  • I love this picture of Barbra on the album. What a look to go with that voice.

  • The one woman who can do a freaking duet with HERSELF!!

  • Comment removed

  • oh... :') My Heart is moved every single time.... i feel my chest starts vibrating....it's a weird feeling....and as i type, im getting goosebumps and a strange thing in my back neck.... ...... oh oh oh... oooh please be there! you're the barbra Effect!

  • Will always remind me of my mother <3

    I love you, mommy!

  • the VOICE is MAGNIFICENT. but let's give it UP for the ORCHESTRATION & for the MUSICIANS!!!

  • Only Barbra can perform a duet with Barbra.

  • @jayckubwoyeek LOL :D

  • No one on earth can sing this song better than Barbara Striesand!

  • @Kelticgirl1 Listen to the Luther Vandross version of A House is Not a Home. Or watch the video, which brought down the house and made Dionne Warwicke cry.

  • @corvus13 - I know of Luther Vandross's version of this song, and as a great as it is, I still prefer Barbra's version of this sung from a woman's perspective.Just as I would also prefer Glady's Knight's version of the song " Where would I be" if it were also sung by Luther Vandross as well. (RIP Luther.)

  • This wonderful cut was released on the album "Barbra Joan Streisand" in late 1971, produced by Richard Perry, who produced many albums with Carly Simon, the Pointer Sisters, et al. Pick up the Barbra CD for an interesting collection of songs from ballads to interesting takes on rock and funk, including backup by a lesbian female band called Fanny. :)

  • @danzerchic64

    This isn't the original version.

    See below.

  • B at her Best

  • Gotta agree with wy2h2: this generation will associate the song with Glee (since this is the version they re-created). I felt much the same when my niece heard the original version of The Supremes "You Can't Hurry Love" and remarked that they had copied it from Phil Collins and really didn't know how to sing it like he did!

  • I can appreciate both Marilyn McCoo's interpretation and arrangements as well as Barbra's. Two untouchable talents.

  • What a phenomenal "duet" with herself, Ms Streisand has recorded. The arrangement, the voice(s), the emotion, the sense of timing--perfect. Thanks for this post. Don't ever take it away.

  • BARBRA JOAN STREISAND..WE WORE THIS RECORD OUT!!..MY FRIENDS IN CONNECTICUT LOVED THIS SONG IN PARTICULAR..IT WAS ALWAYS THE GOOD NIGHT SONG AT THE END OF THE NIGHTWHEN THE BAR WAS CLOSING A TRUE DANCE FLOOR PACKER ALLTHE YOUNG LOVERS..AH YES..

  • Thanks glee for this song. and Babra need i say more.!!!

  • God, I love Barbra.

  • A wonderful voice singing an incredible arrangement. A song for the ages! Thank you for this post. What feeling and luscious wonder in this medley. Thank you, Ms. Streisand for sharing your talent.

  • For those who remember, this tune was played at the

Knickerbocker Pub on the Berlin Tpke. in CT and the dance

floor was always full. Great times!!!

  • I love Kristin but she, unfortunately, does not do this song justice on Glee. That show ruins classics, though, this is not the place to rant on about that. ;) On another note, Barbra's voice in this song is pure magic. No one can compare Barbra, one of the last true belters in the dying business. Younger people should not have to watch that show to know the greatness that is Barbra Stiresand. Sadly, classics such as this are fading. :( Oh well, that's just my input. :]

  • This is my first time (knowingly) listening to Barbra Streisand (I've only recently got into musicals and such). I didn't think I'd like her - I don't know why, considering I've loved every song Glee has covered by her, but I didn't think she'd be the type I'd listen to...I was, obviously, completely and utterly wrong. I'm in love with her voice.

Though, I think I like KC's cover of this song just a litle bit more, simply because she's my favorite singer and I'm just obsessed with her voice.

  • @MomoTheStrange check out a song called " evergreen" it is mindblowing.

  • beautiful!

  • Glee can't be compared to this, this is perfect!(And I like glee, haha and love Kristen)

  • Thanks Glee for getting me to love Barbra!!! thanks to them i was introduced to Funny Girl, and now it is one of my favorite movies!

  • thank you Glee for getting me to love Barbara!!!!!!!!

  • carolh62 i never get tired of listening to this song, miss s is a goddess!!

  • i never get tired of listening to this song, miss s is a goddess!!

  • Awesome! <3

  • I am not the biggest Barbara Streisand fan but lets not get crazy ... her talent is immense ... merge her talent with Bacharach and you have the ultimate pop classic.

So glad thismusic was made and available ... Thank you MsStreisand and Mr Bacharach. Beautiful !

  • this makes me cry...

  • @andrewbuga1 that's how amazing it is, lol

  • before there was deline dione there was barbra streisand

  • so sad that when i search for its lyrics, glee always come out. :(

  • best version at least to me =]

  • Thank God for Glee and their love for Streisand. <3 They keep reminding me of all the great Streisand songs I grew up with. c:

  • just wow. Barbra just nails it;

  • This will always remind me of my mother. All those late nights, lights off, and only the sound of Barbara Streisand while my dad was away in Iraq. And my mother's overdramatic rendition of, "One less bell to answer....each time the doorbell rings I still RUUUUUNNNNNNN (one egg to fry) one less man to pick up after.....no more laughter, no more loveeeeeeeeee!!!"

  • A natural instrument. Barbara Streisand is the best.

  • @poupoukorero it's barbra

  • One of my favorite songs

  • sooo goodddddd

  • OMFG! Who are the 2 idiots that unliked this??? Ought to be slaughtered!

  • I've never seen Glee, because it looks stupid. I do appreciate that it introduces a younger generation to some really good music. I wish they'd give some credit to the original artists though.

  • @rellenoz I KNOW THAT'S RIGHT

  • betta than butta...

  • @seaniebouy BARBRA STREISAND DID A WONDERFUL JOB WITH THIS MEDLEY

  • a chair is still a chair and Barbra and Glee are related but not the same at all.

Look for the intensity. And vibrtato.

I like Glee fine. But listen to both versions and

..so darling, don't let one mistake keep us apart,

Glee is great tv and this is something different and W AY better.

  • Amazing..

  • @darthchiam VERY AMAZING

  • @didirey my sentiments exactly! I had never heard this version. I loved The 5th Dimention and Dionne Warwicks House is not a home when I was a kid. Then when Luther Vandross remade House is not a home, I loved that even more. Then because I'm a GLEEK I was amazed how the two songs blended together so well I thought they thought that up, but now I see Barbara did first and WOW. No one can touch Barbara.

  • @nostressin2010 Barbra's response: CAN'T TOUCH THIS!

  • MAGNIFICENT.

  • Barbra harmonizes beautifully with herself. LOL!

  • This song was originally performed by Marilyn McCoo formerly of the 5th Dimension singing group...Barbra's rendition is just as haunting...

  • Now everyone probably thinks "Glee" originated this.

  • @wy2h2

    Unfortunately...

  • @TheReturnOfStephan1 I hate this whole Glee copying!

  • @vicgolightly ME TOO

  • @wy2h2 Well, since Glee only does covers of songs, the watchers will know that this was originally sung by someone else. Still, though, I pray that the show makes them look the original version up.

  • @wy2h2 I highly doubt that, it's a pretty well known fact that glee only does cover songs.

  • @Muzikafreak92 true....but most songs sang on Glee, esp the older ones are sadly being labelled as a 'Glee Song'.

  • @wy2h2 Glee doesn't originate any of their music, do they?

  • @AceBellamanx Duh. it's a cover show. Like broadway musicals that use pop songs. They do make their own arrangements and mashups though. This was an already existing medley but things like Halo/Sunshine they created on their own.

  • @videobyratizi Well I kinda figured.

  • @AceBellamanx nope

  • @wy2h2 Hey... Im a Proud GLEEK! but i know this was Barbra's. I also know her amazingness

  • @wy2h2 i started searching for the original immediatly (it''s a good way to learn good songs aparantly =D)

  • @wy2h2 Why would they? None of the songs are original, obviously?

  • thanks for uploading! I love these songs, thanks to "Glee", & no one sings 'em like Barbra.

  • bueno siempre fue de mis preferidas..por eso al oirla en glee

    aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!

  • Awesome!

  • Wow!!!!! Beautiful

  • "One Less Bell To Answer" was originally done by the 5th Dimension, with Dionne Warwick doing "A House is Not A Home". She did a wonderful job on putting the two songs together.

  • wow

  • Thank you Glee for introducing me to this song.

  • @oooh55

And also thank you for breaking my pride into tears over n over n over again T^T The song is just that good!!!!

  • funny, this is the song combo they did on GLEE. They did a great job, too.

  • outstanding

  • it is as if this song was written for me omg!! and the way we were theme at the end wow!! all my absolute faves

oh well time to start a brand new chapter in my life

    heres to the future xx

  • Shamfeully, it took Glee to introduce me to this. But I love both! Streisand is full of soul.

  • i love this song and Barbra!!! if i met her i would cry! :P

  • did she ever performed this on a movie??

    love this song <3 ^.^

  • Probably the definitive recording of these two classics! The arrangement, the production and the voice! Just magnificent!!

  • I have had this song in my collection but had forgotten about.

It took Glee to remind me.

Barbara has had so many wonderful songs and so much legacy to leave behind. Wonderful!

  • Thank you for the posting. 'Glee' recently lifted this arrangement for a duet between Matthew Morrison and Kristin Chenoweth in a season two episode. I didn't see any credit given to the original 'mash-up'. I hope that I just missed it.

  • @wdrayr season 1

  • I NEED THIS SHEET MUSIC! Anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks! :-)

  • @SondheimFanatic1 did you find the sheet music - I have a house is not a hom e but not one less bell to answer

  • @nancystardiva Try Colony Records in NYC.

They have a huge selection, and what they don't have, they can special order for you.

    colonymusic. com

  • @TheReturnOfStephan1 I WILL HAVE TO DO THAT. BECAUSE I HAVE A LOT OF OLD-SCHOOL SONGS I WANT TO ORDER.

  • This was one of our LP cuts when I worked at WFTL in Fort Lauderdale. I often played it on the overnight show when I needed a long song. There was just something magic about playing this on the radio with the lights in the studio down low. I think of the great time I had at WFTL whenever I hear it.

  • BARBARA!!!!!!I am inlove with her voice....

  • Wow... feels like being gently massaged by smooth velvety vocals... Bravo!

  • SO EXCELLENT!!!!

  • Wow...beautiful...

  • was this song in a movie?

  • @jm2jmm

"AHINAH" is the theme song for a 1960s film of the same name starring Shelley Winters. The song was originally performed by Dionne Warwick.

    Beyond that, I don't know.

  • @TheReturnOfStephan1 I WILL HAVE TO BUY THE MOVIE AND SEE IT MYSELF. THE SONG A HOUSE IS NOT A HOME IS A CLASSIC SONG.

  • @MrTre5670

My mom told me that it's a very sad film, about prostitutes who work at a popular brothel, busy all year through, but, empty on holidays, when their clients stay home with their families.

I don't remember the film's arc, but, I think that Winters plays the madame.

  • One of my all time favorites from Streisand the version of this mix.

  • very very nice.

  • great version

  • Excellent . Thank you for putting 2 powerhouse songs together in one video!!

    Appreciate all your efforts,

    Best Regards from Darlene (Canada)

  • Thanks, but, I didn't. :)

    She did, and brilliantly!

Be sure to check out the live version in the "related videos" column to the right. It's from one of her tv specials.

  • Hi again,

As soon as I sent my comment to you....I realized that I've heard this combination song before. Sure enough it's on one of my Barbra CDs. Guess I'll have to go into the shop & get a memory tuneup, ha ha.

Anyway thanks again for your post. Cheers! :) D.

  • Perfection!!!

  • @billyboylb IT IS!
