  • So, cutlerlover, how do you like Entrek Knives? Is the 440C their using up to the job?

  • oh cutlery lover, can you cook for me?

  • you should be a t.v chef only instead of using normal house hold appliances you should use things like knifes, zippo's and an ak47 haha

    Love the content :)

p.s can you make that spoon that would be a video no one would miss !

    p.p.s beans !

  • Jeff, If You need a second opinion on this knife, feel free to send it to me on the west coast . would like to see it drawn from the sheath off a belt for sure. enjoy the work You do. P.S. send the sausage as well, I'll supply the crackers.

  • The beans part was funny :D Great testing and great knife!

  • when my friend went over to my house and we were cooking for dinner he said to me: dude where's your can opener

and i just went like: i don't. Use that knife that's over there (yes it was the badger)

and he went like: 0.o what?

  • Over 5,000 views in 11 days just by cutting sausage and cheese...

  • I remember reading somewhere they used to use dynamite to open canned foods... xD

  • You sir, are a fucking boss =]

  • You said you were from PA right.

  • just the way you said

" access to our beeaaaaannnssss " was so funny...

  • darn you jeff im so hungry now!

  • Jeff...I have to thank you for putting me onto the EnTrek Badger! What a great, GREAT knife! I absolutely love mine. In very short order, it has become one of my favorite small fixed blade knives of all time. Kudos to Ray Ennis for making such a great knife. Again, thanks a ton for the tip on this incredible knife. Your vids are super helpful.

  • Hm, I couldn't watch the entire video... made me hungry. =)

This is definitely a very nice knife, with impressive cutting performance. Certainly a handy tool and good to have.

  • chile with no beans? thats not for me lol

  • at like 4 mins i hear jingling do u have a dog?

    or a pet?

  • Hardcore cutting?

    =0

  • them soasages look good. goddamit! im hungry now

  • MMMMM! i man i like your food looks great!

  • lol, at 7:49 it says "we have access to our beans, but on the can it says (no beans)" lol

  • what is the outside of sausage made of?

  • intestine.

  • it is usually 2 thigns, a natural casing is intenstines, often tiems pigs or cow intenstine, but alot of sausage is a man made cellulose casing which is just made from vegitable matter...all natural casings make the sausage taste better though...

  • If you buy a knife brand new, do you have to clean it first before you want to cut food with it? (If you didn't use it on anything else already)

  • @sfshrimp You probably should.

  • @cutlerylover cool knife how much did it cost??

  • A fatty skin, only used to keep all of the meat together.

  • how much did that knife cost it looks like a great blade?

  • Nice vid, but 1 question: What do I have to put on my non stainless steel blades to resist rust? if I want to do food prep with it?

    Thanks

  • mineral oil is most prefered, but vegitable oil, peanut oil, or canola will all work...for cleaner you cna use flitz metal pilish thats also safe for food..

  • your a chef?!?!?!?!??!!

    thats freakin awesome

  • no, IM not a chef, I just like cooking as another hobby, but dont cook as much as I use to...

  • oh well

    but it's still cool

  • hey how do you like the sheath?

  • Hey cutlerylover, is this a hollow ground blade?

  • yes

  • thanks one more question..... is the fit and finish good? Does the sheath seem subpar? or is it good?

  • smooth jazz at the start

  • lol, nice penis sausage lmao

  • Wow very mature MrBICKUS9

  • Called having a laugh mate, chill out,

  • nice elevator music opening..

  • haha yeah

  • I open cans with my kabar Warthog a lot and It's actually faster than the electric can opener

  • How do you think this knife stands up to the RAT RC-4 because that is a knife that you have owned before be it for only a little bit.

  • I just had a conversatiuon with someone about this and Ill mention it in the review, but this is just like a RC3 on steroids but in stainless...

  • It's always funny to see American cheese, it looks so chemical and glow in the dark :P

I bet you could kill a squirl with it if you hit it in the right way

  • chedder is Englkish cheese, not american, but for some reason in america we do color it orange...I guess so its easy to recognize? lol...

  • not all cheddar is orange

  • thats why I said amertican..for the most part in america we color our cheddar orange, but as mentioned not all of them, we do sell white cheddar...

  • "we have axcess to our beans" it says no beans on the side haha

  • access

  • yah i noticed after but i was in a rush and didnt really care

  • or maybe u just didnt bring a can opener in the field

ppl open cans with their field knives all the time

  • Now I haft to eat!!! thanks Jeff lol

  • 2:47 ouch! rofl!!!

  • lmfao cut the cheese

  • "haha i cut the cheese ^^" i love that :P

  • impressive, you cut on the diagonal for display, and better palatabilty...and im not pickin on ya brother.......great video...any knife can hack a tree..but its the food that matters in the woods. 5*

  • man when i saw the can i was like "you don't really wanna do that"

and when you said: "now on to a little bit more hardcore cutting" i started crying.

since i had to do just that with my glock field knife(held out really good) I alwys have a swiss army knife with a can opener with me when camping ;-)

  • lol "food channel tv"

    serously who ate all this???

  • Man...im getting hungry now

  • I love sopressata. ALWAYS have a platter of sopressata out on family visits. Better then pepperoni. I like it on sandwitches too. You like stuffed green peppers? The pickled ones with the olive oil, block of cheese, and persutto. I can eat the whole jar of those. So expensive tho.

  • Yeah, you gotta clean them good first. I once cut some sausage with the Strider fixed tanto that is in my load out and got an unpleasant surprise. It had been lubed with some kind of silicone base AND been

  • ...used to pry open a metal vehicle door. Yum. H-V steel, grease, & silicone. What a nice addition to lunch. lol...

  • lol an expereince that left a bad taste in your mouth,. haha

  • I've never really understood using your pocket knives or 1/4" thick survival knives in the kitchen when most would have a long and thin kitchen knife in the drawer 2metres away. Very cool test video though.

  • i think he ment this for on a picknick or surviavel

  • its a representation of using a knife for food prep when camping, its just convientnant to actually do it in a kitchen..

  • Makes me hungry too!!!

Jeff I don't know if you normally use the wooden board to cut food, but it's not germs-wise recommended go for some plastic one...

    just my .02 cents

  • I've used a wooden cutting board every single day of my life to cut and eat multiple things, and Ive never gotten ill from it. Although I can understand why it probably is.

  • But the plastic cutting boards damage your blades as it doesnt compress like the wood, and besides a wood cutting board is perfectly capable of being cleaned.

  • im hungry...

  • This video made me hungry...

  • Is there any lubricant or oil that safe eat with on knives?

  • vegtable oil would would work

  • Mineral oil would work as well.

  • How about another fruit pie too!

This is bad as now I have to run to the kitchen for a slim jim

  • I dig the Intro music. Classy

  • wheres the buns & franks? great vid!

  • I hate to be "That guy", but opening a can isn't very impressive. I mean, I can do this with a some of my cheapo 5 dollar knives, so long as a blade has a sturdy tip, you can open a can. Now obviously some blades are way too thin, ut you don't need a stock anywhere near as thick as tat one to open a can with similar ease.

  • Good video Jeff, where is the best place to order that knife? I would like to buy one. Thanks.

  • 5/5m8

  • damn it! now im hungry

  • also, you can easily eat with your knife as long as you pay attention. It was the norm until forks and such became common. I do it all the time and Iv never cut myself from it.

  • Now I'm really hungry.

  • I'm hungry.

  • that's what she said

  • I sadly sat here and watched this whole video, and have no interest in that model knife. I would probably sit here and watch you cook that chili or sausages if you made a video on that. I always enjoy your videos. keep em coming!

  • cool vid. i thought i was in an elevator. how do you compare this with the rc 4?

  • wow! i didn't even think of using a knife to open a can like that! and im surprised there was no damage to the blade. im sure it wasn't as sharp after huh?

  • The tin used in can lids is pretty soft. Like Jeff said earlier, the only danger of blade damage comes from using a knife that has brittle tool steel like D2. It chips easily.

  • As long as the steel is harder than the material cutting, abrasion (as from slicing) will not cause any damage. D2 will not chip on a tin can.

Impact can cause steel to chip if it does not have the elasticity (toughness) to absorb the shock. This can happen even when impacting softer materials, like wood.

  • Backwoods cooking with Jeff.

    badger, badger, badger... mushroom!

    Sorry, i couldn't resist.

That sausage looks great, now I'm hungry.

  • NOW I AM HUNGERY

  • lol I like the music

  • how much is a knife like that?

  • 100 shipped

  • Love it when you mix it up with a food video. Food prep and great knives go well together. My kinda video!

  • "Today on Cooking With Jeff!" Ya know what would be a cool vid? If he took his camera on a camping trip in his woods. Just showing us what he brings and then record when he uses it

  • 5 Stars! Now isn't this up there with taking a dump? LOL! Sorry I had to go there. I bought the 9" Ranger from (I think) the same person and I am really digging my Entrek. Took it out in the back yard and thrashed it on some dead brush and limbs. I would put it up against my 9" Becker and I think my Ranger blows the doors off of the Trailmaster.

  • cool video, i like what youve been doing in your recent vids.

  • Great vid C.L !

I had to open a can the same way when my P-38 broke on me. Cutting anything -sausage or even carrots super thin is important when you have more than yourself to feed.

  • dreml chili eww

  • honestly i open cans that way with my cheapo kitchen knives with no damage all the time.

i doubt you'd ever do any damage to that particular blade through opening cans apart from maybe dulling the tip

  • the average kitchen knife steel is soft, alot of us knife guiys like harder steels like O1, and D2, in thbis case a metal cna coudl chip out the edge...thats why I say not to use them on cans...

  • Dude you really need a new camera. Im shure we all would rather have better quality reviews onwards then have a new knife review tmr. If you catch my drift.

  • I agree...if you send me like $800 Il get a nice one, everyone will thank you..

  • Very sneaky jeff you combined a cooking video with a knife performance vid. Did I say sneaky? I meant clever. -Joshua

  • now im hungry

  • JEFF!! YOU SHOULD DO A TOUR OF YOUR HOUSE! it would be really cool.. i mean you show bits and parts of your house and im sorta curious.. dont take it the wrong way.. lmfao

  • wuts with the porn music?

  • Handsome blade! Works nicley on the cutting board as well the outdoors!

  • are you a steelers fan jeff?

cuz if you are the saints will beat them! (if they ever play)

  • hell ya go saints. WOOP WOOP

  • i think the blade has the similar shape as the RC knives. .my Izula has opened cans.

    Good video!

  • OH btw, watching this made me hungry lol

  • How's the sheath?

  • i keep hearing dillon in the background

  • Great video Jeff. I know how you said you wouldn't normally do this to a knife, simply because it is blatant abuse, and I agree. However, I designated a KA-BAR specially the warthog just for this type of task when I'm camping. I've cut around 15-20 cans in the woods just like you did, and I have had no significant damage. It does dull the blade, but that is easily remedied. Love this little review because so often reviewers forget about the most common tasks when camping, food prep. 5/5

  • "or whatever kind of sport you watch" lol

  • impressive knife. all you need is some good mustard and nice autumn brew and your ready to go.!!

  • dude i'm hungry now that i saw this video .... great vid as always

  • Nice demonstration. Its making me hungry. I love how thinck that blade is.

Preparing to watch the pats tear it up? :P

  • yum party at your house

  • i thank you dog is hungry lol also i heard that it is better to cut in to you previous cut when you open a can with a knife it is suppose to cause less wear on the blade i don,t know if it is true but that's how i do it if i have to

  • That food is unhealthy. I like my heart. every man for himself.

  • that is loaded with saturated and trans fats

  • thats why it taste so good, lol

  • That was one wicked can opener, you need to expand to cooking videos. :)

  • Man I want This right now

  • *chop* "ow" *chop* "ow" *chop* "ow"

  • I wouldnt say the can opening is abuse for this knife at all. Any well made outdoors/survival knife should be able to open tin cans on a regular basis. It would be abuse if you were using a foldng knife, But a knife like this one is certainly strong enough. Great vid though. I really like your knife vids!

  • lol im liking the intro music

  • susage fest!

  • once i had to open a can with a twitch 2 :)

  • It might not kill you but splinters in the asshole never felt good.

  • lol i ate whol big stick of it over the weekend

    lol

  • What's with the porn music?

  • Baah, now i got sooo hungry on snacks mmm, cheddar :)

  • only problem is 440c for that price NOT!!!! see you tonight my chubby love bear hey did i leave my ball huggers under your bed jeff? .ps. you can handle my sausage later tonight hehe.
