than any of the other allies tanks. Even so, i don't see where they mentioned that only the US had come up with the idea, in fact they constantly metion "allied planners" throughout the entire segment.
@TheDukeof91 They probably used the M4 as a model because it's a US tv show, shot around a US war museum where US made tanks are much easier to come by. You sound to me at least pretty insecure and presuming about things that you assume is ment when they are not.
@TheDukeof91 well watch BBC Top Gear for example in an Americans point of view.... then well for the south (Confederate States of America) we hate the history books because its a politically correct piece of crap that puts down our southern heritage! like we're these horrible people!
not to mention the germans spent more money on their expeditions to asia on ancient mysticism than the americans spent on project manhattan and atomic research in general
the german engineering made ALOT of blunders. The Bismarck for example....a ship that was sunk on its maiden voyage, had enough steel for a panzer division. Same shit with their railway guns. They wasted resources like no one else. Flak towers? you want to do the math on the amount of concrete needed?
The Enigma? a machine that had its code broken before WW2 even began but the morons kept using it till 1945
@Sturmmann ill informed yank i bet , Bismark hard the brits scared for two weeks oh and sank the british flag ship with only a few rounds. Those railway guns could hit London from France, and those flak towers bet those bomber crews wouldn't argue against them. The Enigma was not broken until like 1942 and even then we got lucky , we captured the machine and codes off of a damaged German U boat . learn your shit before you spout off again!!!!!!
@konigstiger86@Sturmmann I would just like to add to konigstiger86's comment(with which I agree) that Bismarck's sister ship, the ''Tirpitz'', kept large numbers of allied warships tight up in the north sea to defend the northern convoy routs. She did that by just sitting in port for years. Seems like a win on German side to me... One battleship rendering multitudes of enemy warships effectively useless.
@konigstiger86 actually in technicality, it was partially broken in 1938 by the poles, finished being broken by 1941; they changed and added new wheels, which were broken with said sub's codes, and again they added new wheels which we broke again.
Those flak towers weren't really very good against aircraft. long-range AAA is very poor against aircraft; for every 100 guns you get about 1 plane downed. More just a saturation effect. Far better versus ground targets.
At 6:00, I knew knew they were gonna say Canada the second they described what Churchill needed.

capturing the enigma didnt change the fact that the mighty royal navy couldnt even defend the supply ships that were keeping its country alive.
The HMS prince of wales was destroyed by the japs in around 10 minutes without jap casualties.
its pretty odd that a cannuck would use the term yank in hopes of kissing up to his limey friends in england...its actually laughable
