I confess this music has been the most memorable and beautiful tune I've ever heard and loved in a film. The film's name in Spanish was "Candilejas". I saw the movie when I was 20 y.o. in my home town (Maracaibo, Ven.), and I went to see it a second time just a few days after. It's not only melancholic air but a jewel of a music. Yes, Charlie wrote this from his soul...as "ancientone22" remarkably said here...

Besides this theme for "Limelight" Chaplin also wrote other beautifull music. "La Violetera" in the film of the same name sung by the beautiful Spanish actress Sarita Montiel is another beauty.

Chaplin was born into the most dismal environment: broken home father deserted them, mother had bouts of insaniity he sufferd in work houses ironically gasp swooon watch him, exemplary genoues/talent/ the happiness!!! where does he leave us happy inspired he was a glistening success of a human despite personal drama. A classic!!!
