  • I dont know why but i allways want Powell to win...

  • @rrock71 I know what you mean. He never wins championships

  • @rrock71 Me too. Even though Bolt is faster Im always hoping Powell will win,

  • @CHELSEA9636 actually there is endurance in a 100m sprint. It's called speed endurance. Being able to maintain your top end speed in the latter part of the race and not fade off. That's why its good to do 200m training to help with Speed endurance for the 100m. Powell could benefit from some speed endurance training..

  • @inerfyr he is doing that actually already quite lot. he trains 300m in the spring a lot. the problem is just his running style is not the best if u want to be fast in the last 20m. his style is the most efficient ive ever seen but still he uses more energy than bolt or gay the first 50m (thats why his starts are so good). powell has good speed endurance but the problem is when he starts really fast you often see him break down the last 10m usually his best races are those where he starts

  • @MrBusunglueck very well but not inhuman so that he is 2 meters in front at 30

  • @CHELSEA9636 and im talking about anaerobic endurance

  • lol white guy with glasses, even better!!!

  • 5:36 for the sprint

  • @CHELSEA9636 yea but u cant run a 100 all out. bolt and gay are also way better 400m runners than powell so they have more endurance

  • @CHELSEA9636 like i said more endurance. powell can squat more than gay and bolt

  • @CHELSEA9636 he has more power than bolt and gay just less endurance

  • I'm sure if Asafa Powell was comfortable with the process before the actual race he'd be fine. I think he loses too much energy waiting in the dressing room. I don't think it's the pressure, but the routine he's required to follow for these big races. If Powell, Bolt, Gay etc. raced at the local track, no officials telling them what to do before the race, I'd back Powell to win. Whether he does..? Who knows? Powell needs to relax. That's the difference between Bolt and Powell.

  • Weird indeed, a white guy lol!! it sucks that asafa tottaly fucked up his race after leading the first half

  • usa suck hard f*ck you americans!! Sweden rules!

  • @finnishockey sweden pmsl

  • Asafa Powell is a great, great sprinter. He has had 2 world records.

But he could NEVER be like Bolt. For one reason: He can't handle the pressure of a big, big occasion. Some people can, some can't.

  • Asafa Powell

  • coool

  • NO!

  • this title was his for the taking!

if asafa doesn't win the big 100 at world's this year, i don't think he ever will.

  • jamaica for life

  • usually, you suport where you live

  • has anyone saw how Churandy Martina started and how he was getting closer and closer to the others?

  • never..

  • USA SUCKS!

  • ???

  • and your mother sucks all dicks from USA olympic team

  • if maurice greene was in beijing 2008 he would get his ass kicked by bolt so easly

  • no shit man

  • but you gotta give it up to him tho,

who's ran as many sub 10's as him?

yea he's kinda old, but he can still run his asz off!

  • he's old and and retired.. great runner though.. love his action.. maurice greene

  • why wasn't Maurice Greene in the Olympics this year?

  • Its cute that Gay seems so nervous. Cha Gay ran down Powell and he choked. Oh well still not impressed I gotta back the best in the game and for me its Bolt and if all else fails its Asafa.

  • learn english then compair bolt and asafa

  • Wah yu problem...yu nu si dis is a Jamaican conversation, not a english class. You go learn Jamaican then come conversate with me.

  • Thx for tht vid mate. when the 2009 iaaf world athletics championships are over could you please give me the videos for the men's 100m and 200m finals? thx

  • i have 100 m finals

  • man cant blacc and white folks get on youtube without doin racist shit its 2008 folks leave tha past in tha past and im blacc to.

  • Shouldnt that honkey be in the Winter Olympics

  • この勝負最高だね

  • ma vai a fanculo giallo di merda!

  • JESUS CHRIST that is just amazing

but personally i was going for the white guy =p

  • a white GUY!!

  • shit there running almost 22 mph

  • Man they both looked so nervous, i think gay handled it well, just deep breaths trying to control himself, powell just looked really worried and agitated. Man, if they can control their emotions, they could be smashing more wr's.

  • pra mim asafa powell estava comprado e deixou tyson ganhar!Ele errou a passada depois dos 60 m!Acho difícil um cara que treina dia e noite errar!

  • both of them are elite athletes, powell can repeat his times, he's pretty consistant and is in his prime. theres room for tyson gay he needs to get out faster. we will see at the olympics this year whose the fastest in the world. im lookin for 970-75 in that region, i wud like all men to run under 10 seconds that wud be nice.

  • omg..around 1:52 and after..two best 100m runners, standing next to each other..gives me chills..they are asome.

  • While Tyson was praying ...Asafa was sweating...even if Tyson won that race Asafa is an alien, the fastest man on earth is Jamaican also if Tyson gay is the essence of the power

  • common tyson is the best! whats everyone problem? tyson is the one with starting problems...and the one with more conditions to improve...dont say just what u want without see the damn true!

  • powell is da best tyson is a wannabe

  • tyson gay is faster then powell, he broke his record in bolton daoes it matter whether it was official or not

    tyson is fater den powell

  • who has the world record 9.74

  • how about u look it up.

  • I was being sarcastic I know it's Asafa Powell

  • haha suntukan nlang kyo hahaha pa sarcasarcastic pa hahahha

  • 1:55 = intense

  • theres no bad luck in 100m unless u accidentally injured while dash on...sprinto21..idiot

  • I was thinking Powell run gold, but he didint.

Tyson did. Powell going sometimes with rollecoaster, he doesnt win all of his races.

  • yeah but tyson has a bad day everytime that it counts, his world record will be broken, and then without a major championship what else will he have. If he doesn't get it in the one I don't see him getting it anywhere else.

  • the world championships are second only to the olympics, if this isnt a major championship then there isnt much else that is.

  • you are talking about ASAFA POWELL.. and I highly doubt anyone besides him will beat it anytime soon... 9.74 is rediculous

  • ridiculous? LOL

  • shut up. I was probably drunk when I wrote that.

  • lol that was funny

  • BOLT

  • u have ur gd days and ur bad days, i wud say powell had a bad day but it really looks like he cudnt b arsed and dats wat its dowwn to, hes the fastest in the world wat else he got o prove

  • What's the point of having world class speed if you can't use it when the time is right. He can go in his cakyard and run a 9.74 but if he can't do it in the limelight then it's pointless. Also understand Tyson hasn't astered his start and he still produced a 9.85 and 9.84 into a headwind. I honestly think tyson is the better sprinter as of last year. Esecially with that 19.62 into a headwind.

  • this commentator doesnt know how to stfu before the gun

  • Bahamas or Nuttin Baby

  • asafa powell is faster. just bad luck in this race

  • I like there aren't so many Americans, since the competition will become more interesting for everyone! And, who knows......perhaps one day some Spanish guy will reach the finals...^_^

  • Bahamas Is Really Doing Better...Big Up To Derrick

  • Tyson Gay will break the world record soon, mark my words =)

  • OSOVNIKAR... WHITE GUY IN A FINAL?

  • well i'll big up my home town the Bahamas. Am so proud for Derrick Atkins. I didnt know where he came from but he just popped up out of no where. Well other countries face the reality...the Bahamas is coming and we're coming strong. Jamaica and Powell ya dun with. America's Tyson Gay, the Bahamas is giving you compitition

  • sorry guys, Osovnikar THE BEST!

  • asafa powell is the best

  • powell replied to that 100m final with a motherfukin world record 9.74 and eased up when coming to the finish line...9.74 powelll reign supreme

  • the usuall thing they do 'show off' beating hard on their chest, curious whats he trying to reaffirm that he s the fastest in the world - how many have we seen!!!!powell was coming out of an groin injury maybe he s holding out for the olympics lets wait n see

they re sportsmen n hug after the race yal fighting yourselves!!!!

  • dude, you said it all

  • powell slowed down cos he panicked. Credit to tyson gay, whoever says hes doping is a complete idiot, they have tests all the time. Powell is faster when not under pressure. But pressure plays a big part. So who knows. Take nothing away from Gay.

  • asafa powell new WR 9.74s timing says it all

  • and he let up about 8 meters out! gotta say he totally looks juiced.

  • u fucken idiots, how bout u learn a thing or 2 about running before u post shizz thats not rite, take a look at the wind that gay had wen he ran his 9.84, yeh nice 1 boys, rreeeaallly smart, he had a headwind so fuck off

  • Asafa Powell ran 9.74 today in Rieti. Tyson Gay beat him at the World Championships but the Olympics next year, Powell will dominate

  • I absolutely agree!And I bet on that!Powell is the world's fastest man!I'm with Asafa!9.74!!!

  • Its a big race mental thing with Powell. He also didn't look to be in peak shape in Osaka, I use his constricted stride at the end of the 4x100 final as exhibit A. His agent did report that Powell has been in heavy training since Osaka, and that they weren't expecting him to run today because of his soreness from training during the week. He looked to be in much better form today.

  • When Powell was new on the European circuit there are a few races where he beat Green, holding off Green's late charge. He didn't loose his form or tighten up at the end of those races. The difference is now days Powell doesn't run against top competition anymore. Back then, there was Greene, Montgomery, Chambers et. al on the circuit, a more talented group of top sprinters as a whole then the group you have now.

  • Like Michael Johnson said, Asafa is "not a great competitor". He has a record of choking when there's real competition.

  • He still has time to work on that.. he has had chances but he is still young.Remember, Asafa beat gay 5 TIMES last year, when gay was running 9.84 (which was his official best this year so far )!! Gay has beaten asafa once!!! Yes you can argue that it was in one of the biggest meets but the Olympics is next year :)

  • Powell has always done well with inferiors, performing splendidly in heats and small comps, but with equals and with the pressure of big comps, he's consistently broken down. Gay's PB of 9.84 is impressive but still made him an inferior sprinter to Powell last year. But at about 70 meters when Powell realized Gay wasn't an inferior anymore he crumbled. He said it himself that the pressure got to him and cites it as the reason for his diappointing performance.

  • Well this was a great race, and tyson keot his composure, unlike Asafa. Since asafa just ran a new world record, we now know for sure that he was healthy and ready physicially in this race.

  • Since Powell just broke the record again 9.74 +1.7 wind supposedly easing up at the end of the race, then following it up with a 9.78 0.0 wind reading in the final. Does that make him the favorite against Gay in a couple weeks when they race again? 9.78 with 0 wind is very impressive.

  • gay!

  • powell had the lead, but he quit the last 30 meter. Wonder why...

  • gaaaayyyyyyyyh

  • That was so... doped!

  • Asafa Powell is the most naturally gifted 100m sprinter of all time, however, to win future championships, he needs to employ an exceptional sports psychologist, get help from some source from someone who will teach him how to compete and develope his stamina. I would like to see him running the 200m as well. The Americans have cracked the 400m by teaching their athletes to jog the 400m in phases in as relaxed a manner as posible; the rest of the world hasn't caught on as yet.

  • now i am sure asafa doesnt take any steroids...i mean look at his body....a friend of mine that was running the 100m here locally in greece had a better body than him and im sure he didnt take anything...

  • did u see Asafa crying at the end LOL!!!!!

  • tous doppés ces américains asafa powell reste quand meme le meilleur

  • English?

  • asafa powell is the best because all Americans are doped

  • Yeah,I suppose though that not only Americans are doped...But these athletes that come from Africa(like Jamaica)are better athletes than the others because something with their body is different and they have the power inside!I don't know.I want Powell to win the Olympics!

  • Jamaica is not in Africa! It's 2 hours flight from Florida! And Jamaicans don't have anything different in their bodies. Jamaica produces superior sprinters because Jamaicans start sprinting competitively from as early as kindergarten!

  • hahaha i agree

  • Powell would be in with a potential 2nd or even 1st place, if he actually fucking tried for the whole 100m for once.

  • Asafa Powell 4ever

  • sa fait trop chier!!! vive asafa powell!!

  • lol notice no one is talking bout atkins lol

  • gay's frequency is faster. and asafa shouldnt slow down..

  • Gay could smash the WR if he improved his start and was pushed all the way to the end.

  • Great race and congrats to Tyson, but I feel terrible for Powell...

  • tyson my man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i am not saying that thats what happen but it look like he change gear from explosive to slower.

  • tyson gay and powell is both my favorite sprinter. we were just talking about this yesterday at my school track practice n we were discusing that powell wasnt really pull that last 45m it look like he slow down n his transaction is after the first 20m is bad. as u can see look like he hunched a bit and focusing more on his stride. ( it went by really quick but i think at 5:46 or 47 it look like hes left foot wooble just for a bit, this is what happen when you slow down n over stride)

  • powell just drops down speed last 30 meters if not he was up for a 9.82 or something like that, why? dunno but it is just what i see

  • wat a great race! not as close as i wanted though. Gd job gay

  • Powell is just coming back from injury while gay is in Top form, has been the bes this season.

  • i cant understand wot this commentater is sayin but e has bad timin

  • The two of these - Asafa and Gay - will lower the world mark to the low 9.7s eventually...

Asafa is big and powerful - but can't take competition pressure and ties up...he'll crack the record again when the heat isn't on...Gay may also be able to lower the record further...he just needs to sort his start out...he does that and it's game over...

  • you can predict who wins after 40 m.

If ASAFA is not in front by 5m at 40 m of the race its over becose gay is the fuckin best after 40m.

  • Maybe he didn't have a mayor role in this race but we still are very proud of him. Our own Shurandy Martina from the Netherlands Antilles (Curacao), who came in 5th. But amazing how in the last 50 meters he worked his way up from last place to 5th. Keep it up Shurandy, you're time will come !!!!

  • I thing day was faster then powell, so asafa gived up in the end

  • i thing gay was faster than powell so asafa gived up in the end

  • I think powell wasn't really 100% for this reace

  • Gay is definately in a row now.. No one can beat him at the moment.

  • u can tell powell beats the shit out of gay at the start, jus sth wrong with him that made him slow down behind. 0.08 secs is hell lot difference

  • Yeah, Asafa tenses in the races when he is being beaten, chances are he'll come out with another world record

  • How could you call the debate over? They're both the same age, Gay is running faster than Asafa this season, Asafa can run 9.77, its wide open.. 6 gears my hole what are u on about son

  • The Powell/Gay debate is over............very over.......most sprinters have 5 gears......Tyson Gay proved today he has 6.........cant wait to see how destroys the field in the 200 on tuesday

  • I predicted be4 the race that Asafa would win in 9,81 and Tyson 2nd in 9,84. Asafa choked like in '04... He's not a championships performer. Congratz Tyson!

  • WoW what a race
