i honestly don't care about bots, never really have so when jagex "nuked" the bots all it really did was finish off Runescape, I just started back and was was thinking about the good times of Rs but runescape just isn't the same it's completely dead and I for one hate it since I've played it off and on since 2004. I hope Jagex can do something to bring more people back like they did last Feb but since old Wildy was the main thing everyone wanted back I dunno if that will ever happen again. :/

Botting is cheating. Doesn't matter if you want to go outside and not play rs all day. If you think about it it doesn't take very long to lvl up and get money. Don't you hate all the hackers and cheaters in games such as CoD and BF? Botting is the same thing and it's not allowed. I play maybe 1-2 hours a day or less. And I can still get pretty good money and lvl fast. Mostly botters are just lazy people and many don't go outside while botting, they play other games instead (not everyone)
@corrion2343 Haha well Agility isn't the fastest lvl in the game but I've got 70 Agil and I am happy with that. I didn't spend so much time on it either. You know, many things feels like they take a lot of time when they don't. If you train Agil for example an hour, try to figure out how much XP you've gotten in that time.
@pengsman It depends what u like to call good money making. For some richer ppl even 1M/hour is bad, cause they make maybe 5 times more per hour. Even if I ''only'' get 500k-1M/hour I am happy with that. Neither do I care, as you botters likes to call it: It's only a game ;)

Everyone (included jagex) need to get over themselves. There is absolutely nothign wrong with boting. You can argue "BAWWWW But I spend all my time doing it "properly" and therefore people shouldn't be taking the easy way BAAAWWW HAWWW". Honestly? I'm sorry (not really, you can suck a fat one), but I refuse to believe that we should all be forced to waste so much time on a game. I have things to do and have limited time to play games like runescape which have a high demand on time.
And the "being forced to waste so much time on a game" is called actually PLAYING the game. If you have things to do and have limited time to play games like rs, then play games that take less time

Having limited time in comparison to those who seem to have endless time to spend grinding should not in anyway limit out choice of games that we want to play. Honestly, that was the most arrogant thing you could have said. We play runescape for a reason, because we think it's fun for watever reason. We have limited time and for us to be penalized for that fact is highly unfair. Bots don't ruin the game, they save up valuable time for us.
@bourky93 but what you dont understand is, using bots ruins the game for the rest of the community. And when you use bots, you arent playing the game, you're pretty much manipulating it. Saving your time isnt worth ruining the game for thousands of other people. If anything, you're being selfish. @apophis456 Thousands? Real botters make it a point to only go on notoriously quiet realms to avoid that stuff. Being around a lot of people ruins it for us. When it comes to killing, there is more than 1 place where people can level up, they aren't limited to whatever we chose. I don't know about you, but I don't play the game for "other people". I play the game for me and other people just happen to be around. The most common thing I bot is making flax to bow string cause that's just boring.
@TheCirrus45 To save time so I don't need to waste time doing trivial crap. I still do quests, make items that I need myself and fight when I want to. If I ever want gold or get up a couple combat levels, I just set my bot to do it so I don't have to waste hours grinding particular stats (don't even try say that's fun because it isn't in any definition of the word). The only real argument you can put forward is that we don't get that sense of accomplishment... but it's a game... so yea...
@bourky93 Grinding anything is almost never fun, but people find ways to make it fun. Talking to friends, watching movies, doing homework, all those things help you to get through the boring without ruining the game.
You said botting doesnt affect thousands,it does. It isnt just you and your bot, it's 10,000 people with 1-5 bots each. That means you could have 25 runescape servers that dont even have people on them. bots ruin the economy and the game experience for the actual players

@apophis456 In addition, the word you are supposed to be using for your invalid economic argument is "inflation". That argument is both right, but also very wrong. The bots are causing inflation, that is true, HOWEVER, the ever growing popularity and accounts that are being made (the people who are actually playing) are causing far more inflation in comparison to a few thousand bots ever could. Undeniable truth right there.

Honestly why in all hell would you wanna bot? The whole point of RS is to be a MMORPG a MASSIVELY multiplayer online rpg. No one ever said you had to get all the skills asap. The point of it being multiplayer in the first place is so you have people you can train said skills with or moneymake with. Botting is stupid; I understand that They were made so you could go do something else and then come and play with good stats, but I'd say about 90% of the actual game is training your stats. Is basically you are missing out on the game by botting.

they didn't do it for greed. They are just protecting their game. You know how many people that bot were paying for remembers? Thousands. If they really wanted money, they would have kept those members.
This is a fear tactic. They are scaring any future scripters from creating a mass bot. Nothing more, nothing less.
unfortunate to see these guys be yet another victim of the perverted justice system in the USA. They had already had a ruling that had stated that they were not doing anything wrong. So then Jagex just tried them in another state hoping for a different ruling. Eventually they obviously ran out of money, because they couldn't compete with jagex financially and had to give in. I guess you can buy a win in court....
For anyone saying "its too harsh to take the guys account", no it isn't it's perfectly within the law, by making a botting company (probably a plc or partnership) and messing about with jagex code, he broke the terms and conditions of jagex. If you didn't know, having a public limited company or partnership you have UNLIMITED liabilty, meaning, if the business goes down, so does everything the owner has. Including his property.

@apophis456 Thousands? Real botters make it a point to only go on notoriously quiet realms to avoid that stuff. Being around a lot of people ruins it for us. When it comes to killing, there is more than 1 place where people can level up, they aren't limited to whatever we chose. I don't know about you, but I don't play the game for "other people". I play the game for me and other people just happen to be around. The most common thing I bot is making flax to bow string cause that's just boring.

@TheCirrus45 To save time so I don't need to waste time doing trivial crap. I still do quests, make items that I need myself and fight when I want to. If I ever want gold or get up a couple combat levels, I just set my bot to do it so I don't have to waste hours grinding particular stats (don't even try say that's fun because it isn't in any definition of the word). The only real argument you can put forward is that we don't get that sense of accomplishment... but it's a game... so yea...

@bourky93 Grinding anything is almost never fun, but people find ways to make it fun. Talking to friends, watching movies, doing homework, all those things help you to get through the boring without ruining the game.
You said botting doesnt affect thousands,it does. It isnt just you and your bot, it's 10,000 people with 1-5 bots each. That means you could have 25 runescape servers that dont even have people on them. bots ruin the economy and the game experience for the actual players

@apophis456 In addition, the word you are supposed to be using for your invalid economic argument is "inflation". That argument is both right, but also very wrong. The bots are causing inflation, that is true, HOWEVER, the ever growing popularity and accounts that are being made (the people who are actually playing) are causing far more inflation in comparison to a few thousand bots ever could. Undeniable truth right there.

Honestly why in all hell would you wanna bot? The whole point of RS is to be a MMORPG a MASSIVELY multiplayer online rpg. No one ever said you had to get all the skills asap. The point of it being multiplayer in the first place is so you have people you can train said skills with or moneymake with. Botting is stupid; I understand that They were made so you could go do something else and then come and play with good stats, but I'd say about 90% of the actual game is training your stats. Is basically you are missing out on the game by botting.

unfortunate to see these guys be yet another victim of the perverted justice system in the USA. They had already had a ruling that had stated that they were not doing anything wrong. So then Jagex just tried them in another state hoping for a different ruling. Eventually they obviously ran out of money, because they couldn't compete with jagex financially and had to give in. I guess you can buy a win in court....

For anyone saying "its too harsh to take the guys account", no it isn't it's perfectly within the law, by making a botting company (probably a plc or partnership) and messing about with jagex code, he broke the terms and conditions of jagex. If you didn't know, having a public limited company or partnership you have UNLIMITED liabilty, meaning, if the business goes down, so does everything the owner has. Including his property.
