Ya big cars take a bit for hauling well the newer ones are a little slow. I have 1981 Crown Victoria LTD Coupe and it has a 5.0L big carb Holly 650 double pumper. I know it will go faster then newer crowns for sure. Ya my 302 V8 is mod it for sure. It has around 350 HP. I had it up to 180 MPH. Nice video on here by the way.

It is the gearing 3.08 gears but the Transmission is FMX and it's gear low. So it's kinda like 3.50 gears. It's not about the Horse power it's the torque as well. I even race older mustangs with a 5.0 L. But the Mustang beat me for the short run. I beat him for the top speed later on. I should of film that. It happen 2004. Lower gears will help top in too. Only thing the engine will be raving high like 6 or 7 rpm to reach that speed. Trust me but i not certain.

I don't know if it's the same in the US but in the UK police cars are tweaked from factory for services use, so if you had a stock version of the same car, it'd still beat you.

The '04 I had shut off (governed) at 119. Our Dept. that year opted for the 3.55 gear ratio. The 3.27 had better top end. All in all I'm glad the CVPI is gone.....now make room for the Hemi Charger.
That's not a real police interceptor or you've modified it somehow. It was clearly artificially limited to 130 (standard crown vics). I've got my P71 up to 136 before no problem. Could have even gone faster.

@CHEVYRYDA215 In my younger days I had a 1971 Ford Custom Police Interceptor with the 429-4V.The Ford Police 429-4V engine of that era was the same as the 429-4V Cobra Jet. The compression ratio on that engine was 11:5:1! And believe me it would hit 150 m.p.h. in stock form! The speedometer only went up to 140 but after a couple crazy attempts on the thruway I hit 140 and it was still picking up speed! But I agree,nobody could do 150 m.p.h. in a newer stock Ford Police Interceptor.

@555tezza What more do you expect? Its a 4500lb sedan with a 240hp engine that has origins dating back to the late 1980's pushing it. Frankly I think (for this car inparticular) 130 mph is rather impressive, and more than enough considering that most cars today have goveners on them that prevent them from going faster than a 100mph. In the even that the cops had to chase a faster car...Mustang, Camrao etc etc, they would just use one of their interceptor vehicles.

@thecarlover09 no its the same car other then torque converter , driveshaft , shift points and ring n pinion.....nothing other then that,,,,a panther is a panther "crown vic" "grand marquis" "towncar".....after 01 they all had pi heads and b4 that they ALL had npi heads....the civillian crown is the same engine as the p71 ..the p71 has small things that dont do much of anything.... go to "crownvic,net" ..the "COPCHIP" is a bullcarap also....

The '04 I had shut off (governed) at 119. Our Dept. that year opted for the 3.55 gear ratio. The 3.27 had better top end. All in all I'm glad the CVPI is gone.....now make room for the Hemi Charger.

That's not a real police interceptor or you've modified it somehow. It was clearly artificially limited to 130 (standard crown vics). I've got my P71 up to 136 before no problem. Could have even gone faster.

people claiming the hit 150 in their crown vic need to get real... it has a governor on it.. and if you can manage to get it off you wont go pass 140..... i have drove vics and caprices..... the vics are good cars but not as fast as 9c1 chevy or lt 1 equipped caprice

@CHEVYRYDA215 In my younger days I had a 1971 Ford Custom Police Interceptor with the 429-4V.The Ford Police 429-4V engine of that era was the same as the 429-4V Cobra Jet. The compression ratio on that engine was 11:5:1! And believe me it would hit 150 m.p.h. in stock form! The speedometer only went up to 140 but after a couple crazy attempts on the thruway I hit 140 and it was still picking up speed! But I agree,nobody could do 150 m.p.h. in a newer stock Ford Police Interceptor.

@CHEVYRYDA215 my car is not stock at all..i have 3 dyno tunes and two of them ar for 93oct with performance shift..if you look on my page you will see all my mods on my 4.6L 2 VALVE SOHC 281 CID..if you think my car can not hit 150mph you do not have a clue in what you are doing..at this point i have 260hp with 311 ftlbs of torque..thats 311 of torque and torque wins the race..with the torque i have with my car it NEVER stops pulling through the full rpm range ......

@CHEVYRYDA215 this car in this video is stock and it still had no problems pulling to 130mph and would have gone till he let off the gass if he had a good tune with the governor taken off....i can set my governor at 130mph 150mph 170mph and turn it off if i would like ..i always turn it off along with my rev limiter set at 6000rpms in drive and 4000rpms @ idle....i can ad more time on top of what i got from the tuner up to 2 deg and take away up to 8 deg..i can change my air/fuel 2

back in 71 my father owned a dodge station-wagon. it had a 400 in it. wile running across lake norman on i77. and i saw for myself 136 sitting in the back seat. and it was still gaining speed, when the front tires were leaving the ground. who knows what it would have topped out at. had it not wanted to fly. now that was a real grocery getter.

@555tezza What more do you expect? Its a 4500lb sedan with a 240hp engine that has origins dating back to the late 1980's pushing it. Frankly I think (for this car inparticular) 130 mph is rather impressive, and more than enough considering that most cars today have goveners on them that prevent them from going faster than a 100mph. In the even that the cops had to chase a faster car...Mustang, Camrao etc etc, they would just use one of their interceptor vehicles.

@JASMAZ77 The Crown Vics didn't come with the Tachometer back in 2004. But the Crown Vic, Mercury GM, Lincoln Town Car had an upgraded Dashboard in 2006 and came with Tachometer.
